TRANSFORMATIONAL LANGUAGE, LITERATURE, AND TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW IN LEARNING (TRANSTOOL) is an international peer reviewed and open access journal in literature and language education. The aim is to publish conceptual and research articles that explore the application of any language in teaching and the everyday experience of language in education. Its scope is international in that it welcomes articles from academics, language teachers, researchers, practitioners, graduate students and policy makers. Manuscripts must be original and educationally interesting to the audience in the field. The goal is to promote concepts and ideas developed in this area of study by publishing relevant peer-reviewed scientific information and discussion. This will help language practitioners to advance their knowledge for greater benefit and output in their professional contexts. All articles published in this journal should be in English. The scope of journal covers assessment and testing in language learning and education; applied linguistics methodologies and issues; classroom language teaching issues; culture and power in language education; language curriculum development and implementation; effective methods for language teaching; diversity, multiculturalism and language education; gender, language and higher education; language skills, development, and issues; language learning and identity; literacy, bilingualism and bilingual education; and teacher training, gender and equality in language education, also discussing topics on the area of language for specific purposes.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the mathematical numeracy abilities of class VII students with introverted, extroverted and ambivert personalities at SMP Negeri 2 Semarang. The method used was descriptive qualitative with research subjects consisting of 34 students, one student was selected from each personality category based on a questionnaire with 70 question items. The results of the questionnaire showed AAE (introvert), LPA (extrovert), and JRA (ambivert) students as research subjects. Mathematical numeracy ability tests and interviews were carried out to test the validity of the test results through technical triangulation. Indicators of mathematical numeracy abilities include the use of mathematical numbers and symbols, analysis of information in the form of tables, graphs and charts, as well as interpretation of analysis results for decision making. The results showed that introvert and ambivert students met all indicators of numeracy ability, while extrovert students did not. Introvert students can solve problems well, extrovert students tend to be in a hurry and lack details, while ambivert students show quite good results but there are still some answers that are less detailed. This research concludes that mathematical numeracy abilities vary based on student personality.

Abstract

This action research aims to increase student activity and learning outcomes through the application of discovery learning models in class X students at SMK Al Khairiyah Ciomas. The subjects of this research were 30 students in class X. What is used is classroom action research with the Kemmis and Mc model. Taggart. Each cycle is carried out with stages: planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. The results of the analysis of descriptive data show that in cycle I student learning outcomes have not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) applied because they have only achieved an average score of 67.60 from a KKM score of 75, and an absorption capacity of 50% which means that 15 students have fulfilled the KKM and 15 students have not reached KKM. This is due to the activeness of students in learning 61.60 while the ability of teachers in learning has only reached 75%. From these results it is necessary to proceed to cycle II. And as for the results of the actions in cycle II that the average student learning outcomes were 76.20, which meant that they had reached the KKM and the absorption was 76.67%, which meant that 23 students had exceeded the KKM. While the ability of teachers by 85%. Because this research had reached KKM, this research was not continued in the next cycle. The results of the study concluded that the application of the discovery learning model can increase the activity and learning outcomes of science.

Abstract

The use of technology can serve as an attractive tool for students to enhance their abilities, one of which is by utilizing a smartbook that contains materials and practice questions packaged in various digital platforms. This article aims to identify the challenges students face in understanding English vocabulary based on Bloom's Taxonomy. Bloom's Taxonomy has been widely used as a reference to measure students' abilities in the learning process, particularly in the cognitive aspect. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study approach. The respondents of this study were 7 students, the homeroom teacher, and the fourth-grade English teacher at SDN Sawojajar 6, Malang City. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. The results of the study indicate that students face challenges in solving medium to HOTS (Higher-Order Thinking Skills) level questions due to their low interest in learning English, limited use of gadgets at school, and unfamiliarity with HOTS-type questions in English subjects.

Abstract

Gender stereotypes and gender issues exist in English materials. Research investigating gender stereotypes in English learning materials in the Indonesian ELT context revealed gender issues focusing on male dominance. A need analysis was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Gedangan to examine the current needs and conditions in the school environment. The result showed that gender bias and stereotypes exist in English materials. This research aims to develop gender-inclusive teaching module of Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) using AADIE for tenth grade students. An ADDIE research design serves as a guidance in developing the digital teaching module in this research. The expert validation resulted in a final score of 55 out of 100 which means the product is good to use with some minor revisions. After the revision process, the product was implemented to class X AK 1. The results of the product implementation showed good results in students' understanding of gender inclusiveness in reading and speaking skills. TPACK as a framework is used in this research since it helps teachers to combine content, pedagogy, and technology to create effective learning. Multimodal and scaffolding frameworks allow product development to fulfil students' and teachers' needs.

Abstract

Education policies and curricula in Indonesia are constantly changing.   These changes have a big impact on how learning is done in schools.   Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin High School in Wonosari is one school that started using the new curriculum.   The author links Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy with the new curriculum because they are related.   The research focuses on Ki Hajar Dewantara's philosophy, how it is implemented at the school, and its relevance to the National Education Curriculum Policy.   The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative approach and method, then continued with field research using observation, interview and documentation techniques. Then, for data analysis techniques this research uses data analysis techniques according to Miles and Huberman, namely qualitative data obtained from data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Results and conclusions: Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy focuses on freedom, namely independence in the sense that education is not dictation but is guidance. Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin High School has implemented the independent learning curriculum very well and is well received among students and teaching staff, because the learning activity program at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin High School is used to carrying out activities that are similar to the system in the independent learning curriculum. The relevance of Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational philosophy to the independent curriculum at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin High School is Experience-Based Education, Student-Centered Learning, Character Education, Student Independence, Local Community Involvement, and Inclusivity and Diversity.
