This research and development use the ADDIE model, namely analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research and development collected quantitative and qualitative data, the subjects of the trial included 35 students of class X MPLB at SMK Negeri 1 Malang. The data analysis technique of self-regulated learning and critical thinking uses the average value of the percentage. This research and development produce MODIS learning media assisted by google sites with various features that are integrated with materials and assignments that will provide a more varied learning experience. Research and development show that the validation results of material experts and media experts are very feasible to use so that they can significantly increase students’ self-regulated learning and critical thinking in learning.

Abstract

In the era of digital educational transformation, the integration of innovative learning technologies plays a crucial role in shaping autonomous and high-order thinking skills among vocational school students. This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills and self-regulated learning of tenth-grade MPLB 1 students at SMK Negeri 1 Kota Malang, due to the issue of using conventional and passive learning media. This research aims to implement Wakelet-based ‘Smart-Hub Media’ as an integrated digital ecosystem to improve both aspects. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kurt Lewin’s model, conducted across two cycles with a subject pool of 30 students. Data on critical thinking were gathered via pre-test and post-test designs and subsequently analyzed using an Independent Samples T-Test, while self-regulated learning data were assessed using a percentage-based questionnaire. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students’ critical thinking skills, with the class average score soaring from 49.1 (initial) to 93.4 at the end of cycle II, successfully exceeding the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) with t (count) > t (table) at a significance level of 0.05. Concurrently, the self-regulated learning questionnaire yielded an average score of 84%, falling into the ‘Very High’ category. It is concluded that the implementation of Wakelet-based ‘Smart-Hub Media’ is effective and feasible for enhancing students’ critical thinking and self-regulated learning.

Abstract

The development of information technology has brought significant changes in the management of educational institutions, including Islamic educational institutions. This study analyzes the role of Educational Management Information Systems (EMIS) in supporting decision-making and enhancing the quality of Islamic educational institutions through a literature review approach. This study uses a library research method, examining scientific articles, books, and academic documents published within the last ten years. Data were collected through searches on various academic databases and analyzed using content analysis techniques, which include identification, classification, evaluation, and synthesis of research findings. The results of the study show that EMIS serves as a strategic information source that provides accurate, integrated, and real time data to support data-driven decision making. The use of EMIS helps Islamic educational institutions plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate educational programs more effectively, objectively, and accountably, while contributing to institutional quality through the optimization of academic, personnel, financial, facilities and infrastructure, and student service management. The effectiveness of EMIS implementation is influenced by data quality, human resource competence, leadership support, organizational culture, availability of technological infrastructure, and system integration. Unlike previous studies that discuss EMIS's role in decision-making or quality improvement separately, this study integrates both aspects specifically within Islamic educational institutions, an area still relatively underexplored. Therefore, optimizing EMIS requires strengthening data governance, improving digital literacy, and organizational commitment to building a data-driven decision-making culture. This study confirms that EMIS is a strategic instrument for sustainably improving the governance and quality of Islamic educational institutions.
