Abstract

Corn is one of the indicator plants that can give response to volcanic dust sinabung. The purpose of this study was to determine the respons of sweet corn plant growth to the composition of planting media (top soil, Sinabung volcanic dust and EFBOP). This research was done at experimental field of Agriculture Faculty of University of Sumatra Utara, Medan at height about 25 mals in August until November2016. The research was using a non-factorial randomized block design which was consisting of 6 treatments of top soil : volcanic dust : EFBOP ratio that is 10 kg : 0 kg : 0 kg (M0), 8 kg : 0 kg : 2 kg (M1), 8 kg : 0,5 kg : 1,5 kg (M2), 8 kg : 1 kg : 1 kg (M3), 8 kg : 1,5 kg : 0,5 kg (M4), and 8 kg : 2 kg : 0 kg (M5). Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, length and width of leaves, fresh weights, length of cob, diameter of cob, seed line in cob, and number of seeds of cob. The result showed that the ratio of top soil, Sinabung volcanic dust and EFBOP had significanly effect on plant height, long and width of the leaves, fresh weights, length of cob, diameter of cob, seed line in cob, and number of seeds of cob, and had no significant effect on age flowering. The best composition of planting media was M2 with composition 8 kg top soil, 0,5 kg sinabung volcanic dust, and 1,5 kg EFBOP.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons pertumbuhan vegetatif binahong terhadap aplikasi pupuk organik cair. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Lahan Praktikum Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, pada bulan Januari 2017 hingga April 2017. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok non faktorial dengan 6 taraf perlakuan, yaitu : 0; 2,5; 5,0; 7,5; 10,0 dan 12,5 ml/l. Parameter yang diamati adalah Panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, bobot segar tajuk, bobot kering tajuk, bobot segar akar, dan bobot kering akar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk organik cair dengan konsentrasi 12,5 ml/l memberikan pengaruh nyata meningkatkan pertumbuhan panjang tanaman dan jumlah daun. Pemberian pupuk organik cair dengan konsentrasi 12, 50 ml/l, 2,50 ml/l, 5,00 ml/l, 7,50 ml/l, dan 10 ml/l memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata terhadap konsentrasi pada bobot segar tajuk. Pemberian pupuk organik cair dengan konsentrasi 7,50 ml/l memberikan pengaruh nyata meningkatkan pertumbuhan bobot segar akar dan bobot kering akar.

Abstract

Organic residues resulting from agricultural activities are nutrients for plants, but must go through a process of decomposition by soil microorganisms called decomposers. This study aims to examine the effect of several types of decomposers on several types of compost materials. This research was conducted at university faculty of agriculture of North Sumatera. This research was conducted starting from November 2017 - January 2018. In this research the design used is factorial randomized block design consisting of 2 factors of treatment that is compost material (TKKS, bagasse, straw) and decomposer type comes from, (TKKS, Bagasse, straw). the results showed that the compost material derived from TKKS was compost material containing N-total 1.31%, K-total 0.880%, C-organic 34.02%, C / N 30.51% and total microbial 2.5 x 108 CFU, higher than other compost materials. Decomposers derived from TKKS are decomposers capable of lowering the C / N ratio lower than the decomposers derived from other materials of 26.59, with total K-content of 0.556%, higher than others, C-organic 23.79% lower than others , but the highest N-total content comes from straw material that is 0.94%. The interaction between the compost and the decomposer derived from the isolates reduced C-organic and C / N lower than the others, but the reaction from the original decomposer to the N-total content of the TKKS was higher at 1.24%, the lower bagasse, 1.10 % and higher straw is 0.72% and K-total compost from TKKS is 0.91%, bagasse 0.21% and straw lower is 0.22%.

Abstract

Kebutuhan kedelai dari tahun ke tahun terus mengalami peningkatan menurut (BPS). Data dari pusat data dan informasi pertanian menyebutkan bahwa kebutuhan konsumsi kedelai dalam negeri tahun 2015 sebanyak 2,35 juta ton. Masih terdapat kekurangan pasokan sebanyak satu juta ton. Usaha peningkatan produktivitas kedelai salah satunya yaitu pengaplikasian elisitor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons pertumbuhan dan produksi kedelai varietas wilis terhadap aplikas ielisitor. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Pasar 1 Tanjung Sari, Kecamatan Medan Sunggal, Medan, pada bulan Juni-Agustus 2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok non faktorial yaitu: tanpa elisitor,Kitosan 0,5 mg/ml pada V4,Kitosan 0,5 mg/ml pada R3, Asam salisilat 0,5 mM pada V4,Asam salisilat 0,5 mM pada R3,Kitosan 0,5 mg/ml pada V4 dan R3,Asam salisilat 0,5 mM pada V4 dan R3 . Paramater yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah polong berisi dan bobotkering 100 biji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada minggu ke 6(54,47cm), sedangkan pada parameter total luas daun (2454,00 cm2 ), jumlah polong berisi (178,20 polong) dan bobot kering 100 biji (10,47 g) berpengaruh tidak nyata.

Abstract

The low productivity of soybean in Indonesia was caused by natural factors, biotics, cultivation techniques and soybean plant physiology. Extensification program to meet the needs of soybeans can be solved by using dry land, of drought stress. The study was conducted at the Screen house Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 32 meters above sea level), on July to October 2017, using a randomized block design with 2 treatment factors. The first factor is drought stress with 3 levels ie 80% ; 60% and 40% field of capacity(FC) . The second factor is an ascorbic acid with 4 levels of concentration ie: 0 ; 100 ; 200 and 300 ppm.. The observed of variables ie number of leaves, total leaf area, dry seed weight per plant, 100 seed weight and harvest index. The results showed that the increased treatment of drought stress (80 – 40% FC) had the significant on all observed variables. The Ascorbic acid treatment no significant on all observed variable with the average number of leaves and the highest total leaf area at use 200 ppm ascorbic acid and the lowest at control treatment. The interaction no significant on all observed variable.

Abstract

Wilayah Sub DAS Sibarau termasuk wilayah yang memiliki lahan agak kritis atau semi kritis yang cukup luas yaitu sekitar 13.163,59 ha dari keseluruhan luas Sub DAS yaitu 25.005,89 ha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji sifat kimia dan fisika tanah Ultisol pada beberapa vegetasi di Desa Amborokan Pane Raya, Kecamatan Raya Kahean. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei hingga September 2017 dengan menggunakan metode survei. Sampel tanah diambil sebanyak 3 titik untuk setiap vegetasi dan kemiringan yang berbeda pada kedalaman 1-10 cm dan 10-20 cm dengan menggunakan metode acak sederhana. Parameter tanah yang diukur adalah kemasaman tanah (elektrometri), dan kandungan karbon organik tanah (Walkley and Black), dan tekstur tanah (hydrometer bouyoucos). Analisis tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium PT. Socfin Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada kemiringan 0-8% rata-rata nilai pH tanah sebesar 4,61% dan C-organik 1,04% sedangkan pada kemiringan 8-15% rata-rata nilai pH tanah sebesar 4,46% dan C-organik 0,91%. Pada kemiringan 0-8% nilai rata-rata fraksi liat 20,27%, fraksi debu 15,02% dan fraksi pasir 64,41% sedangkan pada kemiringan 8-15% nilai rata-rata fraksi liat 27,48%, fraksi debu 19,87%, dan fraksi pasir 52,63%.

Abstract

Andisol soil erupted ash sinabung has a thickness level, where each thickness has microbial activity and nutrient status of soil who different. This study aims to determine the potential of phosphate solubilization microorganisms on soil erupted ash sinabung. This research was conducted at Soil Biology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture USU, which the isolation of microorganisms is fungi and bacteria from the soil erupted Sinabung in some ash thickness to get the isolates to be tested the potential solubility. Isolate tested for their solubility potential in two ways: solid pikovskaya medium with source of phosphate Ca3(PO4)2, AlPO4, FePO4, and RP (Rock Phosphate) and in Andisol soil incubation with microbial dose as much as 1 ml. The result showed that there were 6 isolates of fungi (J1-J6) and 6 bacterial isolates (B1-B6) and the provision of phosphate solubilization microorganisms on Andisol soil has different potential in increasing microbial population, soil respiration, P-total soil, P-available soil, but can decrease C-organic soil with soil acidity degree (pH) and each type of MPF isolate tested will be able to dissolve P-not available to be P-available on solid pikovskaya medium with source of phosphate Ca3(PO4)2, AlPO4, FePO4 and Rock Phosphate but have different capabilities

Abstract

Penelitian ini di lakukan untuk mengetahui respons pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kedelai (Glycine Max) terhadap pemberian alelopati lalang ( Imperata cylindrica ) dan babadotan (Ageratum Conyzoides yang di laksanakan di lahan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara yang di mulai pada bulan April sampai bulan juli 2017, menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok non faktorial, dengan perlakuan ekstrak alelopati lalang dengan 0, 50, 100, 150 ml dan ekstrak alelopati babadotan dosis 50, 100, 150 ml. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pemberian alelopati babadotan berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter diameter batang, jumlah polong hampa, jumlah polong berisi, cabang produktif.

Abstract

Acid sulphate soil has potential to be good agricultural land if the condition meets. Therefore This research was conduct to learn the effect of several amendment, fertilizer and sulphate reduction bacteria (SRB) on the growth of oil palm seedlings and increasing nutrient content of oil plam seedlings.This research did on april 2017 until desember 2017, and used acid sulphate soil from Unit Payarambe PT. Mopoli Raya Aceh Tamiang Indonesia, and used oil palm seedling (3 month old). This research used Randomized Block Design with 3 treatments : Several amandment (without amandement, empty fruit bunches oil palm 30 tonnes/ha, Dolomie 15,8 tonnes/ha), fertilizers (without fertilizer, given fertilizer 2,5grams/seedling), and sulphate reduction bacteria (without SRB and given SRB 15 ml with total population 108/cc) with 6 replication. The results showed that the application empty fruit bunches oil palm compost 30 tonnes/ha increased plant height and stem statiscally significant after 28 weeks application. The best treatment was empty fruit bunches oil palm compost 30 tonnes/ha combined with inoculum of sulphate reduction bacteria.

Abstract

The aims of this research were to analyze morpo_physiology changing of soybean underthe oil palm area; determine the effect of shading and N fertilizer dosage on the growth and yieldof soybean under the oil palm area, and determine suitable soybean varieties that enablegrow and produce under oil palm. The experiment located in Ujung Labuan Village, DeliSerdang District. The experiment was arranged in Split-split Plot Design 3 x 4 x 3 with3 replication, with three factors observed: 1) shade level, consist of: under 4 years oldoil palm, under 6 years old oil palm, open area, 2) N dosage: 200 kg urea/ha, 150 kg/ha,100 kg urea/ha, 0 kg urea/ha, 3) soybean variety: Anjasmoro, Burangrang, andGrobogan. Plant height, leaf area, plant dry weight, and soybean production weredetermined. The result showed there were some significant effects of interaction factorsbetween oil-palm canopy shading, N dosage and soybean variety on growth and yield ofsoybean. The highest growth and production of soybean found in open areas. Between 4years old oil palm and 6-7 years old oil palm, soybean growth, and production areinsignificant different and lower than those on the opening area. N dosage makes somesignificant effects on growth and yield of soybean, which is usually nonsignificantbetween 150 kg Urea/ha or 200 kg Urea/ha. Meanwhile, soybean variety makes somesignificant effects. At the open area, burangrang make the highest growth and production byapplication of 200 kg urea/ha, but under oil palm, the highest production found atBurangrang under 4 years old oil palm and application of 200 kg urea/ha, followed byseveral treatments that are insignificantly different.
