The study aims to explain how the meaning piil pesenggiri has been reproduced in the repositioning of ulun lampung's cultural identity, related to how ulun lampung interpret piil pesenggiri as a cultural capital and strategy cultural. The data were obtained through in-depth interviews from a number of informants to obtain a comprehensive description of piil pesenggiri based on their experiences in the social world. The production and reproduction of piil pesenggiri as an invention is processed to serve a cultural capital and identity strategy on the social structure vis-a-vis migrants can be viewed as a reteritorialization of identity. Changing the negative stigma that has piil pesenggiri used as cultural "shields" manifested in the various actions is the construction of ulun lampung with a new image through field of education, cultural symbols, or political field, and a process for gaining recognition in terms of their existence identity in the social structure. Abstract

The goal of this study is to examine intergroup bias among people who use roads in Jakarta. Intergroup bias refers to the tendency to prioritize, treat and perceive in-group members more favorable than out-groups. Three different groups of road users participated in this study: private drivers, motor riders, and public transportation drivers. Intergroup bias is measured as perception bias and attribution bias. The findings show that both forms of bias occur among the road users. Intergroup attribution bias that is found among the three groups are more in-group than out-group attribution bias. The private car drivers, motor riders, and public transportation drivers tend to attribute positive behavior of in-group to internal factor and negative behavior of in-group to external factors. Index of effect size in perception bias indicates substantive levels and represents large effect in the population.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to understand the relation between principles of self-regulation and health behaviors, including which self-regulation principles used. Using three principles of self-regulation which are regulatory anticipation, regulatory reference, and regulatory focus (Higgins, Grant, & Shah, 1999) this study examined the role of those principles on health behavior among people in DKI Jakarta. The health behavior was divided into health promotive behavior and health preventive behavior. This study was conducted to 385 citizens of DKI Jakarta (200 males and 185 females with average age is 32 years old). Data analysis using multiple regressions indicated the role of self-regulation principles on health behaviour.

Abstract

The present study was aimed to develop implicit association test (IAT) as a measure of implicit attitude and to test whether IAT had good validity and reliability to measure implicit attitude between Moslems and Christians in Indonesia. Both Moslems and Christians were participated in this study. The results showed that IAT is valid and reliable to measure implicit attitude related to religion. Furthermore, IAT was able to reveal more attitudinal discrimination between Moslem and Christian categories than it would be revealed by the explicit measures of the same religion-related attitude. IAT was also able to reveal opposed evaluations even for participants who deny, on self-report measures, any prejudice toward their out-group. Whether IAT effects indicated prejudice is discussed.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of three intervention programs, i.e. CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), humor appeal advertisements (positive ads), and fear appeal advertisements (negative ads) in reducing aggressive driving behavior. 196 young adults age between 18–35 years old, who are considered to be at risk in performing aggressive driving behavior had completed four self report inventories. The four inventories measures perception on traffic conditions, degree of frustration, anger emotion, and driving behavior. Analysis of mix factorial desigm shows that CBT intervention program is more effective than the advertising intervention program, particularly in reducing the degree of frustration and emotional upset. However, no significant difference between humor appeal and fear appeal advertisements in reducing the level of frustration and anger emotion. Moreover, CBT program as well as the other two advertising intervention programs is not sufficient enough to reduce driving behavior. Based on the A-BC Theory of Emotonal Arousal proposed by Ellis, this result indicates that safety driving behavior (factor C) among young drivers cannot be achieved through these intervention programs, although their belief and emotion (factor B) has been changed. This study implies that other modification behavior technique, i.e. strong penalty from the author (police) is needed to encourage safer driving behavior of Indonesian young driver
