Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic growth, inflation, exchange rate, and labor force on the inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indonesia. FDI plays a crucial role in supporting the economic development of emerging countries like Indonesia by contributing capital, transferring technology, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing productivity. The research uses annual time-series data from 1994 to 2023, sourced from the World Bank, and applies the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) for analysis. The findings indicate that, in the long run, all four variables significantly affect FDI. Economic growth and the labor force have a positive impact, whereas inflation and the exchange rate exert a negative influence. In the short run, however, none of the variables show a statistically significant effect on FDI. These results highlight the importance of maintaining macroeconomic stability and improving labor quality to strengthen Indonesia's attractiveness to foreign investors.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the impact of inflation, exchange rate, and production on Indonesia's palm oil exports to Pakistan. The analysis was conducted using the Error Correction Model (ECM), which enabled identification of both short- and long-term relationships among the variables. The tests carried out in this study included the Stationarity Test, Cointegration Test, and Classical Assumption Tests, which consisted of the Multicollinearity Test, Normality Test, Heteroscedasticity Test, and Autocorrelation Test. The data used were secondary data obtained from publications by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the World Bank, covering a period of 33 years, from 1991 to 2023. The results of the study indicated that in the long term, inflation and the exchange rate had positive but insignificant effects on exports, while production had a positive and significant effect. In the short term, inflation had a positive and significant impact, while the exchange rate and production remained positively related to exports, although their effects were not statistically significant on Indonesia's palm oil exports to Pakistan.

Abstract

The high dependence on beef imports, despite the increase in domestic production, highlights the urgency of strengthening the beef cattle subsector to enhance food security and regional economic development. This study aims to analyze the contribution of beef cattle productivity to regional economic development by examining the effects of feed availability and pellet feed on productivity, food security, and regional development in Madura Island. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with data collected from 400 beef cattle farmers across four districts. The findings reveal that feed availability significantly influences productivity but does not have a direct impact on regional economic development. In contrast, pellet feed plays a crucial role not only in improving productivity but also in exerting a strong direct effect on regional economic development. Beef cattle productivity is proven to be a key mediating variable that channels the influence of feed inputs on both food security and regional development. These results underscore the importance of policy strategies that balance forage management with the adoption of pellet feed technology to strengthen food security while simultaneously promoting sustainable regional economic development.

Abstract

Climate change and environmental degradation are linked to carbon emissions (CO₂), foreign direct investment (FDI), and deforestation, which are central to sustainable development research. This study analyzes their relationship from 2001 to 2023 using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The Augmented Dickey-Fuller and Johansen tests confirm that all variables are integrated of order one (I(1)) and share a long-term equilibrium relationship, thereby justifying the model choice. Results show that deforestation significantly reduces carbon emissions in the long run, while FDI has a positive but marginal effect. In the short run, only deforestation adjusts to restore balance. Diagnostic tests confirm model stability and reliability. Granger causality reveals that FDI drives deforestation, while emissions and FDI jointly influence it. The Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) show that carbon emissions are mainly self-driven, while FDI and emissions increasingly shape deforestation. These findings highlight the need for integrated economic–environmental policies.

Abstract

Salt production in Madura plays a strategic role in the regional economy but continues to face challenges of low productivity and limited farmer welfare. This study aims to analyze the influence of geomembrane technology and production management on salt productivity and its implications for the welfare of salt farmers. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Primary data were obtained through Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to 230 salt farmers across four districts of Madura—Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep—using a purposive sampling technique. The results show that geomembrane technology has a positive effect on both productivity and farmer welfare, while production management exerts a more dominant influence on salt productivity. Furthermore, productivity is proven to act as a mediating variable that links the influence of geomembrane technology and production management with farmer welfare. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating technological innovation with effective management practices as a strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of the local salt industry and to strengthen the economic resilience of coastal regions.

Abstract

This study analyses the influence of Oil and Gas Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH Migas), the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), the Human Development Index (HDI), and global oil prices on economic growth and poverty in Bojonegoro Regency during the 1995–2024 period. Using annual time-series data and a quantitative approach, the analysis employs the ADF stationarity test, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS), the Durbin–Wu–Hausman endogeneity test, and the Toda–Yamamoto causality procedure. The results show that the HDI positively affects economic growth, whereas unemployment and poverty negatively affect growth; however, not all relationships are statistically significant. Oil and Gas DBH and global oil prices are not strong determinants of regional GDP, indicating Bojonegoro's reliance on external factors inherent in the oil and gas sector. In the poverty model, unemployment is the most influential variable, whereas GDP, the HDI, and oil prices do not exhibit significant direct effects. The Toda–Yamamoto causality test reveals causal relationships from HDI to GDP, from unemployment to poverty, and from poverty to HDI, whereas most variable pairs do not exhibit reciprocal causality. Overall, the findings suggest that Bojonegoro's economic development is driven more by improvements in human capital and employment opportunities than by fluctuations in oil and gas revenues.

Abstract

Instability in the banking sector can trigger a domino effect on the broader economy. Therefore, monitoring banks' risk-taking behavior is a crucial part of supervisory and economic policy development. This study aims to analyze how monetary and macroprudential policies influence banking risk-taking in Indonesia from 2015 to 2024. Financial stability is not solely determined by interest rate policy but also by macroprudential tools that help mitigate systemic risks. This research employs the System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) with a sample of 33 commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The findings indicate that monetary policy (CBRATE) and macroprudential policy (MAPP) significantly impact banking stability, measured by the Z-score. When tested together, both policies work in a complementary manner, suggesting that coordinated policies can enhance the resilience of the financial system. Additionally, profitability (ROA) boosts bank stability, whereas exchange rate depreciation (ER) tends to undermine it. These results demonstrate that the synergy between monetary and macroprudential policies is vital for maintaining banking stability in Indonesia, particularly during global and post-pandemic periods.
