Abstract

The background of this research is the low matematical problem solving ability of students. To improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities the application of the missouri mathematics project (MMP) and team games tournament (TGT) learning models is used. The research aims to find out the improvement of students 'mathematical problem solving abilities through the application of a combination of MMP learning models and TGT is better than the problem based learning (PBL) learning model and students' responses to the application of the MMP learning model mix and the TGT. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. The population in this study were all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Bojongsoang. The sample is students of class VII-D as an experimental class given a combination of MMP learning models and TGT and class VII-E as a control class given a PBL model. The instruments used were tests of mathematical problem solving abilities, student questionnaires, and observation sheets. Based on the analysis of the mathematical problem solving ability test results, it was concluded that the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities through the application of a MMP learning model and TGT was better than the PBL model and based on the questionnaire analysis, it was concluded that the students responded positive towards the application of the MMP learning model mix and the TGT.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students' mathematical understanding in mathematics learning. One alternative to improve students' mathematical understanding skills is the STAD type cooperative learning model (Student Teams Achievement Division). The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the ability of mathematical understanding of students who gained learning with the STAD model and the students who received learning with the PBL (Problem Based Learning). The research method used was the quasi-experimental method with the Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. This research was conducted in one of the Public Middle Schools in Bandung. The population were all eighth grade students, with the sample being students of class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII C as the control class. The instruments used were in the form of tests of mathematical comprehension abilities, and educator observation sheets. Based on the results of the t-test analysis, it was concluded that the increase in the ability of mathematical understanding of students who obtained learning with the STAD was higher than the students who obtained learning with the PBL profiles of students who obtained learning with the STAD included in the high category in mathematics learning.

Abstract

The background of this research on the rectangular study is learning obstacle (LO) experienced by learners. Instructional design based on the LO experienced learners is one alternative to reduce of learning obstacle. This research aims (1) identified LO on rectangular study, (2) develop of the didactical design based on LO and relevant learning theories, (3) describe the didactical design after implementation. This research used didactical design research and qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used triangulation techniques. Research conducted at SMP Al-Qona’ah Baleendah with the subjects 38 learners class of VIII-B and 36 learners class of VII-A. The first step in the research is the analysis of the situation by conducting a test didactical diagnostic tests and interview semi-structure to identify learning obstacle experienced by learners. The second step devised a didactical design based LO and reinforced by relevant learning theories. The result of the design implementation are analyzed based on the metapedadidaktik analysis and retrosfektif analysis. The results concluded that: (1) There are four types of rectangular LO, (2) the didactical design is based on the identified LO of the learners, (3) the result of the implementation showed that didactical design can reduce LO experienced learners.

Abstract

This research study is motivated by assessments in study groups that tended to be an individual assessment to each student, which resulted to the lack of students’ motivation to teach their friends in the groups who do not understand the material, so the discussion process in learning is less effective. The purpose of this research study is to observe the pattern of effective assessment on the cooperative model learning in terms of student learning outcomes. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with a type of reflection research. The reflection is used to get feedback on the lessons learned, including: 1) Lesson reports 2) Surveys and questionnaires, 3) Audio and video recordings, 4) Observation. Data collection is done by tests, interviews, documentation and observations. The results of the study of previous studies obtained four models of assessment patterns; low levels students assessment pattern, medium levels students assessment pattern, group average assessment pattern, and individual assessment pattern. Based on the results of the analysis, this research study concludes that the effective assessment pattern in achieving learning objectives in cooperative learning is with the group average assessment model.

Abstract

The underlying problem of this research is the low ability of students in mathematical representation in learning mathematics. One alternative learning that can be applied to improve students' mathematical representation ability is the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) approach. The purpose of this study is to analyze the improvement of mathematical representation ability of students who learn using the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) approach with students learning to use the expository method. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with the nonequvallent pretest and posttest group control design. The study was conducted in one of the junior high schools in Bandung Regency. The population in this study were all students with samples namely class VII A (experimental class) and VII B (control class). The research data obtained from the use of instruments in the form of mathematical representation ability tests and questionnaire responses of students. The results of the analysis show that: 1) Increasing the mathematical representation ability of students who get learning using the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) approach is better than students who get learning with the expository method, 2) Students' responses to learning using the Creative Problem Solving approach (CPS) positive.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low of students’ mathematical connection ability. Guided inquiry-based student worksheets was used as an alternative to improve students' ability. The purpose of this research was determine the effect of using guided inquiry-based student worksheets on students' mathematical connection ability in mathematics learning. The research was conducted in one of the state junior high school in the city of Bandung. The population in this study were all VII grade students, with the sample were VII 4 class students as the control class and VII 9 class as the experimental class. The instruments used were a matter of students’ mathematical connection ability test and observation sheet of educator activities. Based on the analysis of the Cohen's d test, it was concluded that the use of guided inquiry-based student worksheets affected students' mathematical connection ability.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low of student’s mathematical representation ability. The one of  alternative learning that is applied to improve the mathematical representation ability of students by using Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach. This study aims to improve students’ mathematical representation abilities, as well as knowing students' responses to the learning process with the CPA approach. The research method was CAR which consist of planning, action, observation, evaluation, and reflection. The subject of this research was the students of class VII Ukhuwah MTs Al-Hijrah. Research instruments were include: student observation sheets, teacher observation sheets, formative tests, questionnaires and journals. The results of the research were qualitative and quantitative datas. Qualitative data was obtained from student observation sheets, teacher observation sheets, questionnaires, and journals. Quantitative datas includes formative tests carried out at the end of each cycle. The results of the formative test analysis showed that the mathematical representation ability of students using CPA approaches increased, and the activities of students with the CPA approach also increased. Based on the results of the journal and questionnaire the students responses positively to the learning process using the CPA approach.

Abstract

The less mathematical critical ability of learners was the one of the problem that observed in this study.Probing Prompting model was the one of the alternative learning that can be applied to improve the mathematical critical ability of learners. The purpose of this study was to know the influence of increased the mathematical critical ability  by using Probing Prompting learning model, and students' perceptions of assessment in mathematical learning. Non-equivalent control group design was used in this quarsi-experimental study. The research conducted in one of the Junior High Schools in Bandung Districts. The population of the study were all students in a second grade, the sample of this study werestudents of VIII E as experimental class and VIII B as the control class. Experimental class was applied the Probing Prompting learning model and the control class was applied the Discovery Learning model. Mathematical critical ability test, questionnaire, and observation sheet were the instruments of this study. The result of the study were qualitative and quantitative data. Depend on the analysis of the result, it can be concluded that Probing Prompting model has an influence in the learning process on improving mathematical critical abilityand the students’ perceptions of assessment in mathematical learning model was positive.
