Abstract

Quranic education plays a crucial role in shaping the spiritual, moral, and character foundations of young Muslims. The ability to read the Quran from an early age is not only related to technical skills but also serves as a means of internalizing Islamic values that strengthen children's faith and morals. One form of non-formal education that plays a significant role in this process is afternoon Quranic study activities, which still exist in various rural areas. This study aims to analyse the role of afternoon Quranic study activities in developing children's Quranic reading skills in Selemak Village, Hamparan Perak District. These activities are carried out simply under the guidance of a female teacher who adapts teaching methods to each child's individual abilities. The results show that afternoon Quranic study activities not only improve the technical aspects of Quranic reading such as pronunciation, pronunciation, and tajwid—but also foster learning motivation, discipline, and religious character through learning in a family-like and spiritual atmosphere. However, challenges remain, such as limited Quranic study teachers, limited learning facilities, and the influence of children's modern lifestyles in the digital era. Therefore, innovation in learning methods and collaboration between teachers, parents, and the community are needed to ensure that afternoon Quranic recitation activities remain relevant and effective as a community-based Islamic educational platform. Thus, afternoon Quranic recitation activities can be viewed as an integral part of the Islamic education system, not only fostering Quranic reading skills but also shaping a Quranic generation with noble morals, Islamic personalities, and the ability to face the challenges of modernity

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication methods within the organization and cultural issues that occur in the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), specifically in the Leadership of the Muhammadiyah Student Association Commissariat (PK IMM) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra. This research is important because good communication within the organization helps maintain alignment of goals, strengthen shared identity, and ensure the organization's long-term survival. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through observation, in-depth interviews, and document collection. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and interpretive conclusion drawing steps. The results show that communication methods in PK IMM FISIP UMSU include active vertical, horizontal, and informal communication, but still face several obstacles, such as low participation of new members, an unorganized information system, and a lack of two-way communication. Cultural challenges that arise include differences in backgrounds, communication styles, and the level of understanding of IMM values that is not evenly distributed among members. The lack of strategies for managing cultural diversity leads to the risk of misunderstanding and reduces organizational effectiveness. The research conclusions emphasize the importance of strengthening participatory communication systems, increasing intercultural understanding, and improving the role of leaders as facilitators of inclusive communication to create more adaptive, harmonious, and sustainable organizations

Abstract

Animated films are a form of media that is very popular with various groups, especially children and teenagers. Apart from being entertainment, animated films can also be a means of education and the formation of social values in daily life. This study aims to analyze the representation of LGBT+ scenes in two animated films produced by Disney, namely Lightyear and Zootopia, using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Animated films have an important role not only as entertainment, but also as a medium for shaping social values and identities. This study aims to analyze the representation of LGBT+ scenes in two animated films produced by Disney, namely Lightyear and Zootopia, using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Animated films have an important role not only as entertainment, but also as a medium for shaping social values and identities. Lightyear features explicit LGBT representation through the character of Captain Alisha Hawthorne who has a same-sex partner and is portrayed as building a family. Instead, Zootopia presents an implicit representation of LGBT through the characters of Bucky and Pronk Oryx-Antlerson who are positioned as same-sex couples. The analysis is carried out through three levels of Barthes' meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results show that at the level of denotation, films show literal scenes about same-sex relationships; at the level of connotation, the scene communicates the social meaning of equality, diversity, and normalization of LGBT identity; Meanwhile, at the mythical level, the film builds an ideological narrative that the ideal modern society is inclusive and multicultural. The findings also confirm that Disney used a different representation strategy: explicit in Lightyear to emphasize progressivity, and implicit in Zootopia as a careful strategy in dealing with global market sensitivities. This research is expected to contribute to the study of communication, especially the study of media representation, as well as to enrich the literature on the relationship between children's media, gender, and popular culture

Abstract

This study analyzes the comparative green tourism policies of Indonesia and Malaysia from a comparative public administration perspective. The effectiveness of sustainable tourism is determined not only by the substance of the policy but also by the institutional structure and governance capacity of the country. The study uses a qualitative approach with a comparative public policy design. The results show that Indonesia implements a decentralized participatory green governance model that emphasizes community empowerment and regional flexibility, but faces the challenge of fragmented implementation due to variations in institutional capacity. In contrast, Malaysia has developed a centralized regulatory green governance model that is more consistent in standardizing and overseeing policies through strong federal coordination. Differences in state administrative structures have been shown to be a determining factor in the design and effectiveness of sustainable tourism policies. This study confirms that strengthening green tourism requires a balance between national regulatory consistency and local participation as the foundation of sustainable governance.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the complexity of the work system at PT. Bridgestone Sumatera Rubber Estate, where coordination between leaders and employees in the Quality Control (QC) Department is a determining factor in product quality consistency. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of organizational communication between leaders and employees in maintaining rubber production quality at PT. Bridgestone Sumatera Rubber Estate. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving one QC Department manager and four QC employees. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that organizational communication runs effectively through four functions: informative through shift briefings, visual discussions, and WhatsApp groups; regulative through participatory SOP socialization based on flowcharts; persuasive through a diagnostic approach when procedural violations occur; and integrative through a two-way communication system formalized in shift reporting forms. The notable finding of this study is the application of the HORENSO system (Houkoku, Renraku, Soudan), which makes communication responsibility not merely about delivering a message but ensuring the message is understood by the recipient, as well as the SPT procedure (Stop, Call, Wait) as a standardized emergency communication mechanism. This research concludes that structured, two-way organizational communication grounded in a strong work culture directly contributes to the success of rubber production quality control. This research is motivated by the complexity of the work system at PT. Abstract

Civil registration services are public services that play a crucial role in ensuring the legal identity of citizens and meeting other service needs. In practice, civil registration services still face challenges such as limited access to services, geographical conditions of the region, and the public’s low understanding of the importance of civil registration documents. As a solution, the Batu Bara Regency Government launched the BERLAYAR Program (Regent’s Synergy in Serving the Community) to bring services closer to the public. However, the effectiveness of this program heavily depends on communication strategies to ensure service information is conveyed optimally. This study examines the communication strategies of the Batu Bara Regency Population and Civil Registry Office in providing population administration services through the BERLAYAR Program. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving functional officials, field staff, and the public as service recipients. The results indicate that communication strategies within the BERLAYAR Program are implemented through the stages of research, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. Information dissemination is carried out through interagency coordination, the use of social media, and direct face-to-face communication with the public. This communication strategy helps make it easier for the public to access civil registration services and increases public awareness of the importance of civil registration documents.
