Abstract

Leadership is one of the main factors that determine employee performance in an organization. Effective leadership not only acts as a director who gives instructions, but also encourages employee dedication. Organizational communication also plays an equally important role in improving employee performance. Effective communication can strengthen coordination between employees, reduce misunderstandings, and accelerate the completion of existing tasks. The Secretariat of the Aceh Singkil Regency DPRD is responsible for administrative and operational efficiency, but faces internal challenges such as leadership, communication, and organizational culture that have an impact on employee productivity. This study uses a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 43 employees of the Aceh Singkil Regency People's Representative Council Secretariat office. Data collection techniques used observation and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used are validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear analysis tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence between leadership, organizational communication and organizational culture on the performance of Aceh Singkil Regency DPRD Secretariat employees. Based on the results of the determination test, the determination coefficient is 0.877. This value shows that the variables of leadership, organizational communication, and organizational culture explain the variation of employee performance variables by 87.7% and the remaining 12.3% is explained by other variables outside the study.

Abstract

Binjai City is an area located in North Sumatra Province, but it is not free from rubbish. Waste is one of the main problems that arises as a result of human activities. The increasing human population causes an increase in human activity which also increases the remaining results of human activity itself, as well as sources of the results of human activity and natural processes which are considered to have no economic value, and can even have negative economic value because they require quite large management costs. . In order to realize good waste management, this is the aim of implementing Law Number 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management in the City of Binjai. To find out the obstacles faced by the City Government, especially the Binjai City Environmental Service, in carrying out its authority and the regulations implemented. Method The research that will be used in this thesis is a descriptive method with qualitative analysis. Data analysis is used by reviewing the results of interviews which include strategic aspects in the system or process of implementing policies, goals and objectives to be achieved in implementing policies, the process of implementing and maximizing functional and main tasks. The theory that I use is Tachjan, which in terms of the level of success of an implementation is the implementation element, the program being implemented, the target group and the presence of environmental, social, cultural and political factors. From the results of the study or analysis of data from interviews regarding these aspects, it was concluded that the implementation of Binjai Mayor Regulation No. 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management in Binjai City carried out by the Binjai City Environmental Service has generally gone well, but there are still shortcomings and Obstacles in its implementation are caused by several factors such as deficiencies in facilities that hinder effectiveness in controlling, lack of employee performance, unclear financial funds, less effective communication and information towards the community, and policies that have never been updated.

Abstract

The importance of a brand in the development of product or service businesses is evident from the high consumer desire to use goods or services with well-known brands. A widely recognized brand is often associated with quality, trust, and certain values, which encourage consumers to choose it over other products or services. Based on the researcher’s observations, the problem that occurs is the high market competition in product sales. Therefore, with the "Love PTPN Products" movement program, it is expected that more people will get to know and choose PTPN products. The aim of this research is to understand the public relations communication strategy of PTPN 4 Regional II in carrying out the "Love PTPN Products" movement program. The theory used in this research is the theory of internal and external communication. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The techniques used to collect data include interviews, observations, and documentation conducted by the author at the research location. The data analysis techniques performed include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The researcher conducted interviews with two informants: the head of the sub-division and the public relations secretary of PTPN 4 Regional II. Based on the observations made by the researcher, the communication carried out by the public relations team of PTPN 4 Regional II used internal communication techniques by providing product testimonials to employees, followed by requiring employees to buy and use the company’s products. Additionally, the company also uses its own products to meet office facilities and equipment needs. In external communication, the company collaborates with various institutions and stakeholders, providing testimonials to each stakeholder as a form of product introduction. Another strategy is that the company always attends various events to introduce products and also utilizes social media to promote the products.

Abstract

The problem faced by teachers towards students with multiple visual impairments is the obstacles in communicating so that it often hinders the learning process. the research entitled Teacher Communication Approach to Students with Multiple Visual Impairments in the Learning Process at Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Harapan Baru aims to provide a concrete description of how the communication approach taken by teachers to students with multiple visual impairments in the learning process at Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Harapan Baru. Multiple blindness is a condition of individuals who experience visual impairment (blindness) along with other disabilities, such as hearing impairment, intellectual impairment, motor impairment, or a combination of several of these conditions. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants in this study are teachers who teach at Yayasan Pendidikan Dwituna Harapan Baru. The data analysis technique was carried out with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing based on the findings in the field. The results showed that the communication carried out by the teacher was tailored to the needs and conditions of each student. such as touch, communication aids, and routine activities that help students more easily understand the lesson. the process in the teacher's communication approach to compound blind children consists of 5 approaches, namely: openness, empathy, support, a positive learning atmosphere, and equality

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the presentation of Instagram content on the @shiftmedia.id account as a means of digital da'wah, with a focus on the visuals and audio used. In the digital era, social media such as Instagram has become an effective platform for conveying da'wah messages, especially to the younger generation. The @shiftmedia.id account was chosen because of its popularity and consistency in presenting relevant and interesting da'wah video content. The research method used is qualitative content analysis with a descriptive approach. The data collected includes da'wah video content uploaded by the @shiftmedia.id account. This study analyzes aspects such as text color, text message content, video background, and audio. The results of the study show that the @shiftmedia.id account has succeeded in utilizing the Instagram application as a means of presenting creative and easy-to-understand da'wah content. The content covers various religious topics presented to the younger generation and uses good language and is relevant to everyday life. In addition to the message content, the selection of appropriate text colors, and an interesting video background, audio that supports the audience's atmosphere is also an important element in presenting content. This study revealed that the @shiftmedia.id account has succeeded in optimizing Instagram as a means of digital da'wah. With the presentation of creative, effective, innovative, and relevant da'wah content, this account is able to reach a wide audience and make a positive contribution in spreading religious values in the digital era.

Abstract

Advertisements not only function as a means of promoting products or services, but also as a medium to increase public awareness of social and environmental issues. The advertisement of the movement of kindness beyond limits is an advertisement that emphasizes moral and social education. This study aims to analyze how the stages of narrative structure in the advertisement of the movement of kindness beyond limits form the delivery of moral messages. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a structuralist narrative analysis approach by Tzvetan Todorov and the moral theory of Burhan Nurgiyantoro. The data collection technique in this study uses observation and documentation techniques with data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification of conclusions. Data were analyzed through the identification of Todorov's narrative stages (equilibrium, disruption, recognition, repair the damage, new equilibrium) and Nurgiyantoro's moral perspective. The results of the study show that the narrative stages in advertisements are interrelated in forming moral messages. Advertisements progressively lead the audience to understand the context, feel empathy for the characters, and accept the moral messages conveyed. The main message in this advertisement emphasizes the importance of empathy, social concern, and solidarity in community life

Abstract

Every individual requires continuous information for complete understanding. The media industry and its professionals, including presenters, are responsible for delivering news effectively. In conventional media, the communication style of presenters tends to be formal, static, and adheres to broadcasting standards. However, the digital era, particularly platforms like TikTok, has transformed how society accesses news. Presenters now adjust their communication style to suit TikTok's characteristics and audience. One example is the Patroli Files program on TikTok account @patroli.indosiar, where presenters maintain a professional style but with a more expressive and dynamic approach compared to the rigid and less expressive style of conventional media. This study aims to analyze the communication style of presenters in delivering news on the Patroli Files program on TikTok account @patroli.indosiar. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques including observation and documentation. Data analysis applies Miles and Huberman's model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The theory employed is Robert Norton’s communication style theory, which includes ten categories with specific indicators. The findings indicate that the presenters’ communication style in the Patroli Files program is flexible, adapting arrangement, intonation, and gestures to the platform’s characteristics. They predominantly use seven out of ten communication styles from Robert Norton: dominant, dramatic, contentious, animated, impressive, open, and precise, making the news delivery engaging, dynamic, and memorable. In contrast, relaxed, attentive, and friendly styles are rarely observed, as the serious, professional, and informative nature of the news prevails, setting apart TikTok’s expressive style from conventional media’s rigidity.

Abstract

In today's digital era, the use of gadgets by children has become common and unavoidable. Technology offers various educational and entertainment benefits so that without adequate supervision from parents, children are at risk of being exposed to inappropriate content and experiencing negative impacts on child development. The purpose of this study was to find out how parents communicate with their children to provide understanding regarding things in gadget use. The method in this study is to use a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. Researchers conducted interviews with 5 parents in Deli Serdang Regency who have children in the alpha generation category. The results of the study showed that there were authoritarian communication patterns and democratic communication patterns used by parents in supervising gadget use in children

Abstract

The most widely used social media today, both personally and organizationally is Instagram. The main purpose of Instagram, especially for companies, is to build the image or reputation of a company's products or services. One of them is PTPN IV Regional 2 with the Instagram account @ptpn4_regional2 which uses Instagram to convey all information related to their activities. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning and elements contained in the content on Instagram @ptpn4_regional2. The method used in this study is Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis consisting of denotation, connotation, and myth with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected from a number of content uploads with certain meanings and uses of elements. The results obtained indicate that the content on the @ptpn4_regional2 account has interesting visuals and meanings. The conclusion of this study indicates that the content on the @ptpn4_regional2 account is quite effective as an effort to develop the company's reputation.

Abstract

The issue of gender interpretation in the television media industry in the digital era affects the experiences and interpretations of female journalists' identities. Restorative communication is an approach to resolving conflicts and building relationships carried out by companies to provide support to female television journalists. This study aims to analyze the role of restorative communication in the interpretation of female gender in journalist groups in the digital era. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a qualitative descriptive research type. Data collected through observation results, structured interviews with 5 (five) female journalists and 1 (one) news team leader who work from various different television stations and documentation. The results of the study show that the interpretation of gender identity by female television journalists is very diverse, influenced by individual experiences in the work environment, and social interactions. Female journalists still face challenges in the form of stereotypes, discrimination and gender-based violence, both in physical and digital spaces. However, gender identity is also understood as asocial capital that can strengthen the work approach of female journalists, especially in situations that require empathy and sensitivity. Restorative communication from the company in the form of a safe reporting mechanism, legal support, professional guidance and provision of adequate work facilities, provides a positive correlation in empowering female journalists. However, challenges related to gender bias and patriarchal culture are still felt, so the effectiveness of restorative communication is highly dependent on consistent implementation and an open work culture. It is concluded that restorative communication plays an important role in creating a fair work environment and providing a sense of security and support for female journalists
