Abstract

The communication management strategy of a company's leadership is the key to a company's managerial system in improving service quality. Brastagi Supermarket is one of the companies that is considered to have quite good service, this is proven by the number of consumers who shop at Brastagi supermarket from year to year increasing or being able to maintain the number of consumers every month at 140 thousand consumers. If you don't have good service quality, consumers will move and shop at other supermarkets. Therefore, the aim of the research is to find out about leadership communication management strategies in improving the quality of employee service at Brastagi Supermarket Medan. The type of research used is qualitative, using interview data collection methods, and using data analysis techniques, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the leadership communication management strategy in improving the quality of employee service at the Brastagi Supermarket in Medan has been carried out well by compiling and designing job descriptions for employees, providing guidance to have a friendly attitude, be polite, smile and be honest.

Abstract

Gender inequality is a complex and widespread issue that is consumed by modern society. The struggle to achieve gender equality has become a focus in the field of mass media. Gender is considered an attribute that is used as a basis for identifying differences between men and women from a social perspective, especially in the field of mass media. Film as a medium has a significant influence in shaping people's views about this content. One of the films that represents gender inequality is the film Vina and the film Munkar. Researchers analyze the comparative meaning of gender inequality in the films Vina and Mukar by Anggy Umbara. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used in this research is Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory which analyzes three stages of meaning, namely sign, object and interpretant. The data collection techniques used are observation and documentation related to feminism by observing, recording and analyzing indicators of feminist issues in scenes, dialogue and gestures. The data analysis technique uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach which emphasizes solving meaning in three main elements, namely sign, object and interpretant. The research results reveal that both films depict a deep perspective on how marginalization, subordination, physical violence, gender stereotypes and cultural values influence women's lives in the importance of gender awareness to achieve fairer equality

Abstract

PT. Cellular Telecommunications is a state-owned institution operating in the telecommunications sector. For this reason PT. Cellular Telecommunications continues to create programs to attract public interest in its products. To achieve success in marketing its products, of course PT. Cellular Telecommunications has prepared several marketing communication strategies before marketing its products in order to increase interest in these products. Therefore, this research aims to determine the marketing communications of PT. Cellular Telecommunications in increasing public interest in its products through advertising on Instagram social media. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach with data collection through interviews and documentation. These results indicate that PT. Cellular Telecommunications has a strategy for marketing its products through Instagram social media.

Abstract

Forest fires can be interpreted as one of the problems that is often faced by every region, including the Labuhan Batu area. Therefore, the local government and the Labuhan Batu district police created a program by forming a team of operators to stop forest and land fires. By making public service advertisement posters made by the Labuhan Batu Police and uploading them on social media such as Instagram with the aim of advertising that invites the public to start protecting and preserving the forest ecosystem in Labuhan Batu. This research aims to find out what meaning is contained in the public service advertisement poster edition of stop forest burning, as well as knowing the signs, objects, interpretants in the poster. The method used in this research is qualitative. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach and used text research techniques, namely semiotic analysis using Charles Sanders Peirce's analysis techniques on public service advertisement posters for the stop forest burning edition. Researchers use qualitative data collection techniques, namely using documentation and observation techniques. By using primary and secondary data analysis. The results of this research show that the design of the public service advertisement poster published on the Instagram of the Labuhan Batu police station can be found in accordance with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis, with the sign explaining that there is a picture of a natural disaster, namely a forest fire, which is depicted with raging fire so that part of the forest is on fire and there are also officers extinguishing the fire. The object is the flames on the public service advertisement poster which means danger and also contains an appeal that says "Stop..! Forest and land fires." The interpretant in this picture is a natural disaster of forest fires that occurs in an area which will have fatal consequences if it occurs in a forest because in the forest there are many various elements that are very flammable

Abstract

The development of technology in the digital era has changed the way of life in various aspects of life, including in patterns of interaction and daily activities. The use of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and televisions has now become an inseparable part of human life, both adults and young children. The purpose of this study was to explain family communication strategies in reducing screen time for early childhood in Bartong Village, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research method. The research concept uses research categorization from the main aspects, namely Communicator, Message, Media, Communicant, and Feedback. Data collection was carried out by conducting interviews with five informants who were members of the community or families of children exposed to screen time. The data analysis technique used was qualitative, namely with data reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the approach of speaking softly and providing direct examples was more effective than the rules for limiting screen time. Parents divert children's attention with physical and social activities to reduce dependence on screen devices. Although the strategies implemented have proven effective, evaluation and adjustment of strategies are still needed for more optimal results.

Abstract

Tourism in Indonesia continues to grow rapidly, encouraging the development of tourist villages as an effort to improve the economy and community welfare. Bartong Village, which has the potential for Bahbolon River tourism, faces the challenge of low tourism awareness and community participation in tourism management. BUMDes has an important role in increasing community motivation and participation in tourism management. This study focuses on how the communication strategy of BUMDes Bartong in increasing community motivation and participation through tourism awareness. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques for this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. This study uses the Kulvisaechana theory which consists of frequency, level of formality, message content, and channels. The location of the study was in Bartong Village, Sipispis District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. This study was conducted from November 2024 to March 2025. The results of this study indicate that the communication carried out by BUMDes Bartong in increasing community tourism awareness is quite effective and running well, but there is still room for improvement, especially in increasing the frequency and success of communication with the community. Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the tutor communication pattern through the use of the "one student one tutor" method at the SAS English Laboratory LKP and to identify its benefits for students' understanding and learning motivation. This type of research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection through observation, interviews and literature review. The research data was processed using qualitative analysis that refers to interpersonal communication theory. The results of the study showed that tutors used a combination of verbal and nonverbal communication to convey material, build closer interactions with students, and increase learning effectiveness. Factors such as communication intensity, use of learning media, and strategies to overcome communication barriers are very useful in building an active and productive learning atmosphere. This finding confirms that effective tutor communication patterns can increase students' motivation and understanding of English learning materials. Therefore, the use of more innovative communication techniques and the use of learning media are needed to support the success of the "one student one tutor" method.

Abstract

Effective communication is a key factor in achieving organizational goals, especially in occupational safety and health programs. This study aims to analyze the internal communication strategy of the K3L Bureau in improving occupational safety culture at PT PLN (Persero) UIP Sumbagut. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with the Lasswell communication model approach to understand the effectiveness of delivering occupational safety messages. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. Researchers conducted data analysis through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the K3L Bureau utilized various communication media such as Instagram, WhatsApp, posters, banners, and email to disseminate occupational safety information to employees. The combination of various communication channels and active support from management proved to be important factors in increasing awareness and compliance with occupational safety culture.

Abstract

Review the conflict, which is communication. The emergence of this dispute is related to differences in everyday life, such as differences in gender, social and economic strata, ideology, beliefs, legal systems, ethnic groups, religions, cultures, and political schools. As long as differences still exist, conflict is inevitable in social life. However, this does not mean that conflict cannot be resolved. Conflict resolution is one solution, citing Christopher E. Miller's book, A Dictionary of Terms and Concepts in Peace and Conflict Studies, as one approach; Conflict resolution is a step or process of resolving conflict through a constructive problem-solving system. In relation to this, it is necessary to understand and explain the meaning, history and characteristics. Furthermore, conflict resolution can also be interpreted as an effort to achieve the final result of a conflict through conflict resolution methods. The main goal of conflict resolution is to achieve peace. In this case, the role of the mediator will be very useful and give meaning to participation in resolving the conflict and achieving.

Abstract

Poster visualization is a form of visual communication that has an important role in conveying messages to the public, one of which is Tempo magazine, as one of the leading print media in Indonesia, often raising social and political issues through various forms of visualization, including posters. The "promises are just promises" poster is an example of a visualization that aims to criticize promises that have not been realized by the authorities. The formulation of the research problem is how to analyze the influence of the visualization of the tempo poster "A promise is just a promise" in society in Medan Helvetia sub-district. And the aim is to find out the analysis of the influence of the visualization of the tempo poster "A promise is just a promise" in society in Medan Helvetia sub-district. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Research informants were selected through a purposive sampling method to ensure appropriate representation from the perspective of the Medan Helvetia community, data collection using in-depth interview procedures. The research results showed a variety of reactions, namely some respondents stated that the posters helped clarify their understanding of political promises that were not kept, while others felt neutral or were not too affected because they lacked interest in political issues.
