Abstract

Moral decadence among children today has become a serious problem in line with the rapid development of science and technology, which has weakened the character building of the younger generation. This phenomenon is marked by an increase in deviant behavior, such as gang fights, promiscuity, and a decline in respect for parents. This condition shows a low level of understanding and practice of moral values. Therefore, solutions based on Islamic values are needed to overcome the moral crisis among children. This study aims to examine the concept of moral decadence, explore the theory of Islamic education according to M. Quraish Shihab, and analyze the relevance of Islamic education in overcoming moral decadence among children. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, with the main source being Tafsir Al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab. The results show that moral decadence is a decline related to behavior, personality, and character of individuals. Islamic education is understood as an educational process that is carried out consciously and deliberately based on Islamic law to achieve certain goals. According to M. Quraish Shihab, the main objective of Islamic education is to shape individuals so that they are able to carry out their roles as servants of Allah and caliphs on earth. Islamic education has strong relevance in overcoming moral decadence in children through instilling values of faith and gratitude, cultivating attitudes of love and respect for parents, encouraging good deeds, performing acts of worship, and forming noble character based on patience and sincerity.

Abstract

This study intends to assess the transformation of digital-oriented Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in the age of artificial intelligence at Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura High School including digital learning, impact on student interest and engagement, evaluation for IRE-digital-based learning and so forth, as well as the challenges currently faced by digital evaluation and its implications for character education and religiosity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and field research design. Data were obtained by observing the digital IRE teaching and learning process, conducting comprehensive interviews with IRE teachers, and documenting the learning media, digital platforms, and evaluation systems used at the school. The data were analyzed using descriptive interpretative techniques to understand learning practices, religious ethical considerations, and technical challenges in the application of artificial intelligence-based evaluation. The results of the study show that digital-based PAI learning through the use of Smart TVs, PowerPoint presentations, animated videos from YouTube, and creative assignments using the Canva application can encourage student interest, engagement, and participation in the learning process. However, digital-based PAI learning evaluation using the Scholar and E-Dumo applications has not consistently influenced students' academic achievement and character building due to technical limitations, system instability, and the limitations of digital platforms in assessing essay answers and the ethical dimensions of learning. This study provides empirical contributions regarding the transformation of digital-based PAI learning from a religious ethics perspective in the era of artificial intelligence and offers practical value for the development of PAI learning and evaluation that balances technological innovation with Islamic educational values.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the effectiveness and challenges of digital learning evaluation based on Scopus-indexed empirical articles, with an emphasis on the principles of quality evaluation validity, reliability, and fairness as well as its relevance to the context of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) which demands the achievement of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies. This study focuses on the analysis of how the effectiveness of digital learning evaluation is reported, the evaluation methods and instruments used, as well as the methodological and contextual challenges that affect the quality of assessment. The research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach referring to the PRISMA framework to ensure transparency and replicability of study selection. Scopus is used as a single database with inclusion criteria: open access journal articles, in English, subject areas of Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities, and presents empirical evidence related to the evaluation of digital learning or blended learning. Of the 52 articles at the identification stage, six met all the criteria and were analyzed through structured data extraction and narrative synthesis. The results showed that the effectiveness of digital learning evaluation was generally reported through quantitative indicators such as increased pre-test scores, post-tests, competency achievements, N-Gain scores, project-based performance, and comparison of results between groups. The dominant instruments include objective tests, rubric-based performance assessments, and high-reliability perception questionnaires. However, significant challenges still arise, especially related to the validity and reliability of the instruments, the heterogeneity of student characteristics, the limitations of research design, academic integrity, and the dependence of evaluation results on the context and infrastructure support. Synthesisously, digital evaluation tends to be effective in measuring the cognitive domain and some authentic performance, but risks being less representative of the affective and psychomotor domains that are crucial in PAI if it is not supported by authentic assessments and triangulation of indicators. These findings confirm that digital learning evaluation needs to be understood as a multidimensional process that integrates learning outcomes, authentic performance, and learning experiences, so that digital evaluation systems can be more valid, reliable, fair, and contextual.

Abstract

Usury is one of the fundamental issues in fiqh muamalah that has a broad impact on the economic life of individuals and society. The development of a modern economic system dominated by interest-based capitalism has made the practice of usury increasingly complex and structured, giving rise to diverse views among Islamic scholars and organizations. Hizbut Tahrir is an Islamic movement that takes a firm stance against usury, viewing it as a practice that is absolutely forbidden and an integral part of the capitalist economic system that contradicts Islamic teachings. This article aims to analyze Hizbut Tahrir's views on usury and its implications for fiqh muamalah education. This study uses a qualitative paradigm with a library research method. Primary data sources include the book Sistem Ekonomi Islam (Islamic Economic System) by Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani and Hizbut Tahrir's tsaqofah literature, while secondary data sources come from scientific journals and articles relevant to the theme of usury and fiqh muamalah education. Data collection techniques were carried out through searching, reading, and in-depth analysis of relevant texts. The results of the study show that Hizbut Tahrir views usury not only as a violation of muamalah law at the individual level, but also as a systemic problem that is the main pillar of the capitalist economy. Therefore, according to Hizbut Tahrir, the elimination of usury cannot be done partially, but requires the implementation of an Islamic economic system as a whole. This view has direct implications for fiqh muamalah education, which is directed not only at understanding transaction laws, but also at forming ideological awareness, critical attitudes towards modern economic practices, and understanding the relationship between muamalah law and the economic system. Fiqh muamalah education in the perspective of Hizbut Tahrir is positioned as an instrument for guiding individuals and society to reject usurious practices and encourage the realization of an Islamic economic system. Thus, this study confirms that Hizbut Tahrir's view of usury shapes the orientation of fiqh muamalah education to be normative, critical, and transformative.

Abstract

Modern education faces a crisis of meaning characterized by the dominance of instrumental rationality, technocratization, and the reduction of educational goals to cognitive achievement and administrative performance. This condition causes education to lose its function as a process of holistic human formation— ethically, existentially, and spiritually. This study aims to analyze the crisis of meaning in education through a philosophical dialogue between Western and Islamic traditions, examining how both understand the goals of education and the formation of the human subject. The method used is qualitative library research based on an interpretive-hermeneutic paradigm. Primary data was obtained from the works of Western thinkers Dewey, Freire, Heidegger, and Islamic thinkers Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, Al-Ghazali, Fazlur Rahman, Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, while secondary data consisted of journal articles and contemporary academic works. The results of the study show that Western education emphasizes the formation of conscious, rational, free, and responsible subjects, but has experienced a narrowing of meaning due to technocratic pressures. Meanwhile, Islamic education emphasizes the formation of adab (ta'dīb), the integration of knowledge, ethics, and a transcendental orientation that guides humans to understand the purpose of life and their existential responsibilities. A synthesis of the two traditions shows that meaningful education is achieved through a balance between intellectuality and ethicality, critical reflection, and value orientation. These findings offer a philosophical framework for reformulating the goals of modern education as a process of understanding humans holistically from an Islamic perspective.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly changed the educational landscape and presented new opportunities to strengthen students' learning independence. This article examines the integration of digital technology including Learning Management System (LMS), Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), artificial intelligence (AI), and collaborative platforms as a strategy to strengthen independent learning and self-regulation. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach based on a literature review from Scopus indexed journal articles in the period 2022–2025. The search process is carried out through Boolean queries that are relevant to the themes of technology, independence, digital education, and integration, then selected using PRISMA guidelines. Of the 146 articles identified at the initial stage, the application of inclusion criteria (empirical articles, published in journals, relevant to the topic) resulted in 8 articles that were further analyzed. The results of the synthesis show that the integration of digital technology is positively correlated with improved academic performance, motivation, and learning engagement. AI-based technologies, such as chatbots and intelligent tutoring systems, contribute through real-time feedback, adaptive learning paths, and learning personalization that strengthen students' self-regulation skills (planning, monitoring, and reflection). However, the implementation of technology still faces challenges in the form of inequality of access, infrastructure readiness, and educators' digital competence in designing learning that is in line with pedagogical goals. In addition, there is a risk of over-reliance on technology, especially AI, which has the potential to lower deep cognitive engagement and inhibit critical thinking if not accompanied by proper instructional guidance. Therefore, the integration of digital technology needs to be placed as a scaffolding that supports learning autonomy, while at the same time being balanced by strengthening digital literacy, mature instructional design, and developing educator competencies so that the benefits of digital transformation can be optimal and sustainable.
