Abstract

Epilepsy is a complex symptom of many brain dysfunction characterized by recurrent seizures due to excessive release of brain electrical charge and reversible motivation. Seizures are a result of uncontrolled electrical release from cerebral cortical nerve cells which are characterized by sudden attacks, mild disturbance of consciousness, motor activity, or sensory phenomenon disorders. Children with epilepsy will usually get impaired intelligence, language comprehension and impaired cognitive function. The impact of epilepsy on children will make a significant difference in IQ. In addition, epilepsy also has concomitant disease (developmental growth disorders) that will be suffered by the sufferer. This is what is known in the medical world as comorbidity and must be monitored by parents. The purpose of writing is that students are expected to be able to provide nursing care for children who have epilepsy. The result of this scientific paper is that students get an overview of nursing care in children with epilepsy. Emerging nursing problems in children with epilepsy include ineffective airway clearance, risk of injury, risk of fluid volume deficit, hypertermia, imbalance of nutrients less than body requirements, risk of infection, lack of family knowledge, and anxiety for children and parents.

Abstract

Patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus are at risk for complications including acute complications and chronic complications. It is estimated that diabetes is the leading cause of death worldwide with a global prevalence of 552 million. To prevent the occurrence of complications above, it is necessary to control diabetes through the implementation of correct and regular self management behavior every day. The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between the level of education and knowledge with the behavior of self-management of patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The study design used was cross sectional, with a sample of 112 respondents. Measuring instruments used are Diabetes Knowledge (DKN) Scale and Summary Diabetes Self Care Activity (SDSCA). The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge and self-management behavior (p value <0.001), so it can be concluded that self management behavior increases if patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus have good knowledge of DM self-management.

Abstract

Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a decrease in irreversible kidney function characterized by uremia which affects patients' biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects. This change certainly requires good adaptation of CRF patients. Nurses can help patients adapt to changes in their level of health. The role of nurses is needed in the provision of nursing care using Roy's adaptation theory approach which is applied in the case of Mr. F, 32 years old with CRF, diabetes mellitus, diabetic retinopathy. The purpose of writing this case is to gain real experience in providing nursing care to CRF patients using Roy's adaptation theory approach. Nursing diagnoses that appear in cases of excess fluid volume are associated with decreased kidney function, fluid and sodium retention; decreased cardiac output is associated with increased cardiac workload; nutritional imbalances less than body requirements related to insufficient insulin; constipation is associated with a decrease in physical activity. The results achieved after carrying out nursing care with Roy's adaptation theory approach are edema has diminished, excess fluid volume is partially overcome; decreased cardiac output has not been resolved; blood sugar is still unstable with the help of insulin, partial deficit nutrition; partial constipation. Conclusion: Nursing care with a theory approach Roy's adaptation model is quite effective to be applied to patients with urinary system disorders, especially in cases of chronic renal failure where patients must adapt to changes that occur both biologically, psychologically, socially and culturally.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by increased glucose levels in the blood due to defect in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2016, diabetes mellitus is among the top 10 causes of death in the world. Clinical manifestations of Diabetes mellitus according to Black and Hawks (2014), have three characteristics, namely: polyuria, polyphagia, polydipsy, with complications that can occur in the form of microvascular and macrovascular complications. The purpose of this paper is to get real experience in providing nursing care to Diabetes Mellitus patients. The method used in writing scientific papers is descriptive method. The results of nursing care obtained are: for clinical manifestations, which are found in cases are polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, decreased BB, weak and tired. Of the seven nursing diagnoses in theory, there are two nursing diagnoses that appear in cases where the risk of nutritional changes is less than the body's needs related to insulin deficiency, nausea; Fatigue is associated with decreased metabolic energy production. At the implementation stage of nursing, of the five nursing diagnoses in this case, everything has been done so that there are no gaps. At the nursing evaluation stage, of the five nursing diagnoses in this case, there is one nursing diagnosis that can be overcome, namely excess fluid volume is associated with decreased kidney function, water retention.

Abstract

The biggest demand experienced by adolescents is related to his success in the academic field. The success of adolescents in overcoming difficulties related to demands from inside and outside is greatly influenced by adolescent personal maturity. Adolescents who live in families that are able to meet biological, psychological, and social needs will grow and develop healthily, can actualize the potential they have and can learn in solving problems and the tasks they face, including tasks related to academics. The design in this research is descriptive analytic design with cross sectional research approach. The sampling method used in this study was to use purposive sampling, a sample of 98 person mothers. This study uses a chi-square test with an alpha value <0.05. The results found that the P Value value of 0.47 is greater than 0.05 so that the results of this study have no relationship between the level of mother's knowledge of adolescents on academic achievement. Recommendations for further research on the factors of adolescent success in academic achievement.
