Abstract

The phenomenon of low numerical ability and persistent obstacles to student learning outcomes. The objectives of this study are: (1) To determine the influence of the level of numerical ability of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta, (2) To determine the influence of the magnitude of the mathematics learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta, and (3) To find the influence of numerical ability on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta. This type of research is quantitative correlational. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade students, whose numerical ability and mathematics learning outcomes were the objects of this research. Data collection methods used were a numerical ability test and a mathematics learning outcome test on the topic of social arithmetic. The research instruments used were essay-style numerical ability worksheets and multiple-choice social arithmetic worksheets. Data analysis methods used prerequisite tests (linearity test, normality test, and homogeneity test) and simple linear regression analysis.This study yielded the following findings: (1) The overall level of numerical ability of students in class VIII D of SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta is in the moderate category, (2) The level of mathematics learning outcomes for the topic of arithmetic of students in class VII D of SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta is in the moderate category, and (3) There is a positive and significant influence between numerical ability and students' mathematics learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the correlation coefficient value of 0.845 and the coefficient of determination (R square) which shows that numerical ability contributes 71.4% to students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Education serves as a fundamental pillar in national development, as it not only enhances individual capacities but also improves overall social welfare. Despite this crucial role, Indonesia continues to face disparities in both access to and quality of education among its regions, as can be seen from variations in school participation indicators and socio-economic backgrounds. To analyze these differences, this study applied the K-Means Clustering method to categorize provinces in Indonesia using six variables: School Participation Rate, Net Enrollment Rate, Gross Enrollment Rate, Poverty Rate, High School Ratio, and Teacher Ratio. To identify the most suitable number of clusters, three validation indices were utilized, namely Dunn Index, C-Index, and Davies-Bouldin Index, with cluster counts tested from three to six. The results indicated that the best clustering solution was five clusters, as reflected in the highest Dunn Index (0.1569), lowest C-Index (0.0321), and lowest Davies-Bouldin Index (0.5062). The robustness of this clustering was further supported by the ratio between within-cluster and between-cluster standard deviation (S(w)/S(b) = 0.33). Each cluster revealed unique characteristics of education and socio-economic conditions, where Cluster 4 displayed the most favorable outcomes with high participation and low poverty levels, whereas Cluster 5 highlighted the weakest performance across all observed indicators.

Abstract

This research was conducted on fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 01 Dagen Karanganyar with the aim of identifying the improvement of critical thinking skills in IPAS learning by applying the Cooperative Learning Model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study involved 25 students, consisting of 16 male students and 9 female students. This research belongs to quantitative research with a One-Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design. The research procedure began with administering a tryout test to determine the number of valid items to be used. The validity test results showed that 20 items met the validity criteria during the tryout. Data analysis was conducted using the One-Sample Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and the Paired Sample T-Test for hypothesis testing. Based on the analysis, the results showed a significance value of < 0.000 with a significance probability of < 0.05. Therefore, the findings are consistent with the hypothesis, namely: “There is an effect of using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Learning Model in IPAS learning on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 01 Dagen Karanganyar in the 2024/2025 academic year.” This indicates that the TGT model can enhance students’ ability to think critically, helping them develop essential skills in problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making, which are crucial for their academic success and future learning processes.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are strategic sectors in the Indonesian economy, but often face challenges in efficient and data-driven production management. This article highlights the urgency of the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program as a form of student service in assisting MSMEs, especially in optimizing the production of snacks typical of Tebing Syahbandar. This research aims to optimize the production output of the Untir-untir Titik Factory with an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) approach using the Branch and Bound algorithm. Primary data is obtained through interviews and production documentation, including product type, raw material needs, operational costs, selling prices, and profit margins. The initial analysis was carried out using the simplex method using POM QM software to obtain a linear solution, which was then refined with the Branch and Bound algorithm so that the results were in the form of integers. The results of the study showed that the optimal solution was achieved by producing 25 bales of kolong-kounder and not producing other types of snacks, resulting in a profit of Rp1,650,000 per day. These findings show that the ILP approach with Branch and Bound is able to significantly increase the efficiency and profitability of MSMEs. In addition, this method can be used as a basis for quantitative-based production decision-making. This research also emphasizes the strategic role of KKN in technology transfer and real solution-based assistance for MSME actors in the region, thereby supporting the sustainable strengthening of the local economy.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the compound interest concept in evaluating capital growth among vegetable vendors at the MMTC Traditional Market in Medan, North Sumatra. The research highlights the low level of financial literacy among micro-entrepreneurs in Indonesia, which currently stands at only 38.03%, and its implications for business sustainability. Traditional market traders generally employ basic bookkeeping practices focused solely on daily cash flow, without considering the time value of money or the growth potential from systematic profit reinvestment. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study combines semi-structured interviews to explore existing financial management practices with quantitative modeling based on the discrete compound interest formula to simulate various capital growth scenarios. The analysis reveals that disciplined reinvestment strategies, even when initiated with modest capital and conservative growth rates, can lead to substantial capital accumulation within three to five years. Three primary barriers to capital growth were identified: limited understanding of financial mathematics, lack of long-term planning, and a tendency to prioritize immediate consumption over investment. This research underscores the transformative potential of compound interest principles for micro-enterprise development and recommends practical financial literacy training along with supportive financial ecosystems that encourage sustainable reinvestment practices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of amortization schedules and the repayment fund approach in Public Housing Credit. By applying quantitative descriptive methods and a case study approach, this study simulates a mortgage with a credit ceiling of Rp163,800,000, a tenor of 15 years, and an interest rate of 5.65% for the first to fifth year and 13% for the sixth to fifteenth year. The results of the simulation show that without any additional strategies, the total interest to be paid reaches Rp138,887,134.14, which is almost equivalent to the total principal loan. However, by using a sinking fund strategy through regular savings of Rp1,000,000 every month (with an interest rate of 0.25% per month) for 5 years, the collected funds are Rp64,444,800 which significantly reduces the remaining principal loan. As a result, the total interest is reduced to Rp87,864,324.85, which means there is a savings of Rp51. 022. 809.29. Furthermore, this strategy has the potential to shorten repayment time. In conclusion, sinking funds are an effective approach to reducing interest burden and accelerating the repayment of Public Housing Loans.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the results of student living cost estimates over a four-year study period using two approaches in financial mathematics, namely the discrete model and the continuous model. The background of the study is based on the need for students to manage their personal finances effectively amidst rising living costs due to inflation. The discrete model is used to predict expenses at certain time intervals, while the continuous model assumes that changes in the value of money occur continuously at all times. This study uses a quantitative descriptive-comparative method with controlled simulations on 100 student data with variations in monthly living costs between Rp2,000,000–Rp4,000,000 and a random inflation rate of 0%–20%. The data were analyzed using discrete and continuous growth formulas, then a Paired Sample t-Test was performed to determine significant differences between the two models. The results show that both models produce very similar living cost estimates with an average difference of only about 1–3% of the total four-year costs. The continuous model produces slightly higher results than the discrete model due to its exponential and continuous nature of calculations. However, the statistical test results showed a p-value > 0.05, indicating no statistically significant difference between the two. Practically, both approaches can be used equally in student financial planning, with the discrete model being more appropriate for short-term projections and the continuous model being more appropriate for long-term projections.

Abstract

Using Newman's Error Analysis (NEA) as a framework, this study will examine the many ways in which MAN 3 Medan students blunder while answering problems involving logarithms and exponentials. A total of thirty-one MIPA class X students served as subjects for this qualitative descriptive study. Essay tests, interviews with math instructors, and records of student work all contributed to the data set. Data analysis involves reducing, presenting, and making conclusions while triangulating sources to ensure the data is legitimate. According to the research, the two most common points of mistake are when people are trying to grasp the issue and when they are trying to convert it. This is because pupils have a hard time grasping the characteristics and fundamental ideas of logarithms and have a habit of rote memorization rather than critical thinking. Other factors that also affect include the lack of utilization of learning media and low student learning motivation. After being given discussion-based learning and interactive media, the post-test results showed an increase in comprehension and a decrease in conceptual errors. This research recommends that teachers should emphasize student-centered learning by strengthening basic concepts and implementing contextual problem-solving strategies.
