It focuses mainly on the related issues to Quran and Hadits, Islamic philosophy and thoughts, culture and social studies, Islamic history studies, and dakwah and communications studies. JURNAL FUADUNA: Jurnal Kajian Keagamaan dan Kemasyarakat published at first Vol. 1, No. 1, 2017 biannually in in June and December. Reviewers will review any submitted paper. Review process employs a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the employment of a reflective-intuitive reading of the Al Fatihah chapter as a therapy to decrease stress levels in patients with autoimmune. Conducting experimental research, the research design of this study is a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group and the participant recruited are female Muslims suffering from one of the autoimmune diseases. In this research, to measure stress levels, this study adapts a stress subtest of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) in which the Indonesian language is used to administer the scale. The therapy itself adopts Maulana, Subandi, and Asturi’s (2016) module of a reflective-intuitive reading of the Al Fatihah chapter. The data are analyzed through the Mann-Whitney U-Test in order to figure out the differences of the levels of stress in the experimental group before and after the intervention given and afterward to compare it to the control group. This study reveals the meaning process in the reflective-intuitive reading of the Al Fatihah for a particular time could decrease the levels of stress of patients with an autoimmune disease.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran terapi membaca Al Fatihah reflektif-intuitif dalam penurunan tingkat stres pada pasien autoimun. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi dengan desain non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah perempuan yang beragama Islam dan menderita salah satu penyakit autoimun. Dalam penelitian ini tingkat stres subjek diukur menggunakan Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) subtes stres yang sudah diadaptasi ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Pelaksanaan terapi mengacu pada modul membaca Al Fatihah reflektif-intuitif yang dikembangkan peneliti dan tim dengan merujuk pada modul Maulana, Subandi, dan Asturi. Analisis data menggunakan uji Mann Whitney U-Test untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat stres pada kelompok perlakuan di saat sebelum dan sesudah intervensi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terapi membaca Al Fatihah reflektif-intuitif dapat menurunkan tingkat stres pada pasien autoimun setelah melewati proses pemaknaan yang menghabiskan waktu tertentu.

Abstract

Islamization in Mentawai islands is amidst the majority of non-Muslim Protestant Christians and Catholic Christians. Not to mention the local beliefs held by the Mentawai people who are against Islam. The characteristics of the localities of the Mentawai people who are friendly, kind, and highly appreciative of guests are one of the reasons for Islamization in Mentawai. This research is a research library with a qualitative analysis approach—the data collection work through observation and interviews with preachers concerned with Islamization in the Mentawai. Data analysis techniques use data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman, data reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The process of accepting Islam in Mentawai was peaceful, but due to a lack of guidance, the Mentawai people became apostates again. The Mentawai people convert to Islam by negotiating, such as education, marriage, self-sufficiency, and poverty. Some Mentawi people have started to study tauhid, and many Muslim women have veiled a lot. However, there are still some who choose pigs, done in secret. The government urgently needs to pay attention to Islamization in the Mentawai. Islamisasi di Mentawai terjadi di tengah-tengah mayoritas nonmuslim, dimana lebih dominan masyarakat beragama Kristen Protestan dan Kristen Katolik. Belum lagi kepercayaan lokal yang dianut oleh masyarakat Mentawai yang bertentang dengan agama Islam. Karakteristik lokalitas masyarakat Mentawai yang ramah, baik dan sangat menghargai tamu menjadi salah satu alasan terjadinya Islamisasi di Mentawai. Penelitian ini merupakan kualitatif analisis. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan pendakwah yang peduli dengan Islamisasi di Mentawai. Untuk teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data Miles dan Huberman, yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses Islamisasi yang terjadi di Mentawai berjalan damai, tetapi karena kurangnya pembinaan masyarakat Mentawai kembali menjadi murtad. Masyarakat Mentawai masuk Islam dengan melakukan negosiasi, seperti pendidikan, perkawinan, adanya kesadaran diri sendiri dan karena faktor kemiskinan. Sebagian masyarakat Mentawai sudah mulai belajar tauhid dan perempuan Muslim telah banyak berjilbab. Walaupun masih ada yang memelihara babi, tapi dilakukan secara sembunyi-sembunyi. Sangat diperlukan kepedulian dari pemerintah untuk memperhatikan Islamisasi di Mentawai.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the development of Islamic religious movements in the Malay traditional land of Kerinci Jambi, particularly related to the tendency of religious formalism in Islamic communities. The pattern of education, local customs and traditions, as well as religious ideology contributed to the emergence of a Muslim community that only paid attention to the formal side of religion or known as formalist Islam. This study uses an anthropological approach through interviews, observations, and documentation of Muslim communities in Kerinci Jambi. This paper finds that formalist Islam tends to be difficult to develop in Malay society exclusively from indigenous groups, and more easily accepted for inclusive societies from immigrant groups or mixing with outsiders and academics. This exclusive Malay community seeks to maintain the Islamic ideology that has been institutionalized in the structure of society that does not contradict between custom and religion since the first, namely Islam with the nuances of Sufism, based on the Shafi'i Madhhab in fiqh, and al-Ghazali Madhhab in theology. Meanwhile, inclusive societies tend to be open to accepting various Islamic identities and most of them do not hold strong traditional values. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan gerakan keagamaan Islam di tanah adat Melayu Kerinci Jambi, khususnya terkait kecenderungan formalisme keberagamaan komunitas-komunitas Islam. Pola pendidikan, adat dan tradisi lokal, serta ideologi keagamaan memberi kontribusi bagi kemunculan komunitas Muslim yang hanya memperhatikan sisi formal agama saja atau dikenal dengan Islam formalis. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan antropologis melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap komunitas-komunitas Muslim yang terdapat di Kerinci Jambi. Tulisan ini menemukan bahwa Islam formalis cenderung sulit berkembang dalam masyarakat Melayu eksklusif dari golongan masyarakat pribumi, dan lebih mudah diterima bagi masyarakat inklusif dari golongan pendatang atau percampuran dengan masyarakat luar dan para akademisi. Masyarakat Melayu eksklusif ini berupaya mempertahankan ideologi Islam yang telah melembaga dalam struktur masyarakat yang tidak mempertentangkan antara adat dan agama semenjak dahulu yakni Islam dengan nuansa tasawuf, bermazhab Syafi’i dalam fikih, dan bermazhab al-Ghazali dalam teologi. Sedangkan masyarakat inklusif cenderung terbuka menerima beragam identitas Islam dan mereka sebagian besar tidak memegang nilai adat secara kuat.

Abstract

This article examines Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak (1879-1975) and elaborates on the characteristics of thematic hadith studies in his book, Himpoenan Hadith Book (1938). The book is one of the classic books of hadith in Arabic-Malay, which became the guideline in several Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah in West Sumatra. Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak is a West Sumatran cleric active in da'wah and education activities. The background of writing this book is to fulfil the request of the leaders of Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah in the West Pasaman environment to overcome the rampant debate in the community related to qunūt. This article uses a qualitative literature study method on the works of Syekh Tuanku Sasak and is supported by in-depth interviews with the descendants of Syekh Tuanku Yusuf in 2019. This research shows that Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak thematically describes the understanding of the hadith about qunūt by collecting all the traditions that allow and forbid qunūt, conduct criticism of sanad and matan, and use the "tarjih" method in dealing with conflicting rules. Artikel ini mengkaji Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak (1879-1975) dan mengelaborasi ciri-ciri kajian hadis tematik dalam bukunya Himpoenan Hadist Book (1938). Kitab tersebut merupakan salah satu kitab hadis klasik berbahasa Arab-Melayu yang menjadi pedoman di beberapa Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah di Sumatera Barat. Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak adalah seorang ulama Sumatera Barat yang aktif dalam kegiatan dakwah dan pendidikan. Latar belakang penulisan buku ini adalah untuk memenuhi permintaan para pimpinan Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah di lingkungan Pasaman Barat untuk mengatasi maraknya perdebatan di masyarakat terkait qunūt. Artikel ini menggunakan metode studi literatur kualitatif atas karya-karya Syekh Tuanku Sasak dan didukung dengan wawancara mendalam dengan keturunan Syekh Tuanku Yusuf pada tahun 2019. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Syekh Yunus Tuanku Sasak secara tematik menggambarkan pemahaman hadis tentang qunūt dengan mengumpulkan semua hadis yang membolehkan dan mengharamkan qunūt, melakukan kritik sanad dan matan, serta menggunakan metode “tarjih” dalam menghadapi aturan-aturan yang saling bertentangan.

Abstract

This article analyzes the cosmological model of the divinity of Ibn al-‘Arabi based on relations between mystical and logic. This research is a literature review with a descriptive analytics method. In this case, it reveals and describes as it is Ibn al-‘Arabi’s cosmological model of the divine, then analyzed and interpreted to obtain the proper data. This research finds that Ibn al-‘Arabi’s cosmological model of divine relevant to the times and is a thought that brings humans to the ‘presence’ of God. Ibn al-‘Arabi’s cosmological model of the divine is not only transcendental theological but also mysticism in character. This study is important since it reveals much deeper about the cosmological model of the divinity of Ibn al-‘Arabi. Although research on Ibn al-‘Arabi has been widely carried out including on Ibn al-‘Arabi’s divine cosmology, however, re-examining the model contained in Ibn al-‘Arabi’s divine cosmology has the potential to rediscover new reinterpretations, so that this research can be used as a foundation in the study of Islamic thought. Artikel ini menganalisis tentang model kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi yang berpijak pada jalinan antara mistis dan nalar. Penelitian ini adalah kajian kepustakaan, dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Dalam hal ini mengungkapkan dan menggambarkan secara apa adanya tentang model kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi, selanjutnya dianalisis dan dilakukan interpretasi sehingga ditemukan data yang diinginkan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa model kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi masih dan sangat relevan dengan zaman serta merupakan pemikiran yang membawa manusia akan ‘kehadiran’ Tuhan. Sebab model kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi tidak hanya bersifat teologis transendental semata, melainkan juga bercorak tasawuf. Penelitian ini penting karena menguak tentang model kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi secara mendalam. Walaupun penelitian tentang Ibn al-‘Arabi telah banyak dilakukan termasuk tentang kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi, namun meneliti kembali model yang terkandung dalam kosmologi ketuhanan Ibn al-‘Arabi berpotensi menemukan kembali reinterpretasi baru, sehingga penelitian ini dapat dijadikan landasan dalam kajian pemikiran Islam.

Abstract

This article analyzes why religions other than Islam can enter and develop in Bukittinggi, a small city in the middle of the highlands of West Sumatra, primarily through the influence of colonialism. In Bukittinggi, at first, the Dutch colonial did not see Muslims as opponents. However, then the Dutch colonial political tendencies took a way to destroy any resistance from the local community by destroying the ulama and Muslims' forces and by developing non-Islamic religions as a rival. This article is using a historical approach. This article explores colonial penetration into Bukittinggi, how religious livelihood in Bukittingi before the colonialism, how people in Bukittinggi respond to a religion other than Islam, and how tolerance and religious harmony in Bukittinggi. The results showed that other than aiming for power, the Dutch colonial carried out the spread of Christianity, especially to association groups, as a means of strengthening power. Colonialist policies towards religions contradicted various principles, especially in education. They were starting from restrictions on religious teachers to the content of lessons, teaching permits, and the number of religious education institutions. The thick religion of Islam in Bukittinggi made it difficult for the Dutch colonialists to conquer Bukittinggi.Artikel ini menganalisis alasan kenapa agama-agama selain Islam dapat masuk dan berkembang di Kota Bukittinggi, terutama melalui pengaruh kolonialisme. Pada konteks Kota Bukittinggi, pada awalnya kolonialis Belanda tidak melihat umat Islam sebagai lawan. Namun kemudian kecenderungan politik kolonialis Belanda menempuh cara menghancurkan setiap perlawanan masyarakat lokal dengan menghancurkan kekuatan-kekuatan ulama dan umat Islam, serta dengan mengembangkan agama non Islam sebagai tandingan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan historis, artikel ini mengeksplor bagaimana proses masuknya kolonialisme ke Bukittinggi; bagaimana agama masyarakat Bukittinggi sebelum masuknya kolonialisme; bagaimana respon masyarakat Bukittinggi terhadap masuknya agama-agama selain Islam; serta bagaimana toleransi dan kerukunan umat beragama di Bukittinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di samping tujuan kekuasaan, kolonialis Belanda melakukan penyebaran agama Kristen, terutama kepada kelompok-kelompok asosiasi, sebagai alat mengokohkan kekuasaan. Kebijakan kolonialis terhadap agama-agama, justru bertolak belakang dengan beragam prinsip, khususnya dalam pendidikan. Mulai dari pembatasan guru agama hingga isi pelajaran, izin mengajar, dan jumlah lembaga pendidikan agama. Kentalnya agama Islam di Bukittinggi menjadikan kolonialis Belanda kesulitan dalam menaklukkan Bukittinggi.

Abstract

The discourse of Sufism in contemporary period has been widely practiced. Even so, Sufism which is understood by Muslims there is disorientation in understanding it, especially as a result of the influence of Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun. With a theological-rationalist approach, both have criticized and reconstructed Sufism teachings at a level that is acceptable to Muslims. Both also explain the meaning of Sufism as far as they can reach. This article examines the comparative discourse on the concept of Sufism between Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun. This research is library research using descriptive-analytical and comparative methods. Their thoughts on Sufism were dissected in depth which was then compared to find common ground for similarities and differences. The Sufism paradigm put forward by Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun provides an overview at the theoretical and practical levels that can be explained rationally. That way Muslims are not polarized in understanding Sufism which seems to love the afterlife and leave the world. Finally, this research shows that Sufism can be practiced by Muslims in their respective capacities.  Wacana tasawuf pada masa kontemporer saat ini telah marak dilakukan. Meskipun begitu tasawuf yang dipahami oleh umat Islam terdapat disorientasi dalam memahaminya, terutama akibat dari pengaruh Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun. Dengan pendekatan teologis-rasionalis keduanya telah melakukan kritik dan rekonstruksi ajaran tasawuf dalam tataran yang dapat diterima oleh umat Islam. Keduanya juga menjelaskan makna tasawuf sejauh yang dapat mereka jangkau. Artikel ini mengkaji diskursus perbandingan konsep tasawuf antara Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun. Penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka (library research) dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis dan komparasi. Pemikiran keduanya atas tasawuf dibedah secara dalam yang kemudian dikomparasikan guna menemukan titik temu persamaan dan perbedaannya. Paradigma tasawuf yang dikemukakan oleh Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun memberikan gambaran dalam tataran teoritis dan praktis yang dapat dijelaskan secara rasional. Dengan begitu umat Islam tidak terpolarisasi dalam memahami tasawuf yang terkesan cinta akhirat dan meninggalkan dunia. Akhirnya penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tasawuf pada dasarnya dapat dipraktikkan oleh umat Islam dalam kapasitasnya masing-masing.

Abstract

This study examines the resistance behavior of conservative Islamic organizations to regional tourism development in Madura, especially entertainment-based tourism. There are three research questions in this study: how is the reality of conservative Islamic organizations in Madura to the religious dynamics of the local community? How is the existence of conservative Islamic organizations to the dynamics of tourism development in Madura? How is the resistance of conservative Islamic organizations towards tourism development in Madura? Qualitative data were collected through observation, interview, and literatures study. The findings show: First, the conservativism values of Islamic organizations in Madura were born and spread widely from local traditions and religions; Second, the tradition of conservatism of Islamic organizations in Madura seen in several Islamic organizations, mainly right-wing Islamic organizations such as AUMA, FKM, and GUIP; Third, the conservatism of Islamic organizations in Madura is related to their resistant behavior towards tourism development in Madura, which reflect in their thinking and religious paradigms which tend to be traditionalist, puritanical, and reactionary. They use anarchism approaches that lead to violence, for instance burning the Bukit Bintang tourist site in Pamekasan Regency. Studi ini mengkaji perilaku resisten Ormas Islam konservatif terhadap pembangunan pariwisata daerah di Madura, khususnya pariwisata berbasis hiburan. Terdapat tiga pertanyaan penelitian pada studi ini: bagaimana realitas Ormas Islam konservatif di Madura dalam dinamika keagamaan masyarakat setempat? Bagaimana eksistensi Ormas Islam konservatif dalam dinamika pembangunan pariwisata di Madura? Bagaimana resistensi Ormas Islam konservatif terhadap pembangunan pariwisata di Madura? Kualitatif data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan. Temuan studi ini menunjukan: Pertama, nilai-nilai konservatisme Ormas Islam di Madura lahir dan menyebar luas dari tradisi dan keagamaan lokal; Kedua, tradisi konservatisme Ormas Islam di Madura dapat ditemukan di sejumlah Ormas Islam, terutama Ormas Islam yang secara ideologi berhaluan kanan seperti AUMA, FKM, dan GUIP; Ketiga, konservatisme Ormas Islam di Madura terkait perilaku resisten mereka terhadap pembangunan pariwisata di Madura, tergambar pada paradigma berpikir dan keagamaan mereka yang cenderung tradisionalis, puritan, dan reaksioner. Mereka menggunakan pendekatan anarkisme sehingga berujung pada tindak kekerasan seperti pada kasus pembakaran lokasi wisata Bukit Bintang di Kabupaten Pamekasan.
