Abstract

This study aims to examine in a simple way when talking about Réne Girard's mimetic desire to be connected with narratives of sacrifice that are synonymous with violence, especially—besides speaking in other scientific disciplines—theology in the narratives of the Judeo-Christian scripture tradition. This research uses qualitative research methods with literature study. Literature study by looking at the interplay of philosophy and theology through the lens of Réne Girard. The results of the research show that there is a rationalization/perpetuation of violence through narration to practice, both within the state, the church and in the holy texts themselves. Through the light of the mimetic desire in the narrative of Yusuf and his brothers and the narrative of King Solomon and his two wives who claim children born from their respective wombs, it shows that 2 of the many texts which are patterned on characterizing violence are identical to these praxis-narratives.

Abstract

About the record of Zhenshan鎮山 has a long history, and it has gone through the establishment from a general high mountain to the layout of Twelve Zhenshan, Nine Zhenshan, Four Zhenshan, to the final establishment of the pattern of the Five Great Zhenshan. In this process, the Zhenshan Sacrifice have also been gradually developed and improved. Placing Zhenshan Sacrifice in patriarchal traditional religion can further clarify the attribution of Zhenshan Sacrifice and their position within it, which is specifically reflected in the imperial enfeoffment of Zhenshan and the activities of sending officials to offer sacrifice throughout the ages. At the same time, Buddhism and Taoism also have rich expressions and interactions with Zhenshan Sacrifice in Patriarchal Traditional Religion.

Abstract

The practice of homosexuality in several nations has been the subject of intense controversy recently. In addition to eroding the sense of identity of individuals who practice it, homosexuality—also known as same-sex relationships or marriage—has also been condemned for undermining the order of creation and endangering the survival of many societies. This paper examines homosexuality as an act and its consequent implications for the community in which the actor belongs. The paper employs the method of critical analysis; hence, using Kantian ethics, the utilitarian view, situation ethics, sexual ethics, and Christian ethics to look at the issue of homosexuality; and also, the natural law theory of morality, which states that since what is natural is morally right and what is unnatural is morally wrong, homosexuality as an act is unnatural, hence it is morally wrong. To conclude, we are of the opinion that an unauthentic lifestyle has detrimental consequences for society in general and the individual in particular

Abstract

The existence of the development of Hermeneutics was widely applied by 20th century theologians to apply their thoughts, especially in responding to the existence of myths in the Bible gospels. This shows that it is difficult for post-modern humans to accept the myths contained in the Bible gospels at that time because they are supernatural and irrational. The purpose of this writing is to describe the development of Demythologised Hermeneutics and the resulting influence at this time on Christian values. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, the data used through literature review with an approach that is in accordance with Rudolf Bultmann's thoughts. Based on the results of Rudolf Bultmann's Demythologizing research centered on the existence of myths, kerygma, as well as historical Jesus and Christ the Faith, and the resulting influences tend to be negative

Abstract

The exploration of environmental virtues within religious teachings has gained significant attention in recent years, as scholars in the field of religious environmentalism seek to apply the framework of environmental virtue ethics to religious contexts. This paper focuses on Islam and proposes that responsibility is a fundamental environmental virtue within this tradition. By employing a qualitative analysis method, the paper examines scriptural and scholarly resources within Islam to provide a comprehensive understanding of this virtue. The argument posits that responsibility is considered an environmental virtue due to its essential role in guiding Muslims' attitudes and behaviors towards God, themselves, society, and the natural world. It emphasizes that the concept of responsibility in Islam can only be fully comprehended within the broader Islamic worldview, which acknowledges God as the ultimate source and owner of all things and recognizes the pivotal role of human beings in God's divine plan. This research not only contributes to the broader discourse on religious environmental virtue ethics but also specifically advances the development of an Islamic environmental virtue ethics framework.

Abstract

The Great River Culture, deeply embedded in the fabric of Chinese history, symbolizes the enduring legacy of the Yellow River and its influence on the cultural and spiritual development of the Chinese nation. Understanding the concept of ‘great’ within this cultural context is vital for appreciating its profound impact. In Chuang-tzu’s ‘Autumn Floods,’ the exploration of the relative nature of ‘small’ and ‘great’ provides an invaluable perspective for this understanding. This paper uses the method of literature analysis to delve into the philosophical content expressed by Chuang-tzu in the seven questions and answers between the Deity of the Yellow  River and the Deity of the Northern Sea. Chuang-tzu elucidates that understanding the ‘small’ is necessary to discuss the great, the distinction between ‘small’ and ‘great’ is not constant, and the separation between the Dao and objects, along with the concept of reverting to the true essence. Hence, the ‘small’ and the ‘great’ are interdependent, with no fixed division between them. Discussing the ‘great’ only in the tangible and limited sense of ‘seeing things as objects’ is far from sufficient. The higher level of the intangible and infinite Dao represents the true essence of the concept of ‘great’ in river culture.
