Abstract

Jeruju is a genus of Acanthus which is divided into two types, namely white jeruju and black jeruju. These two types of plants are found naturally growing wild in areas with wetlands around downstream and river mouths, along the coast, and swamps, especially in Bali as mangrove vegetation. Both jeruju plants have the ability as environmental phytotechnology. Therefore, it is necessary to study the environmental habitat of the black and white jeruju plants. This study aims to determine the habitat of black and white jeruju plants which can be used as a basis data for conservation efforts. The research method was carried out by observing the biotic and abiotic environment in the black and white jeruju habitats. The results showed that black jeruju plants grow in swamp habitats, clay soil structures with a pH value of 6 and some mangrove plants as the surrounding vegetation. However, the white jeruju grows in coastal habitats, sandy loam soil structures with a pH value of 5 and no vegetation around it.

Abstract

The most important role for companies to provide compensation to their employees is measured through the performance given by employees along with the motivation they get. One company that applies a motivational process before and after employees do work is PT Satu Satu Coffee Company. The purpose of applying the motivational process before and after employees do work is for employees to improve performance in carrying out optimal tasks. The purpose of this research is to find out how compensation influences the motivation and performance of employees of PT Satu Satu Coffee Company. The population of this study were all employees of PT Satu Satu Coffee Company, totaling 32 people. The number of samples in this study were 32 respondents, using a saturated sampling method (census). Retrieval of data by interviews, documentation and questionnaires where factors are measured by giving a score of 1-5. Data analysis is modeled into the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) model using a tool in the form of smartPLS.3.0 software. The results showed that employee motivation and performance had a positive and significant effect on employee compensation. The indicator that best reflects compensation is insurance, while the indicator that reflects the least is bonuses. The indicators that best reflect work motivation are physiological needs and social needs, while the weakest indicator in reflecting is the need for self esteem. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, the conclusions that can be put forward in this study are that compensation has a positive and significant effect on the motivation of employees of PT Satu Satu Coffee Company and compensation has a positive and significant effect on the performance of employees of PT Satu Satu Coffee Company. Suggestions that can be given to PT Satu Satu Coffee Company, the company provides bonuses regularly and in accordance with the achievements or achievements of these employees. Companies can also provide opportunities for teamwork so that social needs indicators as indicators that best reflect work motivation factors continue to increase.

Abstract

The increase in population and tourism in Kuta, North Kuta and Denpasar City has led to an increase in the need for land which in turn will lead to changes in land use. This triggers a change in land use from agricultural land to non-agricultural land. This study aims to analyze changes in land use in Kuta, North Kuta and Denpasar City from 2000 to 2020. Land use is classified into 7 types of land use with a guided classification technique. The data used is in the form of spatial data from Landsat 7 imagery in 2000 and Landsat 8 imagery in 2010 and 2020. The research was conducted in November 2022-January 2023 in Denpasar City. Based on the results of the study, it showed that there were changes in land use in 2000-2020, such as a decrease in the area of paddy fields by 4,334.01 ha (56.7%) and an increase in the area of settlements by 5,043.51 ha (69.3%).

Abstract

The declining amount of carbon stock occurs due to the reduction of aboveground biomass, the increase in population, and the development of urban development. This study aims to analyze changes in the spatial distribution of vegetation index, carbon stock distribution, and biomass carbon stock every 5 years from 2002 to 2022 in Kuta, North Kuta, and Denpasar areas. The method used in this research is Image processing with Partial least square (PLS) model and random forest (RF). The data used in the study include Landsat images with recording in 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2022. The results of this study show that Kuta and Denpasar areas have different values and patterns of spectral index changes every 5 years for the vegetation index used. The area of change in the spatial distribution of carbon stocks increased every 5 years from vegetated to non-vegetated areas. The biomass carbon stock decreased over 20 years from very low, low, medium and high categories to non-vegetated. This condition occurs due to the development of built-up land in the tourism area of Kuta, North Kuta, and residential areas in Denpasar City.

Abstract

In urban environments, the land cover composition plays a crucial role in determining the hydrological processes, particularly the infiltration rate. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is widely used to assess vegetation abundance and health. This discussion paper aims to investigate the relationship between land cover types and NDVI values in the context of infiltration in urban areas. Ubud District is one of the urban and tourism areas with a population and tourism that continues to increase resulting in the conversion of land functions into residential areas, highways, and industrial development. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data analysis techniques utilizing digital classification and spectral index transformation on Sentinel 2A remote sensing data from the year 2022. The results of the study revealed that areas with forest and vegetation cover, characterized by high vegetation density (values ranging from 0.59 to 0.95), contribute to favorable infiltration conditions in urban and tourism areas.Vegetation cover, as indicated by higher NDVI values, positively influences infiltration rates by improving soil structure and water absorption. Incorporating green spaces and vegetation into urban planning strategies can help mitigate stormwater runoff issues and promote sustainable stormwater management practices. However, further research is needed to comprehensively understand the complexities associated with the relationship between land cover, NDVI, and infiltration under various urban contexts.

Abstract

This study have a goals to analyze the opinion of the social media users about ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork, also to know more about the awareness of environment situation now days. The ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork has a message of shape, element of arts and shape of sign, which is analyze by semiotica theory from Pierce. Pierce (2017) explained the meaning of sign is to put forward of something. What is the sign put forward, what are they refers to, and what the sign show on, that he said it as a object. Pierce also do a sign classification that he compare with the ground such as qualisign, sinsign, and legisign. Qualisign is a sign quality. Sinsign is a things actual existence or it’s story. Legisign is a norm that contained by the sign. This theory is used to analyze the response of social media users about ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork, symbolized by sign of the social media user comments to ‘’Anjing Kintamani’’ installation artwork. The study is using descriptive method with qualitative research type, any method of collecting the data is applied to gain accurate datas. With Pierce thought, the result of this study find any response of Instagram users, also Facebook users. Sosial media responses include “likes” and comments on installation artwork are analysed using the semiotic theory of signs.

Abstract

This research aims to make a design as reference to restore the function of children's playground and create a suitable design for the outdoor gym and children's playground area with survey method and proceed with qualitative descriptive analysis which refers to stages of design landscape process by Seymour M. Gold. The result of this research is that the researcher makes a concept design that lead to schematic design based on the result of analytic and synthesis stage. The main concept design refers to the basic form of Museum Bajra Sandhi based on AjiBlêgodawa text then it transformed into design layout of the space that divide into two main space, children’s playground area and outdoor gym area with the mixed circulation path from three types of circulation namely direct circulation, rotating circulation, and collecting circulation. As for the concept facilities, Children’s Playground refers to urban playground concept by utilizing the site as a semi-massive area to give the sense of space exploration for the users, meanwhile the sports facilities refers to cross-fit gym concept to make it more accessible for all. As for the softscape the researcher only use shrubs as an accent and a supporting aspect because this area is already surrounded by large trees.

Abstract

This research analyzes drought occurrence in Karangasem Regency, specifically in Kubu District, Bali Province. Kubu District experiences drought disasters almost every year due to low rainfall and high temperatures. Decreased water supply has a significant impact on agricultural production, particularly on corn crops. To understand drought and its impacts, the Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) analysis method is employed using Landsat 8 satellite imagery. The VCI analysis results reveal significant drought occurrences in 2015, contributing to a decline in agricultural production. Data validation methods are utilized to verify the relationship between VCI and agricultural production through statistical data and field surveys. The validation confirms the adverse effects of drought on agricultural production in Kubu District. This research provides a better understanding of drought in the region and emphasizes the importance of using satellite data and VCI for drought monitoring.

Abstract

Rice stem borer is the most pest often found in rice plantations and is one of the important pests of rice plants in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine species composition of rice stem borer that attacks Ciherang and Pandanwangi varieties and the percentage attack of rice stem borer on both of varieties. The method carried out is purposive sampling and identification of larvae in the laboratory. The study began with the land survey by figure criteria out for planting rice with different varieties in the same subak that found the suitable criteria in Subak Renon. Then, next step install the ajir with diagonal sampling. This study took 100 larvae in 1 variety every week to determine the composition of species that attack rice in Subak Renon. In addition, the sample was observed every week as many as 10 observations. The results of the research on the both varieties found 3 species of rice stem borer were Scirpophaga incertulas, Sesamia inferens, and Chilo suppresalis. The S. incertulas is the dominat pest found in the two varieties. The attack of rice stem borer on the Pandanwangi variety (8.94%) is higher than the Ciherang variety (7.49%).

Abstract

Groundwater need is always increasing due to population growth, climate change, economic growth, and uneven water distribution, especially in the densely populated areas like Denpasar and Badung, which also has a large area of built-up land. Excessive and continuos use of groundwater can cause a decrease in its quality and quantity. Such conditions make the research of groundwater potential is important to do. The purpose of this research is to determine the distribution of groundwater potential in the Denpasar and Badung regions and compare the results with the actual conditions. The methods that are used in this research are the calculation of vegetation index, rainfall data, and DEM data using Remote Sensing. This research results in the form of maps of rainfall, slope, elevation, and maps of NDMI, NDWI, SAVI, GNDVI, NDVI, BSI, dan NDBI. The research showed that groundwater potential in the location is divided into five classes, which are Very low, low, medium, high, and very high. Areas with very low groundwater potential are dominated by West Denpasar, North Denpasar, and parts of South Denpasar. the low class dominates the Kuta area, medium class is spread throughout the region, high class dominates the North Kuta area, while the very high class dominates the lower part of South Denpasar and some parts of North Kuta.
