Buletin Psikologi focuses on contextualizing psychological concepts or phenomena within the socio-cultural setting of Indonesia through the use of non-empirical study, such as, literature review, systematic review, scoping review, and meta-analysis. It accepts articles that are based on the thorough and systematic examination of psychological constructs from the perspective of Indonesian context. The journal is open access, peer-reviewed, and published biannually. We accept and publishes articles in English and Bahasa Indonesia languages to accommodate our diverse audience in Indonesia and internationally.

Abstract

Peristiwa kekerasan dan mengerikan seperti konflik berdarah dan pembunuhan merupakan suaturealitas yang meninggalkan dampak permanen pada korban. Individu yang mengalami traumaakan terus menerus bergumul dengan makna kejadian yang telah dialami bahkan sesudah peristiwatrauma itu sendiri berlalu. Elemen kritikal bagi individu yang mengalami trauma adalah asesmensubyektif mengenai bagaimana mereka merasa terancam dan tak berdaya. Studi tentang traumasosial-psikologi menghadapkan kita pada kondisi mengenai kodrat manusia baik dari sisi terbaikmaupun terburuk.Makalah ini dimulai dengan bahasan mengenai apa yang menjadikan traumadan bagaimana trauma berpengaruh atas hidup individu yang mengalaminya. Sebagai fenomenyang berkaitan erat dengan stres, maka akan bermanfaat bila dampak trauma dipertimbangkan dariaspek diri (self), yang mana konsep self ini sendiri merupakan seperangkat faktor yang kompleks.Trauma akan menggoyangkan dan bahkan mengubah komponen struktural dan fungsional dariself. Dihadapkan dengan pengalaman trauma, individu harus memobilisasikan segenap sumber-sumber yang ada dalam diri maupun dalam lingkungannya sebagai jalan koping dengan situasihidupnya. Pembahasan tentang koping akan mencakup konseptualisasi yang lebih luas daripadaapa yang telah diusulkan oleh Lazarus. Perspektif yang lebih luas ini lebih bermanfaat bagi kitakhususnya bila kita mempelajari naratif sebagai upaya oleh individu untuk memahami danmemaknai apa yang telah menimpa diri mereka. Setiap orang memiliki motif untuk menemukanmakna, nilai-nilai (values) dan tujuan hidup, khususnya setelah mereka mengalami peristiwa yangmengancam kehidupan mereka, semua aspek ini muncul dalam naratif.

Abstract

This article is to share best practices of the author in validating foreign research instruments into Indonesian Language. The words of Cultural and Linguistic Validation may not be something new anymore, but the scientific work on the proper cultural and linguistic validation offoreign instruments into Indonesian Lan- guage, in Indonesia, especially psychomet- ric instruments, is probably rarely done.Report of that is very limited, if there is any. Nevertheless, any comments and critics to this article are most welcomed.

Abstract

Job stress is an iceberg phenomen. A great number of unreported cases and there is no aplicativeprogram in Indonesia cause increase of job stress risk and its negative impact to productivity andcompany image. More complex job demand without appropriate work capacity and inharmonicrelationship in the work place could be the main sources of job stress. This paper is focused on jobstress management program guidance that applicable at company and physiologic stress responseand also in depth theoretical point of job stress management within psycho-physiology aspect. Theaim of this written paper is to increase awareness and understanding of the application of stressmanagement programs among occupational physician, industrial community and industrialpractices. Stress management programs in company not only post about the improvement ofworking conditions also focuses on an individual orientation. On aspects of working conditions, theimprovement should be referring to standard of occupational health and safety (OHS) -management program, while aspect of individual coping skills can be done with the training ofproblem focus technique. Several studies have shown that the program creates respond to the limbicsystem of brain which is integrated with the function of cortex frontals. In addition, it could createrespond to changes body’s homeostasis due to changes in the response of the limbic system to theHPA (hypothalamic - pituitary - adrenal) axis and SAM (symphato - Adreno - medullary) - axis.The effectiveness of the program can be measured by the subjective and objective parameters.

Abstract

The effect of innovation on performance of Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) draws a great ofattention from researchers and practitioners to study further. Based on empirical findings, it is foundout that the correlation between innovation and performance is dependent on context, that is theinnovation does not affect the performance of a company or indicated negative implication betweeninnovation and performance. Meanwhile, other researches reported positive effects of innovation andperformance. The review of researches on the correlation between innovation and SMIs performanceshows contradictory results.The meta-analytical study is aimed at investigating further thecorrelation between innovation and performance on SMI based on researches published between 2004and 2013 in 5 continents (Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa and America). The independent variablewas innovation and the dependent variable was performance, while the moderators variable consistedof the year of the research and the location of survei. The result of the meta-analytical study on thecorrelation between innovation and performance indicated a positive correlation with mean 0.459and the standard deviation 0.168 on 95% confidence interval.

Abstract

Artikel ini memaparkan tentang teori implisit yang perkembangannya dipelopori oleh Carol S. Dweck dan kolega-koleganya. Teori implisit merupakan teori orang awam yang terdiri atas teori entitas dan inkremental. Teori entitas adalah pandangan yang dimiliki orang awam bahwa sifat bersifat permanen, sedangkan teori inkremental adalah pandangan orang awam bahwa sifat bersifat dinamis dan dapat dikembangkan. Pemaparan teori implisit didasarkan pada hasil-hasil penelitian pada berbagai isu belajar dan relasi-relasi sosial, meliputi penelitian-penelitian tentang peran teori implisit pada performansi dan proses-proses belajar yang mendasarinya, pada relasi antar pribadi dan relasi antar kelompok. Selain itu juga dipaparkan hasil penelitian tentang intervensi untuk mengubah teori implisit yang mendukung perubahan diri dan sosial yang konstruktif. Paparan tentang teori implisit diharapkan memberikan pemahaman tentang peran perbedaan individu dalam proses interaksi sosial.
