Abstract

Students are a group that is vulnerable to experiencing mental health problems. This is because they are in a transition period towards adulthood which is one of the most stressful times in human life. However, not all students are able to face all changes in life so that every human being needs a coping to deal with the problems they experience. One of the best coping to do is to seek professional psychological help. In this study, the influence of perceived public stigma to attitudes towards professional help seeking will be tested. This research method is quantitative with a linear regression research design. The subjects in this study were 115 students of Padang State University who had psychological problems. The research data were analyzed using SPSS 25 with a simple linear regression hypothesis test. The results of this study are that there is a significant influence of perceived public stigma on the attitude of seeking professional psychological help (F = 21.573; sig = 0.000) with an influence of 16% (R Square = 0.16).

Abstract

Fatigue is a subjective state of exhaustion associated with reduced motivation, activity, prolonged mental, or boredom that occurs in situations. Academic stress is a form of stress that occurs due to stressors in the teaching and learning process or things related to learning activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between academic stress and fatigue in students. This study uses quantitative methods with Pearson product moment analysis. The population of this research is Padang State University students from 2021 to 2023. The sampling technique for this study used stratified random sampling with a total sample of 468 people. This research instrument uses the Perceived Sources of Academic Stress scale and the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-Short From. Based on the results of the data obtained the value of r = 0.593 with p = 0.000 (sig. <0.05). So it can be said that there is a positive relationship between academic stress and fatigue in Padang State University students from 2021 to 2023. The results show that the high academic stress felt by students is followed by an increase in fatigue felt by students. So it is expected to improve the overall well-being of students and support in achieving optimal academic results without excessive pressure.

Abstract

Risk-taking behavior refers to the tendency to engage in dangerous actions that could harm the individual. Meanwhile, parent-adolescent relationship refers to the interaction between parents and adolescents, encompassing closeness, communication, and comfort. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between parent-adolescent relationship and risk-taking behavior among adolescents. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational design. The population of this study consists of junior high school students in the city of Padang. The sample was selected using non-probability sampling, with a total of 408 participants. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman correlation technique. The results show an r value of -0.774 with p = 0.000, indicating a significant negative relationship between parent-adolescent relationship and risk-taking behavior among adolescents in Padang. The implications of these findings suggest that emotional support and parental involvement play a crucial role in helping adolescents make wise decisions and avoid dangerous risks.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the number of students who violate school rules. This study aims to describe the form of students' violations of school rules related to: (1) attending ceremonies, (2) clothing and makeup, (3) laboratory use, (4) doing homework, (5) paying tuition fees, (6) the learning process, (7) absence and leaving school, 8) worship. The research method used is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The sample in this study were 77 students of SMA N 8 Padang using purposive sampling technique. For data processing using descriptive statistical methods. The results showed that the forms of violation of the rules by students were (1) 46% of students often did not use school attributes during the flag ceremony, (2) 58.4% of students often did not use complete school attributes, (3) 32.4% of students rarely used laboratory coats and complete personal protective equipment, (4) 19, 4% of students rarely do every assignment given independently without cheating friends, (5) 32.4% of students often deliberately do not pay school fees, (6) 48% of students often go to the canteen when there is no teacher in class, (7) 50.2% of students often ask permission from teachers via whatsapp and students are often late entering the classroom after recess, (8) 24.6% of students rarely perform 5-time prayers.

Abstract

Academic stress is a condition where there is a mismatch between school demands and students' abilities so that students are burdened by various school or academic demands. The reality in the field is that there are students who experience academic stress in following the teaching and learning process at school, plus now many schools have implemented a full day school learning system, which makes students spend more time at school. This study aims to describe the academic stress of full day school students in high school from physical responses, emotional responses and behavioral responses.This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted at SMA N 1 Ampek Angkek, with a population of 680 students and a sample of 282 students. Data was obtained by providing research instruments in the form of questionnaires to students. The results of the study were processed to find the percentage and then categorized according to the level of academic stress.The results of the study revealed that, first, the academic stress of SMA N 1 Ampek Angkek students was in the moderate category with a percentage of 43%. This means that SMA N 1 Ampek Angkek students have not been able to control the situation or conditions that cause stress related to academics. Second, academic stress of students related to physical responses is in the moderate category, Third, academic stress of high school students related to emotional responses is in the high category. Fourth, academic stress of high school students related to behavioral responses is in the high category. The implications in guidance and counseling services such as providing information services, individual counseling services, group guidance services and group counseling services.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of a number of factors that influence students' truant behavior at school. This research aims to describe the factors that influence the truancy behavior of students at SMPN 1 Lembah Gumanti in terms of: (1) the aspect of not going to school for days, (2) the aspect of not going to school without permission, (3) the aspect of frequently leaving during class hours. . certain things, (4) aspects of going to school on different days, (5) aspects of being invited by friends to go out for subjects you don't like, (6) aspects of not going to class after break time, (7) aspects of sending permission letters with made-up reasons. For. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The research sample used a total sampling technique of 90 people. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data is processed using a percentage formula. The research results show the factors that influence students to skip class: (1) because they are not in a good mood, (2) because they are not enthusiastic about going to school, (3) because they don't get more pocket money, (4) because they are bored with the material presented. and the way the teacher teaches, (5) because he feels that the teacher who teaches is favoritism, (6) because his friend invited him to sit in the canteen during class time, (7) he left class time because he was invited by his friend, (8) because the class atmosphere was not pleasant, (9) stay in the canteen to eat, (10) because they are not interested in the next subject (11) because they don't do their school work, (12) because they are afraid of being punished if they don't come in without explanation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of parenting style and peers on the character values ​​of adolescents in Jorong Panta, Kenagarian Panta Pauh, Matur District, Agam Regency. This research uses a correlational design with a quantitative approach to analyze the relationship between two independent variables, its parenting style and peer influence, on the dependent variable, namely the formation of adolescent character. The research sample consisted of 55 teenagers aged 15 to 18 years, selected using sampling techniques. Data collection wast carried out through distributing questionnaires that measured three main dimensions: parenting style, peer influence, and adolescent character values. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression to determine the magnitude of the influence of each variable on adolescent character. The results of the research show that both parental style preferences and interactions with peers have a significant influence on the character formation of teenagers in Jorong Panta.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the factors causing 9th-grade students to smoke and arrive late to class at SMP Negeri 1 Kualuh Leidong, to analyze the role and influence of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in addressing these issues, and to explore the solutions provided by PAI teachers to overcome smoking and tardiness among these students. This research employs a quantitative method, with a sample size of 56 students. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires, and data analysis was performed using statistical methods through SPSS. The results of this study indicate that the internal factor leading students to smoke is their curiosity and desire to try it, while external factors include peer influence. Tardiness in attending class is attributed to internal factors such as laziness, and external factors such as long distances and traffic congestion. The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in handling 9th-grade students who smoke and are frequently late to class involves educating, mentoring, and motivating students to understand and practice Islamic teachings. This role significantly impacts addressing these issues, as evidenced by a t-value of 28.000, which is greater than the critical t-value of 1.673 (28.000 > 1.673). The influence of the independent variable (X) on the dependent variable (Y) is 39.6%. The solutions provided by Islamic Religious Education teachers include advising and guiding students, as well as imposing disciplinary actions on those who violate school rules.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the motivations, impacts, and academic achievements of students who marry while pursuing their studies at the Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. Primary data was obtained from interviews with five students who married during their studies, while secondary data was gathered from relevant literature and journals. The findings reveal that the main motivations for students to marry during their studies are to avoid zina (adultery), uphold religious commitments, and prepare for family life. The impact of marriage includes difficulties in balancing study time with household responsibilities, but students report receiving positive emotional support from their spouses. On the other hand, some students face challenges in completing their studies on time and experience disagreements with their spouses. Their academic achievements vary, with some students graduating on time, although there were delays in thesis work and class attendance. This study provides insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by married students, as well as the importance of social support and effective communication with spouses to overcome these obstacles.
