Abstract

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a drilling technique that does not damage the groundsurface; the HDD process involves a stage that requires high concentration and physical skills and isoften carried out in challenging working conditions, causing mental Workload and fatigue in HDDworkers. HDD workers should be given improvements in their work methods to be safe whenworking due to being too tired or losing focus. HDDs must be monitored in real-time, which requiresworkers to get good results without errors so that workers experience workload pressure andmental fatigue. This study aims to measure and minimize mental Workload and fatigue in HDDworkers and determine improvement proposals based on the why-why diagram. Mental workloadmeasurement using the RSME method and fatigue using SOFI and why diagrams are used to findcause and effect in mental Workload and fatigue experienced by HDD workers. Based on the analysisof RSME, the scale value obtained based on six indicators of WL, WD, WP, WME, WA, and WF is 92.05,which is in the category of enormous business carried out, and the KiK indicator or fatigue gets thehighest scale value of 106.52 with the business category given is very large so that HDD workersexperience a mental workload. Mental workload and fatigue correlate. Based on the results of SOFI,the sleepiness dimension received a score of 21.83 with a high level of fatigue category. Therefore, the proposed improvement to the causal results of the Why Diagram is adding the workforce, adjusting work shifts, and monitoring and evaluating HDD workers.

Abstract

Traditional business models consider physical assets such as shops, factories, and offices important in generating the company's revenue. This situation also occurs when a company tries to expand its market. For market expansion, using the traditional business model, the company tends to consider opening several sales office branches to support sales. It has consequences for generating additional costs for the company. With the advanced development of information technology, such as the Internet, customers can be reached through e-market platforms. Therefore, the research presented in this paper proposes a platform business model that can support market expansion without adding additional physical assets to the company. This research hypothesizes that developing websites using local language can help the company gain visitors from the area where it is trying to expand its market. Therefore, in the proposed platform business model supported by a website, it is recommended that the website be developed using the local language to expand the market without adding physical assets such as a sales office. The proposed platform business model is then implemented at PT. D&W International, which has been exporting products overseas since 2005. Using the proposed platform business model, the company develops the websites in three different languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish. The result shows that the platform business model of using a website supported by local language effectively supports the company's business expansion.

Abstract

Kenaf plants are able to absorb 21 to 89 tons of CO2 per hectare per year, depending on the agronomic management and environment. Kenaf plant-based fiber agro-industry in Indonesia serves as an upstream industry that has a potential to increase the export value contribution of kenaf dried fiber, while allowing domestic demand for kenaf dried fiber to be met through Indonesian production. This will have an impact on the reduced value of kenaf dried fiber import. The purpose of this study was to develop a digital platform prototype of a sustainable decision support system for kenaf fiber agro-industry supply chains. Development of this digital platform relied on an Android OS with Java language based decision support system framework, which was previously established using a system development life cycle (SDLC), Waterfall model. This research has succeeded in developing a digital platform decision support system for a sustainable kenaf fiber agro-industry supply chain using a waterfall model SDLC approach. This digital platform helps users to make decisions regarding alternative opportunities for cleaner production and increasing green productivity through measuring green productivity indexes with GVSM as the input. This research can be further developed for implementation of intelligent system-based DSS. Therefore, in future research, DSS can be developed with a model-based management system using an intelligent systems approach.

Abstract

Kenaf fiber is one of plant-based fibers used as an industrial raw material. The business model canvasin this study was an approach used to describe the business model of kenaf fiber agro-industry in theupstream supply chain network. This study aimed to identify value propositions, structural models ofdevelopment strategies, and to design a business model canvas for the agro-industry. AnInterpretative structural modelling method was used to construct a structural model for thedevelopment strategy, and the business model canvas was used to describe this agro-industrybusiness model. BMC is a framework that helps business people describe the current business model. This approach is a static approach that uses past data. However, this approach becomes dynamicafter being integrated with certain scientific methods so that it is able to describe its business modelin the future. The structural model identified that the prominent element that had the significantinfluence on this business was seed suppliers, while the prominent element in development of thisagro-industry strategy was an institution. This research is still limited to the upstream supply chainnetwork, therefore, future research can be developed on the mid-stream and downstream supplychain networks.

Abstract

Single-use plastic packaging is widely used in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) to pack products. The use of single-use plastic packaging has become a daily habit and triggers an increasement of theamount of plastic waste. Nowadays, a linear economy has been swift into a circular economy to savethe environment. One of the best solutions is by providing household cleaning product refill facilitiesin several areas. Also, this research wants to find the influence of household cleaning product refillfacilities in order to reduce single-use plastic packaging waste. The Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB) is used in this research to analyze and estimate people's behavior. The questionnaires werecollected from potential customers and consumers who will or have refilled their liquid body wash atthe filling facility, especially in DKI Jakarta region. Also, this research helps to identify the impact ofenvironmental consciousness, environmental knowledge, subjective norms, and green marketing onthe purchase intention to refill cleaning products at filling facilities. The data obtained were thentested using Spearman's correlation and multiple linear regression tests. The result of this researchshows that the purchase intention to refill cleaning products at filling facilities is influenced by eachvariable of the research. Therefore, innovative refill cleaning products at filling facilities can be asolution to reduce the increase in plastic waste.

Abstract

Fitness centers are the favorite place for most urban communities to do physical fitness training activities. However, among the millions who practice fitness in the gym, only certain people know how to exercise using gym equipment correctly. One alternative solution to overcome the problem is using a personal trainer application based on android. Android-based applications are used in this research because it is easier to use than the physical fitness guidebook and cheaper than hiring a personal trainer. This research recruits ten people to prove increased physical performance after using an android-based application by doing fitness training with and without an android-based application. The test will measure at two conditions. The first condition is that right after fitness training, the respondent will measure physical performance analysis using Nordic Body Map (NBM) Questionnaire and maximum oxygen volume. Second, twenty-four hours after fitness training, the respondent’s physical performance was measured again using NBM and Mc Gill Pain questionnaire to measure Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). After fitness training activities with the android-based application, there is an increase in physical performance and reduced injury potential, which can be seen from a significantly reduced DOMS score from Mc Gill Pain questionnaire. However, NBM score and maximum oxygen volume result are insignificant.

Abstract

There were 47 work accidents at the studied manufacturing company from 2014 to 2016. Thehighest number of work accidents occurred in metalworking processes such as forging and casting, where as many as 22 work accidents, or 46.8% of the total number of work accidents, occurred. So itis necessary to identify the causes of work accidents and control the risk of operational workaccidents. Accidents that occur include being squeezed, bumped, run over, punctured, cut, scratched, hit by an explosion, involved in traffic accidents, and others. So this study aims to prevent these typesof accidents. This study applied hierarchical risk control methodology to provide risk control andreduce the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value for each work activity that has the highest number ofwork accidents. Recommendations that can be implemented are engineering control, administrativecontrol, and PPE control for melting, furan, disamatic, fettling/clearing, and finishing workstations. The results of the proposed risk control resulted in a decrease in the RPN at each workstation.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) represent a significant occupational health issue, particularly in sectors involving frequent manual handling, which is a major contributor to MSDs risk. The high incidence of MSDs among warehouse workers underscores the critical need for thorough risk analysis in manual handling activities to enhance worker health and safety and reduce associated injuries. This study contributes to this effort by analyzing MSD risks specifically in the warehouse environment of PT DNL, employing two established assessment methods: The Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and The Manual Handling Assessment Chart (MAC) Tool. By systematically observing manual handling tasks, data were collected and evaluated to determine the level of MSD risk faced by workers in these high-exertion activities. The REBA analysis revealed that workers’ postures, especially during tasks such as unloading from lower stacks and repositioning for distribution, carry a very high risk, with a total score of 11. Similarly, the MAC Tool assessment identified critical risk factors, with lifting operations scoring 17 (indicating four high-risk factors) and carrying operations scoring 15 (indicating two high-risk factors). These findings point to immediate intervention requirements, with recommendations such as using hydraulic lift tables and automatic pallets to reduce bending, alongside instituting guidelines to ensure packages are easy to handle, like incorporating box handles. This research provides a valuable framework for MSD risk reduction strategies in manual handling, contributing to improved occupational safety standards in warehouse operations.

Harapan Mulya Putri is a manufacturing company established in 2010. This company produces equipment for cleaning or cleaning tools, hotel equipment, restaurant equipment, household equipment, and traffic signs. Problems encountered by Harapan Mulya Putri company that the number of stainless steel trash backorders will reach 28% in 3 months. This study aims to reduce the number of back orders in the production process of stainless steel trash bins. Reducing the number of back orders is done by designing a simulation model of stainless steel trash bin production. The method used is a dynamic system simulation. Three scenarios are used to maximize the fulfillment of consumer demand. The first scenario is a policy of adding raw materials suppliers send, such as 150 units of stainless steel plates. The simulation results for the first scenario resulted in a 75% decrease in back orders. The second scenario is ordering based on the bill of material grouping to optimize raw material utilization. The simulation results of the second scenario reduced back orders by 56.25%. The third policy scenario is combined with the first and second scenarios. The results of the third simulation show that back orders have decreased by 87.5%. Thus, the selected scenario is the third scenario.
