Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of social media on students' academic performance. The case study is based on the academic performance of students majoring in business administration at a higher education institution in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A conceptual framework was developed from previous research which includes social media information, social media innovation, social media entertainment, social media knowledge generation, and student performance. Quantitative methods were used to distribute questionnaires to 376 respondents. A multistage sampling technique was conducted by nonprobability sampling, using judgmental sampling to select university students, quota sampling to calculate the sample size, and convenience sampling to distribute the questionnaire online, using several popular social networks. Before collecting data, the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) was used to validate the constructs. Factor loadings and Cronbach's alpha were tested for reliability, using 50 respondents as a pilot study, single and multiple linear regressions were applied to test hypotheses, and correlation matrices were used to identify variable relationships. The results indicated that social media information, social media innovation, and social media entertainment have a strong effect on social media knowledge creation. In addition, social media knowledge creation has a strong impact on student performance.

The communication is very important in business. The good communication between producers, distributors, and consumers will increase the effectiveness of entrepreneurial activities. This research aims to examine the factors which affected management students’ understanding of English terminology in Management reports. The qualitative descriptive analysis is used in this research since it aims to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics. The sample population in this research consists of 151 students enrolled in first semester of 2022-2023 academic year at Management Department of Economics and Business faculty at Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya. Based on the research result, the management students’ ability to comprehend the English vocabulary used in business reports depends on several things, including students’ limited command of English, their desire to learn English to support their comprehension of foreign languages, and their limited access to sources of information about the English terms used in business reports. The most effective way to understanding English terminology in management report is to translate the English terminology into the local tongue using cultural factors, context, and translation techniques to produce word harmonization in local tongue.

Abstract

There are many misconceptions about the concept of God's vice-regent in the true meaning. It concerns the initial concept that a word contains, which is one of several causes that result in a change of meaning. If this continues, it will give new meaning and make the meaning of the word no longer identified, or has disappeared. The objectives of this research are to find out the definition and characteristics of God's vice-regent according to Imam al-Tsa'laby al-Maghriby al-Maliki which he was famous for his guardianship in his time, and to find out Imam al-Tsa'laby's perception of God's vice-regent. In addition, to find the relevance and contextualization of Imam al-Tsa'laby al-Maghriby al-Maliki's thoughts that are studied in the current context. This research used a qualitative approach that is more descriptive and library research, and the data sources that researchers use are divided into two, (1) primary sources, Jawahir al-Hisaan commentary; (2) secondary sources, which are literature that supports primary data obtained from books related to God's vice-regent. The results of this research indicated that the basic principles in understanding the God's vice-regent are believers who have obedience and worship of God, and whoever believes and fears God, then he belongs to the God's vice-regent, and this is required by sharia in the vice-regent, who has no fear of the hereafter, and perhaps in this world, they do not fear anyone from the inhabitants of this world, nor from its symptoms, and they do not grieve for those they miss from it.
