Abstract

The emergence of modern Nigerian art was premised on the efforts of artists. In the study of Nigerian artists, early-generation artists were the focus. The studies were not particularly concentrated on artists in Nigerian Art schools. Whereas, after the initial studies, more artists have evolved with enormous contributions. Later-generation artists, particularly those with significant contributions to Nigerian Art school development deserve adequate scholastic attention. There is consequently a dearth of scholarship on later-generation artists in Nigerian Art schools. This study aims to provide information on the contributions of selected artists in Nigerian Art schools. The study biographically examined eleven selected Nigerian artists who, as pioneers, function in professional, academic, and administrative capacities in visual art departments in Nigerian universities. Findings revealed these artists’ contributions via the responsibilities they undertook as heads of the department, deans of faculty, vice-chancellors, visiting, associate or adjunct lecturers, external examiners, academic assessors, resource persons in programme audit and accreditation exercise, and consultants on the establishment of visual art departments. They are actively involved in the curriculum and developmental plan designing, teaching, research, and research supervision. They pilot the affairs of their departments by providing leadership at various points in time. Conclusively, their contributions are vital to the founding, growth, and sustenance of visual arts departments in Nigerian universities and Nigerian visual arts.

Abstract

Premeditated murders are quite challenging to obtain additional statements as there are generally no witnesses at the crime scene. However, the perpetrators have already planned to eliminate possible witnesses. Therefore, the role of the perpetrator’s witness (justice collaborator) is very important in the investigation process and court decision. According to the Criminal Code, the legal subject of the case is a “person” (for example, in article 340 of the Criminal Code, it is referred to as “anyone,” which means a specific individual). This research aims to understand the role of justice collaborators in sanction decisions by judges and analyze the differences in judges’ decisions through a study of two decisions: 103/Pid.B/2022/Pn.Mks and 798/Pid.B/2022/Pn.Jkt.Sel. This research used normative approach, relying on secondary data such as laws, court decisions, and legal theories. This research showed that there is no specific regulation on sanctions for a justice collaborator (witness who cooperates with law enforcement) in Indonesia. Judges have the flexibility to consider the sanctions imposed on justice collaborators, so there are often differences in punishment even though the offenses are the same. Justice collaborators get an advantage in law if they help law enforcement officials solve criminal cases.

Abstract

Pekan Kebudayaan Nasional 2023 (PKN 2023) was held from 20 to 29 October 2023 in various areas in Jabodetabek. Researcher observed the Tanjung Priok Station and found that the RajutKejut community had created a lounge area known as "Ruang Kopdar." This research aims to uncover the meanings behind the work "Ruang Kopdar" created by the RajutKejut community. The research was conducted qualitatively through observations, interviews, and literature studies. The cultural phenomenon of RajutKejut will be analyzed using a cultural studies approach to uncover its meaning. Stuart Hall and Paul du Gay introduced the Circuit of Culture, a model for analyzing and interpreting cultural phenomena. This model identifies five elements of cultural practice: representation, production, consumption, identity, and regulation. The research findings revealed that RajutKejut's installation "Ruang Kopdar" at Tanjung Priok Station transforms the building's cold, gloomy atmosphere into a warmer, more inviting space. This contrast highlights the hot climate and challenging lives of the area's residents. The installation fosters a dynamic interplay between creation and enjoyment, where production and consumption meet to create joy. Researcher perceive "Ruang Kopdar" as a space where expression and existence converge, providing a meaningful contribution that restores a sense of humanity and satisfies fundamental social needs.

Abstract

Coffee is the most popular beverage in the world, and coffee culture in Cambodia is gaining popularity among young adults in Phnom Penh. Many drink coffee to reduce stress or refresh their minds, while others consume it to generate energy for their entire workday. This study investigates the factors influencing coffee consumption among young adults in the capital city of Cambodia. It aims to fill a gap in the existing knowledge, as research in this area has been limited. Additionally, the study seeks to create competitive advantages in the coffee beverage industry, particularly for small business enterprises. Quantitative methods were used to address a larger population and gather quantifiable data, producing more reliable results than qualitative methods. The findings showed that brand image, price, taste, and atmosphere influenced coffee buying intention. Among these, taste was the biggest factor. The intention to buy coffee then strongly influenced the actual purchase decision.
