Abstract

The objectives of this research were to know the differences between students vocabulary achievement into class taught by using Project Based Learning and those who are taught using Direct Method in teaching English, to know the differences between students fluency achievement into class taught by using Project Based Learning and those who are taught using Direct Method in teaching English, and to know the differences significant between students’ vocabulary and fluency achievement who are taught by using Project Based Learning and Direct Method in teaching English at second grade of SMPN 1 Barru. The design of this research was Quasi Experimental Research that used one group as control class and another group as experiment class. The population of this research was the second grade of students SMPN 1 Barru, academic years 2019/2020. The sample of this research was VIII 1 and VIII 2 class, where each class consists of 20 students and the total sample were 40 students. The results of data analysis showed that the mean score of students’ vocabulary in experimental class was higher than students’ vocabulary in control class (78>66.6), and the mean score of students’ fluency in experimental was higher than students’ fluency in control class (84.1>69.9). After analyzing the data, the t-test value vocabulary and fluency in teaching English were higher than the t-table, the t-test value of vocabulary was 2.274 and the t-test value of fluency was 2.636, while the value of t-table was 2.024. It means that there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary and fluency in teaching English between before and after using project based learning method.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the influence of English Comic as Mediaon students reading comprehension that focus on level of literal and interpretative of comprehension. The researcher applied pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research was class VIII A of SMP NEGERI 1 BARRU which consisted of 30 students. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling method. The research findings showed that the second grade of SMP NEGERI 1 BARRU had Fair score in pre-test. After given treatment their reading comprehension was significantly improved. The result of the research was the mean score of pre - test in Literal (main Idea) score of pre-test was 58.6 and post-test was 86.56. In sequence of detail the score of pre-test was 56.4 and post-test was 92.6 with t-test value Literal is greater than t-table (13.26 > 2.45). Mean score of interpretative in pre - test was 63.63 and post-test was 82 with the t-test value is greater that t-table (8.34 >2.45). The result of calculating t-test of the indicators in the students t-test (Literal and Interpretative) was greater than t-table 21.60 > 2.45. it means that there was significance different between before and after giving the treatment. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded that the use of OKRE Influence the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of students in learning vocabulary mastery after using the ostensive means that in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary, teachers can bring real objects according to the theme of lessons. This research focuses to noun (things at home, part of body, animal, and fruits). The researcher used the pre-xperimental method, consist of pre-test treatment, and post-test design, and collected the data by giving pre-test and posttest. The sample of the research was class VII SMPN 4 Malili which was 25 students. The sample that researcher used was purposive sampling technique. The result of the research was score in the pre-test was 41, and in the post-test was 75,44. In this research also show that The value t-test was higher than the value of the t-table (27,04>1.713 ). It mean that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded the implementation of ostensive means in VII grade of SMP Negeri 4 Malili was effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery consist noun

Abstract

Pre Experimental research with pre-test and post-test was used in the research. This study sample was class VII.B at SMPN 1 Parigi in academic year 2020/2021 which consist of 22 students. The research findings indicated that at SMPN 1 Parigi, random text strategy will enhance learner’s literal reading comprehension. It was proven by the mean score of pre-test was 46.36 and post-test was 77.77. The improvement of pre-test to be post-test was 67.75%. The result of improvement is also proved with t-test value. The researcher found that the value of t-test was 8.75 was greater that t-table 2.07. It was concluded that the use of the Random Text strategy at SMPN 1 Parigi was effective to improve the literal reading understanding of the students.
