Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Many students have been accustomed to smoking, including those majoring at health sciences. Theoretically, they are supposed to be the ones who are actively aware of some possible health damages caused by smoking habit. Thus, people around them play an essential role in taking control of someone?s pattern through social support, especially over those who are highly motivated to quit smoking. Objective: This study aimed to identify smoking behavior, social support, and cessation motivation in smoking among health sciences? students. Methods: This research was categorized as observational-descriptive one, with the use of accidental sampling technique to recruit as many as 63 students of faculty of health sciences who were defined as active smokers. The data, furthermore, were collected by means of a questionnaire. At last, a statistical-descriptive analysis was used to evaluate the data. Result: The result was most of the involved respondents were shown to have a moderate trend of smoking (65%). On the other hand, the majority of the respondents had been supported through some types of social support with relatively high percentage, to name appraisal support (indicating 71%), tangible support (indicating 87%), self-esteem support (indicating 97%), and belonging support (indicating 92%). Moreover, most of the respondents were equipped by the high level of quittance motivation from smoking, signifying 71%.  Discussion: This research had indicated that the level of smoking habit perceived by the respondents was moderate. In short, appraisal support was defined as high, tangible support low, self-esteem support high, and belonging support high. In addition, some of the respondents had demonstrated a high level of quittance motivation from smoking

Abstract

The quality of care can be influenced by the quality of nurses' work-life which describes the satisfaction of nurses at the workplace. Therefore, this study was aimed to analyze the relationship between the quality of nurses' work-life and the quality of care for patients in the inpatient ward at regional hospitals in Jember Regency. A cross-sectional approach used among 53 nurses as a total sampling and 53 clients in the inpatient ward were chosen by purposive sampling. Data collection was done by filling out questionnaires on the quality of nurses' work-life and the quality of care for clients. The findings showed that the quality of nurses' work-life was good (49%) and the quality of care was good (49%). The analysis result by using Chi-square showed that there was a relationship between the quality of nurses' work-life and quality of care (p value=0.009,a=0.05). Research has found that poor nursing care quality is caused by the low quality of work-life. Nurses who had a good quality of nursing work-life would give good quality of care and otherwise. Therefore, planning strategies to create comfort workplace with improving each dimension of the quality of nurses' work-life is important to improve the quality of care.

Abstract

Introduction: The nurses' assessment accuracy and confidence in the handling of mass victims of traffic accidents in the prehospital phase was an important success key of subsequent handling of victims when taken to the hospital, and vice versa if there was an error in providing help could be fatal for victims. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of face-to-face and watch video simulations of the assessment accuracy and nurses’ confidence in conducting prehospital disaster triage of victims of land traffic accidents using the SALT Triage model.Research Methods: Quasi experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The sample size was 32 nurses who were divided into 2 groups, namely the face-to-face simulation group and the watch video SALT Triage simulation group. The samples were taken by non-random sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used was Paired t test and Independent t-testResults: There was no difference in the average nurses’ assessment accuracy and confidence in the face-to-face group with the group watching the simulation video. Statistical test results obtained p value> α = 0.05Conclusion: The sorting mass victims of the SALT Triage model can teach nurses by providing face-to-face or watching a simulation video about SALT Triage. Both ways were equally good at conveying information

Kata kunci: krisis hipertensi, hipertensi emergensi, hipertensi urgensiABSTRACTHypertension is a leading cause of death and become major risk factor for cardiac, cerebral, renal and vascular disease.
