Abstract

Production of industrial mine salt in Indonesia is still not sufficient for national needs, forcing Indonesia to import it. In fact, the potential of the region and its resources to become a salt producer is enormous. This is allegedly due to inefficiencies in the production process. It is known that one of the salts that generally has industrial salt levels of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is mine salt. Therefore, this study examines whether there is technical inefficiency and its determinants of industrial salt mining household businesses in Indonesia. The data used is raw data from the Annual Survey of Industrial Material Quarrying and Construction with the GALIAN-URT questionnaire in Indonesia in 2022. Cobb-Douglas Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) is used to measure technical inefficiency. The results of this study indicate that the length of time a business operates has a positive effect on technical efficiency. The average technical efficiency obtained is 0.66 which means that production is not optimal. Variations in inefficiency between businesses are dominated by variables that cannot be controlled by business owners.

Abstract

Every stock investor has an investment objective to gain profits. However, many investors still lack an understanding of the risks and benefits of their investments. Investors need to choose the right companies to invest in. The telecommunications sector is considered promising for investment, given the positive sentiments towards it since 2015. Nonetheless, companies within this sector vary in size, leading to differing investment risks. This research aims to analyze the investment risk level of companies with different sizes in the telecommunications sector. The analysis results indicate that large companies like TLKM, ISAT, and EXCL have lower stock price fluctuations compared to smaller companies like FREN, KBLV, and GOLD. This trend is also consistent with the movement of returns for these companies. Based on the Value at Risk (VaR) and average volatility, the lowest investment risk level is found in TLKM, while GOLD and KBLV have the highest investment risk.

Abstract

Learning outcomes in several Indonesian provinces remain notably low, evident by high school dropout rates, including in East Nusa Tenggara Province. Children from impoverished households face a greater risk of school discontinuation. In 2021, East Nusa Tenggara Province ranked as the third highest in poverty-stricken population and had the largest school-age population percentage in Indonesia. This study aims to provide a general overview of internal and external factors influencing school dropout among impoverished individuals aged 10-18 in East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2021, along with associated variables. The research employs 2021 National Socio-Economic Survey data and a livelihood analysis using the accelerated failure time model. The study reveals that variables such as employment status, household head's education, parental completeness, and participation in the Indonesia Pintar Program affect school attendance resilience, with a notable impact from the child's employment status on rapid school discontinuation.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the economic sectors that has a role in meeting food needs. The sustainability and development of agriculture certainly requires the contribution of generation Z who is the next generation of the nation. But this seems a little difficult considering that the employment of the agricultural sector is declining, especially in generation Z. Therefore, it is important to know what factors cause generation Z to no longer choose the agricultural sector as their main job and how these factors are related between provinces in Indonesia. The labor absorption of a region is influenced by other regions, meaning that there is spatial autocorrelation, so spatial analysis is carried out. The model used is Spatial Error Model (SEM), because there is dependency between dependent variables and there is error correlation between regions. The results of the analysis show that GDP per capita in the agricultural sector, land area, and average years of schooling have a significant effect on the number of workers in the agricultural sector. In contrast, the gender dominance of a region, and the Farmer Exchange Rate have no significant effect.

Abstract

Financial investment is an investment made by economic actors in financial markets through various financial instruments such as stocks, gold, and cryptocurrencies. This study has the goal of modeling the volatility of stock returns, gold, and cryptocurrencies during the Covid-19 pandemic. The data used is secondary data with the daily highest price during the peak period of the Covid-19 pandemic with the period 1 November 2020 to 30 April 2022. Modeling volatility on stock returns, gold, and cryptocurrencies which are asymmetrical uses EGARCH(1,1), EGARCH(0,1), and EGARCH(1,1). The three investment instruments have a leverage effect, namely bad news has a greater impact than good news, and the estimated volatility gives the result that cryptocurrency is the riskiest instrument followed by gold than stock.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Child poverty have a significant impact on the future quality of the adult population. Estimating the level of child poverty accurately, especially at regency/city level, is crucial for targeted policy interventions. Direct estimations based on SUSENAS data have a Relative Standard Error (RSE) value of more than 25%, necessitating the use of an indirect method called small area estimation (SAE). The province of Banten has consistently had the lowest Gross Participation Rate (GPR) for Early Childhood Education (ECE) among the provinces in Java over the years which can be interpreted as an early indication of limited access to children's education due to poverty. In this study, the level of child poverty in the districts/cities of Banten Province was estimated using the hierarchical bayes Rao-Yu model with normal and beta distribution approach. The results of this study indicate that although it produces the best precision, the SAE Rao-Yu HB Beta estimation has results with a smaller level of consistency than the normal SAE Rao-Yu HB estimation.

Abstract

Food is a basic need for humans to be able to live and improve their lives. The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) and the Food Security Index (IKP) are each a measure of how good food security is in the world and Indonesia. In 2022 Indonesia's GFSI score is ranked 69th in the world and sixth in ASEAN countries. Indonesia's GFSI has also decreased from 2018 to 2021. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of consumption on a decrease in the level of food security as reflected in Indonesia's GFSI scores for the 2018-2021 period based on 2 GFSI aspects, namely Affordability and Availability. The data used is panel data from 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2018 to 2021 which were analyzed using the panel data regression method. The Random Effect Model (REM) was chosen as the best model in this study with the results showing that Rice Productivity, Total Rice Consumption, and Protein Consumption have a positive and significant effect on the Level of Food Security.

Abstract

Food security is one of the nation’s responsibility in ensuring the appropriate and affordable foods for its citizens, especially rice. However, the rising number of agricultural land function conversion together with inequality rice production in every provinces still challenge our government in achieving the national food security. Understanding this situation, this research is conducted to analyze the factors influencing rice production in each province in Indonesia in 2021. To achieve this purpose, descriptive analysis and inferential analysis are employed, utilizing the Geographically Weighted Regression due to the spatial factors involved in each province and the occurrence of spatial heterogeneity from the global model. GWR model shows a better performance compared to global model in modelling the rice production growth in Indonesia. The results shows that there are six regional groups based on significant variables. Furthermore, labor still be the main factor in increasing rice production across all provinces also the intensity of fertility must be considered in order to achieve food security in Indonesia.

Abstract

Agriculture is an important sector in the Indonesian economy. Based on data from Statistics Indonesia, the contribution of the agricultural sector to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) always ranks third largest after the manufacturing sector and the wholesale and retail trade sector. However, the contribution and growth of the agricultural sector GDP continues to decline from year to year. This indicates a slowdown in the performance of the agricultural sector compared to other sectors. This study aims to analyze the productivity of the agricultural sector as measured by the value of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) and to determine whether there exist inefficiency in the production process of the agricultural sector and its determinants in Java. The method used is Stochastic Frontier Analysis. The results showed that the productivity of the agricultural sector in Java was relatively low with an average TFP of 0,8150. Then it was found that there is a technical inefficiency problem in the agricultural production process in Java with an average of 0,2498. This means that the agricultural sector in Java in 2020 has not been able to reach its maximum production level due to the production process that is not fully efficient. Manufacturing sector GRDP, population growth, and government expenditure on agriculture have a negative and significant effect on agricultural technical inefficiency.

Abstract

Eradication of extreme poverty is one of the goals to be achieved among the global goals (SDGs). Eradicating extreme poverty is inseparable from the role of governments as policymakers. Policy creation requires high-precision data. Aggregate extreme poverty data are collected based on the National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas), based on Susenas results in March 2022 East Java is one of the provinces with a high number of people living below the extreme poverty line. Besides that, the high RSE in estimating the percentage of people in extreme poverty in regency/city in East Java province makes the precision low. Low precision results in inaccurate estimated data and should not be used, especially for policy making. One way to improve accuracy is to use Small Area Estimation (SAE). The most commonly used SAE model is EBLUP, and for unsampled area estimation, the estimation can use clusters of information. Problems that arise in forming clusters are outliers in the observed data, which can lead to forming errors within the clusters. A cluster of algorithms that can be used to overcome these problems is Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM).
