Abstract

General Background: Teacher productivity is a critical factor in achieving educational quality in Islamic-based schools. Specific Background: Spiritual values and organizational work culture are frequently highlighted as contributing elements to improve teacher motivation and performance, yet studies examining both aspects simultaneously remain limited. Knowledge Gap: Previous research has focused more on technical competencies and management systems, while the integration of spirituality and work culture into teacher productivity has not been fully explored. Aim: This study aims to analyze the role of spirituality and work culture in supporting teacher productivity in Islamic-based schools. Results: The findings show that spirituality fosters commitment, responsibility, and sincerity, while a strong work culture creates discipline, collaboration, and consistency, both of which significantly reinforce teacher productivity. Novelty: The research highlights the simultaneous contribution of spiritual values and work culture, providing a more holistic perspective on teacher performance in Islamic-based schools. Implications: The results suggest that Islamic schools should prioritize both spiritual development and a supportive work culture to sustainably increase teacher productivity and institutional quality. Highlights: Spirituality builds sincerity and responsibility Work culture strengthens discipline and collaboration Both aspects improve teacher productivity holistically Keywords: Spirituality, Work Culture, Teacher Productivity, Islamic Schools, Education

Abstract

General background: Critical thinking is an essential competency in 21st-century education, requiring learning models that actively involve students. Specific background: Elementary science education often remains teacher-centered, limiting opportunities for students to develop reasoning skills. Knowledge gap: Few studies in Indonesia have investigated the integration of Islamic values within inquiry-based science learning, particularly in fostering students’ critical thinking. Aims: This study aims to examine the role of science-based inquiry learning integrated with Islamic values in improving critical thinking among fourth-grade students. Results: Using a mixed-method design, findings indicate that the experimental class applying inquiry learning showed higher post-test scores and N-gain compared to the control class with conventional learning. Students actively engaged in investigations, discussions, and reflections while relating their learning to Qur’anic values. Novelty: The study uniquely integrates Islamic teachings with scientific inquiry to cultivate both cognitive and spiritual development. Implications: The findings suggest that inquiry-based learning contextualized with Islamic values can foster meaningful science learning while shaping students’ character and critical thinking abilities. Highlights : Integration of Islamic values with inquiry learning supports critical thinking. Students show higher achievement in inquiry-based classes. Inquiry learning provides meaningful cognitive and spiritual development. Keywords : Inquiry Learning, Science Education, Islamic Values, Critical Thinking, Mixed Methods

Abstract

General background: Islamic religious education in Indonesia has often relied on teacher-centered and traditional methods, which limit student engagement. Specific background: Such approaches tend to cause boredom, passivity, and limited learning outcomes among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students. Knowledge gap: Few systematic studies have comprehensively reviewed the implementation of innovative strategies, particularly Discovery Learning, within Islamic elementary education. Aims: This article systematically reviews recent studies (2021–2023) to examine how Discovery Learning enhances the effectiveness of Islamic education. Results: The findings reveal that Discovery Learning shifts learning from passive to active, fosters critical thinking, increases motivation, and improves cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes. Novelty: Unlike prior works focusing only on teacher performance, this study highlights the dual role of teachers as facilitators and students as active knowledge seekers within Islamic education. Implications: The study underscores the necessity for educators to adopt Discovery Learning as a transformative pedagogical method, ensuring Islamic education is more participatory, meaningful, and aligned with contemporary learning needs. Highlights: Shifts Islamic education from teacher-centered to student-centered learning. Enhances critical thinking, motivation, and learning outcomes. Provides evidence for Discovery Learning as a transformative method in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Keywords: Discovery Learning, Islamic Education, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Active Learning, Pedagogy

Abstract

General background: The digital transformation in the 5.0 era requires Islamic educational institutions to adopt adaptive management systems. Specific background: The Indonesian government provides free learning accounts for students and teachers as part of this effort. Knowledge gap: While previous studies emphasize learning accounts in teaching and assessment, limited attention is given to their role in institutional management. Aims: This study investigates the implementation of learning account upgrading, its use in management, and the challenges faced by Islamic educational institutions. Results: Conducted at Al Fattah Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo, from December 18–31, 2023, using quantitative methods through observation, documentation, and interviews, findings show that 56.25% of users had activated their accounts. However, 71.3% of junior high students had not activated due to limited access to laptops and Chromebooks (2–5 users per device). Novelty: This research highlights how learning accounts are upgraded to support digitalized management beyond classroom use. Implications: Institutions are encouraged to strengthen digital infrastructure and provide socialization to maximize account utilization for sustainable management in the digital era. Highlights: Learning account upgrading extends beyond teaching into institutional management. Main obstacle: limited device availability among junior high students. Novel contribution: bridging management digitalization in Islamic boarding schools. Keywords: Learning Account; Upgrading; Islamic Education; Digitalization; Management

Specific Background: Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah 1 Paciran, as a leading Islamic high school, applies input–process–output management but faces challenges in maintaining consistent standards. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have deeply explored how Islamic secondary schools address obstacles in quality management through practical strategies. Aims: This research aims to analyze the obstacles, solutions, and indicators of quality management at MA Muhammadiyah 1 Paciran. Results: The study, using descriptive qualitative methods through observation and interviews, reveals that input challenges include detailed planning in student admission (PPDB), process challenges involve teachers’ limited use of PAIKEM and IT skills, while output challenges are related to students’ inconsistent engagement in follow-up programs. Solutions include structured TUPOKSI in PPDB, continuous teacher training, IT-based learning media, and institutional motivation programs. Novelty: This study emphasizes integrated solutions combining administrative detail, pedagogical strategies, and technological adaptation within an Islamic education context. Implications: Findings highlight the importance of structured management and innovation in Islamic high schools to strengthen student outcomes and institutional competitiveness.
