Abstract

Mental health problems are commonly occurring not just in hearing population but also in deaf community. Currently, there is no publication in Indonesia reporting on mental health problems in deaf individuals. This study aims to determine the sociodemographic characteristics, prevalence of mental problems, and relationship between sociodemographic characteristic and mental health problems in deaf community. This research used cross-sectional design with univariate and bivariate analysis. The sample population was obtained in 20 cities across Indonesia with total respondents of 604 based on inclusion criteria. The results of this study showed 401 participants (66.4%) with mental health problems (anxiety/depression) using Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20). Bivariate analysis showed significant relationship between gender (p<0.05 and mental health problems while other sociodemographic factors did not. 14 out of 20 cities reported more than 50% participants with mental health problems. As conclusion, this study revealed high prevalence of mental health problems in deaf individuals, which is higher compared to normal hearing population, and age may be one factor related to deaf mental health.

Abstract

Heart disease is the leading cause of premature death in Indonesia, significantly impacting both health and the economy. In 2023, BPJS Kesehatan allocated IDR 23.52 trillion for heart disease treatment, the highest expenditure among all diseases. This study aims to quantify the burden of heart disease by calculating years of life lost (YLL) and productivity costs, highlighting the need for effective prevention strategies. Using BPJS Kesehatan mortality data from 2018–2023, covering 218,279 individuals, this study identified heart disease-related deaths and calculated YLL using the Burden of Disease framework and World Health Organization (WHO) life expectancy tables. The analysis focused on the working-age population (15–64 years) at national and provincial levels, linking YLL data to provincial minimum wages, with a gender-based analysis. Significant variations in productivity losses due to heart disease were found across provinces. Central Java had the highest loss (IDR 9.39 trillion), followed by East Java (IDR 9.20 trillion). Jakarta, with the highest minimum wage, had a comparatively smaller loss (IDR 7.92 trillion). Males accounted for 65% of productivity losses. These findings underscore the need for targeted health interventions to reduce YLL and mitigate economic burdens through early detection, improved healthcare access, and public health campaigns.

Abstract

Hypertension remains one of the leading global risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Despite the availability of multiple antihypertensive drug classes, achieving optimal blood pressure control continues to be a major clinical challenge worldwide. This research aims to compare the efficacy of Ramipril and Losartan in the management of Primary Hypertension. This scoping review analyzed articles published between January 2006 and January 2026 from PubMed, ScienceDirect, OpenAlex, and DOAJ. Inclusion criteria included English-language observational studies addressing the efficacy of both antihypertensives. Four articles were selected after a rigorous screening process. Ramipril was more effective in reducing SBP and DBP, whereas Losartan was superior for EF and LV remodeling. Ramipril also increased GSH and total antioxidant status, while Losartan was more effective for metabolic and vascular remodeling biomarkers. Ramipril is commonly associated with adverse effects such as cough, whereas dizziness is more frequently reported with Losartan. Losartan has been shown to be more effective in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and may also contribute to improvements in insulin resistance. Further head-to-head comparison studies are needed to guide optimal therapy.
