Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the “ijarah” (lease) contract to “rahn” (collateral-backed loan) products at Pegadaian Syariah (Sharia-compliant pawnshops) from the perspective of Sharia microeconomics. DSN-MUI Fatwa Number 25/DSN-MUI/III/2002 stipulates that “ijarah” fees must not be determined based on the loan amount but rather as compensation for the maintenance and safekeeping of the pledged collateral. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach based on library research, utilizing secondary data from books, scholarly journals, DSN-MUI fatwas, and other relevant literature. The findings indicate that the application of “rahn” and “ijarah” contracts at Pegadaian Syariah reflects Sharia microeconomic principles: justice (al-'adl), public interest (maslahah), balance (tawazun), transparency, and mutual assistance (ta'awun). From a Sharia microeconomic perspective, the “ijarah” contract benefits the public by providing access to financing that is fast, convenient, and free from “riba” (usury), while Pegadaian Syariah generates revenue from asset safekeeping services rather than from interest on the loan itself. Thus, the application of the “ijarah” contract to “rahn” products represents the implementation of a transaction mechanism that aligns with Sharia principles and supports the creation of an economic system that is just and oriented toward public welfare

Abstract

Abstract

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is one of the main indicators used to measure the performance and development of a country’s economy. GDP growth reflects changes in the production capacity of goods and services generated by an economy over time. This study aims to analyze the development of Indonesia’s GDP growth rate during the 2021–2025 period and identify growth dynamics based on business sectors and expenditure components. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), particularly the official statistical release on Indonesia’s economic growth in 2025. The results show that Indonesia’s economy experienced a strong recovery at the beginning of the observation period. Economic growth increased from 3.70 percent in 2021 to 5.31 percent in 2022. Subsequently, growth slowed to 5.05 percent in 2023 and 5.03 percent in 2024 before increasing again to 5.11 percent in 2025. Therefore, during 2021–2025, Indonesia’s economy demonstrated relatively stable growth around 5 percent after the post-pandemic recovery phase. In 2025, economic growth was primarily supported by exports of goods and services, which grew by 7.03 percent, transportation and warehousing by 8.78 percent, other services by 9.93 percent, and manufacturing by 5.30 percent. From the expenditure perspective, household consumption remained the largest component, accounting for 53.88 percent of GDP, while exports recorded the highest growth at 7.03 percent. These findings indicate that Indonesia’s economic resilience during the study period was supported by a combination of domestic consumption, investment, industrial activity, and stronger exports.
