Abstract

A fuel is a compound that contains hydrocarbon elements. Pertalite is a fuel quality that has an Octane Research Number 90. LPG is made from petroleum gas material formed from Propane and Butane. The water pump drive engine is a pertalite-fueled internal combustion motor but may replace with LPG. The main reason is the cheap purchase price. Using LPG gas as a substitute for pertalite fuel is interesting research that will be conducted to conduct experiments testing pertalite fuel consumption with LPG gas. The results obtained in this study, namely using rice field water pumps with LPG gas fuel, resulted in lower consumption than pertalite fuel by 32% when without load and 28% when with the load.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of a centrifugal blower in a Turbo Chopper for Rice Straw as Ruminant Livestock Feed. Conducted over six months at a machine production workshop in Medan Perjuangan, the research employed a qualitative method. The focus was on the blower's impeller, a critical component for increasing air pressure. Tests were performed on impellers with varying numbers of blades (4, 6, and 8) at a constant speed of 1400 rpm. The results showed that the impeller with 4 blades produced the highest wind speed of 4.8 m/s and the greatest efficiency of 0.029%. The study also included an analysis of the blower's torque, flow capacity, and efficiency. These findings are significant for industrial applications, particularly in the process of chopping rice straw, where the centrifugal blower can enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. This study provides insights into the use of centrifugal blowers to improve the performance of agricultural equipment and potential applications in other industries.

Abstract

The government has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 or earlier, with one of the steps to reduce emissions being the endorsement of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's General Plan for Electricity Supply (RUPTL) 2021-2030. The RUPTL stipulates that more than half, 51.6% or equivalent to 20.9 Giga Watt (GW), will come from renewable energy sources rather than fossil fuels. The potential of renewable energy, such as mini hydro power plants, is the focus of this effort. Indonesia has great potential in New Renewable Energy (NRE), including 450 MW of mini/micro hydro, with North Maluku alone having a possibility of 145.1 MW. One of the strategic issues at the national level is energy security, particularly in the North Maluku River Basin. The North Halmahera River Basin, which covers West Halmahera Regency, North Halmahera Regency, and Morotai Island Regency, is the primary focus in exploring the potential of micro hydropower plants. To fully utilise the potential of renewable energy and address the strategic issue of energy security, research needs to be conducted on the planning of MHP in Goal Village, with a case study on Akelamo River. The results of the research and analysis show that the water discharge reaches 7.86 m3/det with a head of 16 metres. The potential power that can be generated using Kaplan turbines is 817.21 kW. These steps can serve as a foundation for implementing sustainable MHP development projects. They can contribute significantly to the achievement of net zero emission targets that the government has promised.
