Abstract

For a long time, the study of the Qur'an and Hadith in Indonesia has proceeded along separate epistemological tracks: 'Ulum al-Qur'an has built its own methodological apparatus through the discipline of tafsir, while 'Ulum al-Hadith has independently developed the science of isnad and matn criticism. This article examines the epistemological foundations for integrating the study of the Qur'an and Hadith, formulates an integrative-interconnective methodological framework, and tests its relevance to contemporary issues such as religious radicalism, gender equality, and environmental ethics. This study employs a qualitative library research method, drawing on a philosophical-epistemological approach and content analysis of primary and secondary literature. The findings show that the epistemological integration of Qur'anic and Hadith studies can be built upon three pillars: the ontological unity of revelation (nas), the methodological interconnection between the sciences of tafsir and hadith, and an axiological orientation toward maqasid al-shari'ah. The integration-interconnection model proposed by Amin Abdullah, combined with Fazlur Rahman's double-movement approach and contextual hermeneutics, proves relevant for addressing contemporary problems because it allows the Qur'an and Hadith to be read simultaneously rather than in an atomistic and partial manner. This article recommends that Islamic studies curricula at religious higher education institutions integrate the courses of Qur'anic Sciences and Hadith Sciences within a single, coherent epistemological framework.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and work stress among Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel who wished to transfer to general-duty police positions. The study employed a quantitative, nonexperimental approach using simple linear regression analysis. The participants were 100 members of the North Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Satbrimob Polda Sumut), selected through purposive sampling based on the criteria of being 20–40 years old and holding ranks from Second Police Brigadier (Bripda) to First Police Inspector Assistant (Aiptu). Data were collected using a 10-item Self-Efficacy Scale and a 47-item Work Stress Scale. Reliability testing indicated adequate internal consistency for both instruments, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.740 for self-efficacy and 0.930 for work stress. Regression analysis showed that self-efficacy was negatively and significantly associated with work stress, with a regression coefficient of B = −0.618, β = −0.431, t = −4.727, and p < 0.001. Descriptively, respondents’ self-efficacy was categorized as high (M = 33.08; SD = 3.158), while work stress was also categorized as high (M = 154.26; SD = 7.385). These findings indicate that Brimob personnel with higher self-efficacy tended to experience lower levels of work stress. Nevertheless, the high level of work stress among respondents suggests that stress among Brimob personnel may be associated not only with personal resources but also with operational and organizational factors. The study underscores the importance of strengthening self-efficacy as one psychological resource for managing work stress, accompanied by organizational efforts to manage job demands and psychosocial risks.
