Abstract

This research aims to describe the significant relationship between appreciative reading skills and the ability to write short stories for seventh grade students of junior high school. This type of research is quantitative research with correlational methods. The data obtained in this study were in the form of scores on the results of measurements on appreciative reading skills and scores on the results of measurements on students' ability to write short story texts. The populations in this study were all class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang, totaling 254 students. The sampling technique used is a simple random technique. In this study, class VII C was chosen as the research sample because this class is a normal and homogeneous class. The numbers of samples in this study were 30 students. The data in this study were analyzed using a simple correlation test intended to test the research hypothesis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between appreciative reading skills and the ability to write short stories for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Padang. This can be seen from the results of tcount>ttable or 5.49>1.70.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the form of assertive and directive speech in the novel "Tak Putus Dirundung Malang" by S. Destiny Alisjahbana, as well as to understand the meaning of each speech in the form of writing, especially in novels. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. This research data is the speech of the characters in the novel "Tak Putus Dirundung Malang" by S. Destiny Alisjahbana. Then the collected data is analyzed based on the theoretical studies that have been obtained. From the results of the analysis, seven forms of assertive speech acts and seven forms of directive speech acts were obtained. Forms of assertive speech acts that have been found, namely assertive speech acts stating (8 quotes), bragging (3 quotes), complaining (7 quotes), expressing (8 quotes), expressing opinions (12 quotes), mentioning (2 quotes), and reporting (4 quotes). The forms of directive speech acts found, namely prohibitive directive speech acts (17 citations), commanding (20 citations), begging (4 citations), demanding (4 citations), advising (13 citations), advising (13 citations), suggesting (21 citations), and opposing (3 citations). So, it can be concluded that this novel contains many directive speech acts, especially in the form of speech that has the intention of suggesting and commanding.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the nature and character of the Holy Prophetsa as narrated in the series Children's Books Exemplifying the Nature and Character of the Prophet published by Ziyadbooks. This research method is carried out with a qualitative approach by applying the content analysis method. The results of the analysis show that to achieve the purpose of conveying the nature and character of the Holy Prophetsa to children, the narrative used in this book is in the form of short and simple sentences. The form of narration used to explain the nature and character of the Holy Prophet in this book is in the form of descriptive and dialogue. Based on this, it can be concluded that the age and cognitive development of children as readers are the main considerations in the selection of vocabulary and sentence construction used in this book.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of project-based learning of Indonesian Literary History during the pandemic. This study uses quantitative-experimental research methods to be able to explore how effective this method is if implemented within the scope of learning. This method provides opportunities for lecturers to manage learning in class by involving project work. In this course, there are three work projects applied, namely: (1) students make infographics in groups which will be presented every meeting; (2) students make a book chapter which will later at the end of the semester be made into a book; and finally (3) students make a scientific publication in the form of journal articles which later must be submitted to national journals. The object of this research is a 2nd semester student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta. So, it can be concluded that the project method applied in learning literary history in the Modern Indonesian Literature History course Semester 2 of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta is an effective learning method applied during a pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the poetry writing skills of grade X students. MA Darul Hikmah Temon Sawoo Ponorogo by utilizing brainwriting techniques and contextual approaches. Research data collection was carried out by interviews, observations, and tests. The data analysis method of this study is comparative descriptive analysis. Triangulation of data collection methods is the data validity technique used. Accuracy of theme and meaning, style, diction, and rhyme. All four aspects of poetry writing showed improved results. The grade point average before the study was 68, meeting the minimum completeness requirement of 75. The average value in cycle I is 75. A total of 15 students or 56% have met the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). However, it has not met the target of 75% of students or 19 students scoring above KKM, so the percentage does not meet the achievement indicators. The average score of writing student poetry increased to 84% in Cycle II. Eighty-four percent of the 26 students had achieved minimum mastery scores. It can be concluded that the goal of achieving a minimum completion score of 75% of students can be achieved. As a result, Class X students of MA Darul Hikmah Temon Sawoo Ponorogo can improve their poetry writing skills by utilizing brainwriting strategies and Contextual Approaches.
