Abstract

Hardenability is the ability of a material to be hardened to a certain depth by means of heat treatment to form martensite in the cooling process to achieve a certain hardness. One of the hardenability testing methods is the Jominy Test. The specimen is heated at the specified temperature, then cooled by spraying water at one end. After testing with the Jominy test apparatus, its hardness was measured using the hardness test equipment. The testing of Jominy is based on ASTM standard A255. Testing using specimens with a length of 100 mm, diameter 25.4 mm as much as 9 pieces. Hardness is measured by the Rockwell Hardness Test method. The test result on specimen 1 with a final temperature of 700 °c resulted in an average hardness value of 45.51 HRB, on specimen 9 with a final temperature of 1100 °c amounting to 47.32 HRB.

Abstract

Low carbon steel has a wide use in the construction sector and is classified into steel that can be processed by machinery (machinery steel). The salient disadvantage of this material is the type of failure in the form of chipping, and breaking. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of belian and acacia wood charcoal on low carbon steel. This solid carburizing process uses a mixture of belian wood charcoal with calcium carbonate and acacia wood charcoal with calcium carbonate, and heattreatment at a temperature of 900oC, holding time of 30 minutes followed by quenching, with the Rockwell hardness test method. The test results show that the hardness of carbon steel that undergoes treatment is higher when compared to raw material of low carbon steel 50.34HRB, where carburizing with acacia wood charcoal 50.5HRB with a lower value when compared to belian wood charcoal 50.94HRB

Abstract

PT. DLH Sukoharjo is a textile industry which is engaged in weaving. Observations were made on the Sucker Muller machine which often experienced jams on the cilynder drier, fan, beam stand and bearings and when the beam rotated it could not maximize production results. especially in the Weaving I section in the Sizing section. The problem that often occurs is the inefficient way of maintaining the sizing machine by the factory, which causes delays in the amount of production. In solving the problem, it is done by treating the muller sucker machine. The preventive maintenance method used for maintenance and repair as well as damage prevention. Based on the analysis, it was found that the Mean Time To Failure (M'I'I'F) of the Sucker Muller engine components was 6.63 hours and the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) value was 573,531 hours.

Abstract

Energy is the initial driving source in the automotive field. Where in the automotive world there is renewable energy such as hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas is a gas-shaped fuel that has the characteristics of colorless, tasteless, and odorless. Hydrogen gas can be produced by electrolysis of water (H2O). Where the electrolyte solution will be reacted using an electric current to produce hydrogen (H2) gas and oxygen gas (O). This study uses experimental research methods to determine the effect of variations in the number of electrode plates on the electrolizer on the volume and rate of HHO gas production using a measuring cup. The results showed that the effect of the variation in the number of electrode plates on the electrolyzer to the highest HHO gas volume occurred in the variation of 14 electrode plates with an increase of 33%.

Abstract

This gas comes from the mixing of liquid waste oil and cow dung. Making biogas from waste oil, especially oil and cow effluent has the potential as an environmentally friendly alternative energy, because in addition to utilizing waste oil and cattle, the rest of the biogas production in the form of slurry can be used as organic fertilizer rich in elements which are needed by plants. biogas very much. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mixing liquid waste oil and cow dung on the length of time the process of biogas and the color of the flame. Testing of this study using a gouge and medium pressure gas stove. In the biogas test results on day 10 but not significant, after day 15 to 20 days there was an increase in the reaction to the occurrence of biogas.

Abstract

Human needs are increasing in the world of transportation, especially for two-wheeled vehicles or more. In the automotive world, especially cars, there are various kinds of systems that work. These systems work in conjunction with one another so that if one of these systems is damaged, the car will be damaged. such as damage to the cooling system which can cause overheating of the engine. Overheating is the occurrence of excessive heat above the engine's working temperature which is caused by damage to one of the components of the cooling system. The occurrence of overheating in the Hilux double cabin car engine is caused by a lack of coolant, the thermostat is not functioning properly, the radiator cap is leaking, the inlet and outlet hoses are cracked and the water pump is damaged. To avoid damage, preventive maintenance must be carried out.
