Abstract

This paper aimed giving information about the development of zakat in Muara Teweh, Barito Utara, Kalimantan Tengah. This paper focused on potrait of zakat management and understanding in Muara Teweh. This paper aimed to describe the potrait development of zakat in Muara Teweh, from the organizations, mustahik, and muzakki than related issues. Method used including observation and documentation through development of zakat in Muara Teweh. The result indicates zakat have applied in Muara Teweh moderately. The issues related to zakat there are zakat activities only really seen when Ramadhan comes, due to the obligation of zakat fitrah for every capable moeslem. The understanding about zakat except zakat fitrah still lack. This impact bought by the mindset of mayority of citizents spending zakat maal as the same time in spending zakat fitrah in Ramadhan month not based on haul and nishab. The minimum amount of socialization and education brough the situation muzakki have a low awareness about zakat and preffer to spend zakat directly to mustahik. Even the zakat management of zakat organizations is still lacking, low awareness and knowledge of muzakki about zakat except zakat fitrah and the mayority of muzakki preffer to spend zakat directly to mustahik but there are activities of zakat seen on Ramadhan month include appealing from Religious Ministry Barito Utara related submission zakat, infaq and sadaqah through Baznas, circulars amount of zakat fitrah and zakat maal, and delivering food packages to mustahik.

Abstract

Uncertainty was not only found in conventional banks but also in Islamic banks. Financing risks in Islamic banks can occur because Islamic banks have made some modifications to sharia contracts used for financing to adjust general business of banks environments. Thus Islamic banks, like conventional ones, face risks and business issues. This study discusses how risk management at Bank Islam poses a risk to financial difficulties probability. This study will explain that Islamic banks should establish a risk management system by its functionality and complexity of the banks, and the system provides bank's risk management organization that suits with sharia principle to at least be able to avoid financial distress conditions.

Abstract

Fundamentally, Islam is a religion which perfectly encompasses all aspects of human life. Wealth in the Islamic economic system has an important position. In its relation to the economic business activities and the rituals of worship, the wealth is given close attention so that in the maqashid al-sharia makes it into one of the essential points, which is to maintain or protect the wealth. These are Allah’s purpose and aim in order to bring benefits to people and serve as a guide in doing business and transaction in accordance to sharia. The use of wealth in Islamic teaching should always be in dedication to Allah and utilized in order to taqarrub (draw yourself closer) to Allah. The personal wealth must be utilized not only for the owners’ private use, but also for social function in order to help fellow human beings. Islam has given special attention to wealth, on how to both get and utilize it, so that the wealth owned has the values of worship on Allah’s side in the pursuit of happier life in the hereafter.

Abstract

Electronic money emerges as micro payment instrument in which it enables faster, easier, safer and more efficient payment process. Even though it offers many advantages, its appropriateness to maqasid al-sharia needs to be further disucssed. Thus, it is very imporant to judge whether e-money has been in line with Islamic values or not. The method used in this research was qualitative method in which literature studies were performed. The result generally suggested that e-money had not violated maqasid al-sharia. This congruity was taken as it did not contravene the principles of wealth management and usefulness in Islam. However, unregistered e-money was judged not in line with maqasid al-sharia because it might create disadvantages when it was stolen or lost. It was due to the fact that unregistered e-money was not equipped with password. Thus, the use of unregistered e-money should be better avoided.

Abstract

Poor people in Indonesia are mostly found in village region. 63% of the total poor people in Indonesia and majority of village people work as a farmer. The role of Islamic Microfinance Institution such as Islamic Cooperative is to increase the farmers income who has been the member of its cooperative. The purposes of the research are to analyze the difference of farmers’ income before and after applying the equity-based financing to islamic microfinance institution by using Paired T Test, and analyze which factors were affecting the farmers’ income in case study of farmers as the member of Islamic Cooperative Al-Ittifaq and used Ordinary Least Square method. The result shows that Islamic microfinance program signifcantly and positively affect the farmers income. The variables that significantly affect the income are size of financing taken by respondents, duration of membership, distance between farmer’s house and cooperative, and background of farmers’ education.

Abstract

The general objectives of Allah the Merciful and the Compassionate to make law is to accomplish human welfare by ensuring the values of dharuriyah (the essential), as well as hajiyyah (the complementary) and tahsiniyyah (the desirable). Besides protecting assets and properties, one of the advantages in the implementation of wadiah is fulfilling humans’ needs as well as eliminating their distress. Wadiah is considered a trust, in which it will change into a priority once it has been deposited. In the midst of its development, wadiah is not only practiced between individuals, but also institutions, including banking institutions. Unlike the meaning of wadiah in terms of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), wadiah in banking is considered as debts based on the interpretation of a number of contemporary Islamic jurists. This is due to the utilization of the fund by banking institutions. Furthermore, the institutions are also responsible for the loss of financial deposit, whether it is due to intentional aspects or not, as well as whether the financial deposit is intentionally lost or not. Moreover, the sole purpose and significance become the emphasis rather than its meaning (lafadz) in the process of its covenant.

Abstract

This study is aimed to investigate the efficiency level of national organization of Zakat management (OPZ) in 2013 by applying Data envelopment analysis method and intermediation as well as production approach. The result shows that national zakat organizations management,  Badan Amil Zakat Nasional, Dompet Dhuafa, Laziz Nahdlatul Ulama, and Pos Keadilan Peduli Ummat (PKPU), have efficient performance based on the efficiency measurement. Baznas and Dompet Dhuafa, based on the production approach measurement, showing an inefficiency in term of operational cost variable, personnel cost, ziswaf socialization cost, and the distributed ziswaf fund.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze consumption behavior of students of Department of Islamic Economics of University of Islam Indonesia, particularly class of 2012, whether it is in accordance with the Islamic perspective or not and how the students’ social environment does affect the consumer behavior. This study applies descriptive quantitative analysis which is done by choosing 50 respondents aged between 20-24 year old as sample based on Purposive Sampling method. The writer also uses questionnaires in gathering the data and double linear analysis technique in processing the data. In this study, the writer finds that the consumer behavior of the Ekis FIAI UII students, particularly class of 2012, has actually been in accordance with the principle of aqidah, amaliyah, and spirituality, even though it has not yet represented the simple and modest principle. According to ‘t’ test, it shows that the adherent group variable has no significant influence to the Islamic consumer behavior of the 2012 Ekis students since the value of ‘t’ is smaller than the table of ‘t’, which is 0.728 < 2.011. The value of ‘t’ of the family variable is about 2.506, meaning that family has significant impact towards Islamic consumer behavior. From the independent variables, it is found that the adherent and family variable do not significantly influence the Islamic consumer behavior. The adjusted R square is 0,133, meaning that 13,3% of the Islamic consumer behavior of 2012 Ekis students is affected by family.

Abstract

This article analyses financial planning for students who studying Islamic economic two universities in Yogyakarta, that is UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Universitas Islam Indonesia. This study is conducted by convenience sampling on 30 samples of each group.  The questionnaire is then distributed to collect data related to financial planning, knowledge, and control. The results show that 60 respondents (53% men) generally had low Islamic financial planning. Statistically there is no difference between the two groups of samples. In addition, this study also shows that financial knowledge variables statistically affect the financial planning of the students, while the control variables do not significantly influence it. However, both variables, the variable knowledge and control variables, significantly affect financial planning.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyse the Islamic business ethics and how it affects the companies. The subject of the study is a home industry which process the milkfish in Pemalang, Central Java. The Islamic business ethics used are based on the five axioms, they are tawhid, balance, free desire, charity and responsibility. While the effects are measured by the six business progress parameters, they are marketing aspect, management aspect, human resources aspect, law aspect, social aspect, environment effect aspect and financial aspect. The data collection of the study is done by the qualitative descriptive approach. The result of the study shows that generally the company has applied the Islamic business ethics based on the referred five axioms. Besides, the Islamic business ethics application on the company also has effects on the six aspects of the company business progress.
