Abstract

This article observes that everyone has the freedom to convey the message of freedom of religion and belief in the digital age. Not only through writing, everyone is also allowed to convey it in various ways. One of the interesting things for Indonesian people is through a movie. Through film, people will more easily accept the message of religious freedom than through writing. Many films about religious freedom have been shown in cinemas, one of which is a film entitled The Earth is Spherical. The film Bumi tu Bulat produced by Robert Ronny tells the story of the journey of the Rujak Accappella group. In the film Bumi, Bulat tells a lot about the religious problems faced by Indonesian society. About religious harmony that was later introduced by many radical beliefs and caused religious problems that later arose. Through the figure of Aisha, this film shows what religious life is like in Indonesia. Aisha is a singing artist who stopped singing due to migration. Then meet the members of Rujak Accappella whose members consist of various religions. In this study, the writer uses a qualitative approach using Teun A Van Dijk's discourse analysis theory. The writer tries to see three important components in the movie Bumi tu Bulat. That is text analysis, social cognition and social context contained in the film The Earth is Round. The filmmaker's global analysis in the film "Earth Is Round" conveys his message about the existence of the problem of religious intolerance in Indonesia. The writer found that the scenario of the movie "Earth Is Round" contains information related to facts, has an element of coherence in it, so that the sentence forms discourse and meaning. The presentation of words and sentences in the movie "Earth Is Round" displays a style of language that is easy to catch, understand and understand. Discourse analysis also provides information that the movie "Earth Is Round" describes the situation and the state of religion in Indonesia which is experiencing a crisis of tolerance. Abstract

This research discusses the issue of conflict in the film The Batman 2022. This film tells about someone who calls himself The Riddler who has killed several Gotham city officials and uncovers the dark side of them all which causes conflicts with several parties. Conflict is disagreement between several parties due to differences of opinion. This study aimsto describe the types of conflicts described by criminals, as well as to find out what impacts occur. Therefore, the researcher used a sociological approach. Researchers also use two theories, namely the theory of Nina Genneby and Ruben Markosyan, and the theory of Kun Maryati and Juju Suryawati. In addition, researchers used descriptive qualitative research methods to analyze this film. The results of this study are two types of conflict, interpersonal conflict and inter-group conflict. The seven positive impacts are: increased internal solidarity, lead to an interestingrelationships between groups, arouse citizens who are passively, emergence of strong individuals, directing innovation, as a means of evaluation, and new compromises. Then there are four negative impacts, namely: breaking of relationships between individuals and group unity, damage to property and loss of human life, changes in individual personality, and the last is the domination of the winning group.

Abstract

This paper provides an explanation about the phenomena of religious moderation in social media. There is a tendency of new trend in religious phenomena amongst Indonesian millennial generation in this disruptive era. They are showing an interest on learn more about religion virtually. The easiness in accessing information is in a perfect proportion with the convenience of the information provider to share various kind of information, such as a religious content shared by ulama, or commonly known as dakwah. The approach of this paper is inclusivism theory on religious moderation. Religious moderation is considered as a relevant effort to cope with various kind of religious literacy on both sides, the preacher and the people, or internet user. The attempt on familiarization of the religious motion and naration can be done trough an inclusive dakwah. The result shows that there is a conceptional connection between virtual dakwah and religious moderation. There is also a diret connection between Virtual dakwah through social media and the spirit of inclusivism, that later become the main support of religious moderation. The attempt on familiarization of the religious motion and naration can also be done by religious figures and leaders with the messages of inclusivsm through virtual dakwah.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the evolution of modes of religious expression in films and understand how urban Muslim communities are represented through religious modes in cinematic works. This research involves the analysis of film as a form of cultural and religious representation, particularly in Muslim urban environments. Through an examination of films representing various time periods, this research will trace the development of religious fashion in Muslim urban contexts. Several approaches are found in looking at the modes of religious expression of Muslim communities in films, namely traditional, contemporary, critical and inclusive modes. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a deeper understanding of the role of film as a medium for religious expression and how the evolution of religious fashion reflects the dynamics of urban Muslim society. In addition, analysis using four different approaches is expected to provide comprehensive and contextual insight into the complexity of religious expression in urban cinematic contexts.

Abstract

This article explores the dynamics of modernity through two main focuses, first, in the context of social interaction in the transformation of modernity, where social change is studied through shifts in relationships between individuals in the contemporary era. Through film analysis, this article investigates how social interaction is a key driver of change, shaping the new face of modern society. The second focus is the role of film as an educational medium, illustrating film's ability to convey the values of modernity in a deep and interesting way. By showing not only visuals of these changes, but also through complex narratives, films are able to stimulate critical thinking and form more diverse perspectives. Overall, this article provides a holistic insight into how modernity can be taught and absorbed in society, by involving changes in social interactions and the crucial role of film as an effective educational medium.

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of visual representation in films with a study focus on symbolic violence. This article uses literature study to show a comprehensive picture regarding visual representation and symbolic violence in films. This article finds first, symbolic violence and visual media shows the impact of visual media, such as television and film, in shaping people's perceptions of violence and how it can be represented symbolically. Second, symbolism in films as a tool to provide a deeper dimension to the story. Symbolism in film is explored as a secret language that enriches the cinematic experience, shapes character, and opens the door to diverse interpretations. Overall this study emphasizes the importance of understanding and critical analysis of visual representations in the media, as well as exploring the diversity of meanings through symbolism in films. Thus, analysis of film visual representations provides broad insight into the study of symbolic violence and symbolism in the cinematic world.

Abstract

This article attempts to look at the acute phenomenon of the social media generation with its activities and images in cyberspace. The film entitled "Semu" as a short film is able to depict the self-image of a teenager on social media nicely. A common social context in modern times where many people are accustomed to using smartphones and social media as part of their daily routine. On the other hand, the film Semu depicts that existence on social media is often important for individuals who want to portray a different image of themselves than they really are. This article finds that content and activities on social media are the main elements in shaping the online existence of a person or entity on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other media. So falsehood on social media is a phenomenon where individuals or entities present information, images or identities that are inaccurate or do not correspond to reality via social media platforms. In this context, dramaturgy refers to theoretical analysis used in theater and performance studies to understand and dismantle false identities in cyberspace. The impact is that the public does not trust someone's activities on social media. Photos and videos can easily be used to manipulate netizens, their dismantling results in distrust of the images and content that someone continues to produce.

Abstract

This research attempts to look at the Islamic side in horror films which are often misused, including in the film entitled Qodrat. The film Qodrat is a horror film that tells the story of the rukiah ability of a ustadz in eliminating irregularities by a ustadz in a village. This research was conducted using a content analysis approach. Look directly at the text in the Qodrat film to obtain relevant data. The results of this research show that Islam in the film Qodrat is represented by two characters or actors, namely a cleric named Jakfar who deviates from Islamic teachings and a cleric named Qodrat who firmly stands on Islamic teachings. Jakfar is a deviant from Islamic teachings behind religious clothes, Islamic boarding schools and the label of ustadz to take material advantage by making alliances with jinns to possess village residents. He received compensation that a cleric should not receive in curing people from being possessed by jinns and demons through rukiah. On the other hand, Qodrat is a religious figure who upholds Islamic beliefs in living his life and is not thirsty for material things. He believes that rukiyah is charity and it is their duty as religious leaders and is given the advantage of expelling jinn from the human body (rukiah).

Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the potential of a tolerance message campaign through the medium of film as a tool to disseminate the spirit of peace. Involves analysis of films that carry the theme of tolerance and the messages conveyed to stimulate critical thinking and imbibe the values of tolerance in society. This research method includes literature study, using existing literature to collect data comprehensively. The research results show that films have great potential to be agents of social change by facilitating a deeper understanding of diversity and encouraging inclusive attitudes towards differences. Films not only function as entertainment, but also as an effective instrument in shaping people's views on tolerance issues. This in-depth analysis contributes to the literature on social media and tolerance, revealing that tolerance message campaigns in films are not only relevant, but also crucial in facing complex challenges in the contemporary era.

Abstract

Islamic content has emerged on television media, appearing in the form of news, films, soap operas, talk shows, reality shows and so on. This is called the phenomenon of Islamic commodification, which is increasing in television media nowadays. This study attempts to see what is hidden behind the scenes in the process of presenting various popular cultural products with an Islamic image. Why is Islamic content on television media increasing? Was the action aimed at spiritual values or because of economic interests? Television products with religious content are the result of market intervention. The reason is, television is an industrial media with economic interests. As a media industry, television requires capital to develop its existence. In addition, media is developing into a capital-intensive aspect. Islamic content is produced to create audience loyalty, so that it can get good ratings. Meanwhile, audience is percentage data that is valuable to offer to advertisers. Islamic content is selected and produced to meet the tastes and appeal of the audience. Islam in broadcast media becomes a commercial object.
