Abstract

This objectives of this study are to classify the types of translation techniques from Movie Five Feet Apart and how the translator applied those techniques into target language. This research is descriptive qualitative method.Researchers chose Movie Five Feet Apart because this movie was liked by many teenagers and made researchers want to analyze it. This movie is taken from the true story of a novel, where the two teenagers like each other but are blocked fivefeet because of cystic fibrosis. In data collection, the researcher analyzed by watching the film repeatedly to get an understanding of this movie, in order to getthe information needed in form of the application of those techniques into target language.The data which was found analyzed with the following steps:managedata, select movies, read scripts and watch movies, analyze Five Feet Apartmovies. The results of this study indicate that first, based on my analysis theresearcher found 464 dialogues of Movie Five Feet apart that contains 12 types of translation technique.The percentage of each translation technique was found as follows: (1).Adaptation occurred 4 (0.59%), (2). Amplification occurred 15 (3.31%), (3).Borrowing occurred 132 (19.7%), (4). Calque occurs 3 (0.45%), (5). Discursive Creation occurred 4 (0.59%), (6). Established Equivalent occurred 93 (13.86%),(7). Generalization occurred 6 (1.32%), (8). Linguistic Compression occurs 3(0.45%), (9). Literal Translation occurred 119 (17.73%), (10). Particularization occurred 15 (3.31%), (11). Reduction occurred 35 (7.52%), (12). Transposition occurred 34 (5.22%).

Abstract

This research deals with the study of semiotics analysis on the song lyrics of Bron This Way by Lady Gaga. This study mainly aims to investigate several things as follows: first, to investigate the denotative meaning, connotative meaning and myth meaning contained in the song lyrics, second was to investigate how the realization of the semiotic meaning in the lyrics of the song Born This Way. The research was applied descriptive qualitative method. The research data was in the form of the written text or transcript of the song lyrics. There are 16 signs collected that were analyzed through the application of Miles and Huberman's theory where data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification were carried out significantly. The results of the data analysis shown that the song lyrics have denotation, connotation meaning, and myth meaning. After getting the semiotic term in the lyrics of the song Born This Way, which at first conveyed a very familiar motivational message because in it there was a defense of minority groups who were victims of discrimination. In general, the meaning of the lyrics of the song Born This Way contains a human being who must accept the situation as it is and love himself even though the person deviates from the prevailing norms in society without changing himself to be better. There were 3 semiotic terms which were manifested in the lyrics of the song Born This Way, namely: divinity, sincerity, simplicity.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the levels of cognitive and their realization processes on writing tasks in the English textbook for Senior High School Grade XII based on revised version of Blooms Taxonomy. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. To collect the data, this research applied documentation technique. There were eighty writing tasks obtained from the English textbook published by Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan, Balitbang, Kemdikbud. Those data were analyzed by applying Miles and Hubermanns (1994) analysis model including data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The research finding showed that the six levels of cognitive domain as proposed by Anderson and Kratwohl (2001) were realized on writing tasks in the English textbook published by Pusat Kurikulum dan Perbukuan, Balitbang, Kemdikbud. It was also found that the four types of writing tasks as proposed by Brown (2004) namely imitative, intensive, responsive and extensive were applied. So, it was concluded that the six levels of cognitive domains and the four types of writing tasks were realized totally in the English textbook.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai edukatif dan peran perempuan novel Islammu adalah Maharku karya Ario Muhammad. Sumber data penelitian adalah novel Islammu adalah Maharku karya Ario Muhammad yang berjumlah 344 halaman yang diterbitkan oleh penerbit NEA Publishing, cetakan kedua Desember 2018. Data penelitian ini adalah nilai edukatif yang meliputi nilai keimanan dan ketakwaan serta kejujuran dan peran perempuan yang meliputi peran sebagai anak. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian dilakukan dengan pedoman dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah membaca berulang-ulang novel, menghayati, memahami, mengumpulkan data, menggarisbawahi, mendeskripsikan dan menyimpulkan hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapatnya nilai-nilai edukatif yang meliputi nilai keimanan dan ketakwaan serta kejujuran dan peran perempuan yang meliputi peran sebagai anak dalam novel Islammu adalah Maharku karya Ario Muhammad.Kata kunci: Novel Islammu adalah Maharku, Nilai Edukatif, Peran Perempuan

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to identify the types of grammatical and lexical cohesive devices used in The Lion King Movie Script, to describe the grammatical and lexical cohesion devices used in The Lion King Movie Script and to investigate the grammatical and lexical cohesion devices used in The Lion King Movie Script. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to obtain the objectives of the research. The data of this research was grammatical and lexical cohesion while the data source of this research was script of The Lion King Movie. The results in this research were found 312 ties of grammatical cohesive devices and 196 lexical cohesive devices used in the script. The realization of cohesive devices used in The Lion King Movie script was semantic concept between lexical and grammatical cohesion devices, this referred to the relationship meaning that exists within or outside the text. The most types of grammatical cohesion used werepersonal reference and demonstrative reference because they used to refer something which was mentioned elsewhere in the script. Meanwhile, clausal substitution as only type of grammatical cohesion didnt occur in the whole scene. The most types of lexical used were repetition because they used to rewrite an item in preceding element with the same form to following element. Finally, the findings showed almost all types of lexical and grammatical cohesion contained reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, repetition, synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, meronymy, and collocation contained in The Lion King Movie script.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar elektronik modul (e-modul) matematika berbasis aplikasi flip book pdf corporate edition melalui scan qr digital untuk siswa SMP kelas VIII dan untuk mengetahui kelayakan hasil pengembangan bahan ajar elektronik modul (e-modul) matematika berbasis aplikasi flip book pdf corporate edition melalui scan qr digital di SMP kelas VIII berdasarkan penilaiaan ahli materi, ahli media dan respon siswa. Sampel pada penelitian ini ialah siswa SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan kelas VIII yang berjumlah 10 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and development). Model pengembangan pada penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE yang telah dimodifikasi menjadi 3 tahap, yaitu Analisis (Analysis), Perancangan (Desaign), dan Pengembangan (Development). Instrument penelitian yang digunakan yaitu validasi ahli materi dan validasi ahli media. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara dan angket. Hasil penelitian ini berupa bahan ajar elektronik modul (e-modul) matematika berbasis aplikasi flip book pdf corporate edition melalui scan qr digital yang layak digunakan. Kelayakan diperoleh dari validasi ahli materi dan validasi ahli media menyatakan layak dengan skor rata - rata penilaian ahli materi 3,6 dan skor rata – rata penilaian ahli media 3,6. Respon siswa terhadap bahan ajar yang dikembangkan memiliki skor rata – rata penilaian 3,6. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar elektronik modul (e-modul) matematika berbasis aplikasi flip book pdf corporate edition melalui scan qr digital untuk siswa SMP kelas VIII layak digunakan sebagai bahan ajar dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study deals with the analysis of Persuasive Strategies Used in SloganWoman Cosmetics Wardah Advertisement on Instagram. Wardah is the onefamous brand of the beauty from local brand and also every woman use theproduct of Wardah. It is be a reason why the researcher use a Wardah as anobject in the product can be the research. Wardah product has a several sloganin to advertising their product. The objectives of this research is to identify thekinds of persuasive strategies and describe the way or modes persuasivestrategy used in slogan advertisement of Wardah Cosmetics. Qualitativeresearch is applied to analyze the data. That the qualitative research is focusedon analyzing the data in the form of words, and not about numerical data. Theresearcher is used 14 slogan advertisement on official account Wardah onInstagram. In collecting the data the researcher browsed the sloganadvertisement by search on Wardah official account on Instagram, and then theresearcher chosen the slogan advertisement of Wardah to be analyzed. Thenext, the researcher identified the slogan, understanding what the kinds ofpersuasive strategies used in the slogan and the way or modes to persuadeconsumers. The result of the data analysis show the researcher found andanalyzed. The types of persuasive strategies, there are: rationalization (5 data),identification (7 data), suggestion (11 data), conformity (5 data) andcompensation (3 data). And the way to persuade consumers, those are: ethos (7data), pathos (2 data) and logos (5 data).

Abstract

This research deals with the use of mobile phone in English teaching andlearning process at FKIP UMSU. The objective of this research is to find outstudents perceptions about the use of MobilePhonein English teaching andlearning process and to describe how do students use mobile phone in English teaching and learning process. The research was descriptive qualitative research. The data collected by interviewing 20 students. In this study the researcher collected the data by using interview that consist five question. The findings that students had different perceptions, namely: mobile phone is very help ful in English teaching and learning process, mobile phone is important in English teaching and learning process and mobile phone has advantages and disadvantages. In Englsih teaching and learning process, studentstake advantage of their mobile phone by using several applications, including:Google Translate, WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Gmail, U-Dictionary, Google,Camscanner, Oxford Dictionary of English, English Thesaurus, English Grammar,Irregular and Regular Verb,Offline Dictionary,My Dictionary.
