Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of digitalization and financial inclusion of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as business sustainability strategies. Digital transformation and inclusive financial access are important factors in increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs in the digital economy era. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on MSMEs in the food and beverage sector. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, while data analysis used thematic analysis techniques. The results show that digitalization contributes to improving operational efficiency, expanding market access through digital platforms, and strengthening relationships with customers. On the other hand, financial inclusion facilitates access to formal financial services, such as financing and digital payment systems, thereby supporting more professional business management. The synergy between digitalization and financial inclusion has proven to be able to increase the innovation capacity and productivity of MSMEs, which ultimately encourages business transformation towards a higher scale. However, there are several obstacles faced, such as low digital and financial literacy and limited access to infrastructure. Therefore, support from various parties is needed through training, mentoring, and policies that support the empowerment of MSMEs in a sustainable manner

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of management accounting systems on the performance of culinary MSMEs and test the role of sustainability reporting as a moderation variable. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 100 culinary MSMEs operating in the central area of Makassar City. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM). The results of the study show that the management accounting system does not have a significant effect on business performance. This indicates that most MSMEs still do not make optimal use of accounting information in decision-making. Meanwhile, sustainability reporting has been proven to have a positive and significant influence on business performance. However, sustainability reporting is not able to moderate the relationship between management accounting systems and business performance. These findings show that sustainability practices have a more direct role in improving the performance of MSMEs compared to management accounting systems that have not been implemented effectively. This research contributes to the development of management and sustainability accounting literature, as well as provides practical implications for MSME actors in improving business performance through the integration of information systems and sustainable business practices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of the Entrepreneurship Course (MK) in shaping entrepreneurial character and fostering business interest in STIMI YAPMI Makassar Class of 2023 students in the midst of the challenges of the digital era. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and questionnaires of 30 respondents. The results of the study show that MK Entrepreneurship makes a significant contribution (90%) in increasing self-efficacy and student courage in taking business risks. In the context of interest, as many as 83% of respondents stated that they were interested in building a digital-based business, especially through social commerce platforms and digital resellers. However, the main obstacles found are limited financial capital and the need for technical assistance related to advanced digital marketing. In conclusion, entrepreneurship education at STIMI YAPMI Makassar has succeeded in building a strong character foundation, but it is necessary to strengthen the business incubation aspect so that students' interests can be realized into sustainable business units.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement a sustainability reporting framework for Tulungrejo Village based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. Unlike evaluative studies, this research focuses on designing a village sustainability report that had not previously been available. The research process involved identifying sustainability issues, engaging stakeholders, and conducting a materiality analysis in accordance with GRI 3 to determine relevant topics. The selected material topics were then mapped into GRI 200 (economic), 300 (environmental), and 400 (social) standards, and compiled using the “with reference” approach. The findings indicate that village sustainability reporting can be implemented adaptively by selecting indicators that align with the village’s characteristics and capacity. This study proposes a GRI-based sustainability reporting framework that can serve as a practical guideline for village governments to enhance transparency and accountability in resource management.

Abstract

Banks  are  defined  as financial  intermediaries  that borrow  money  from  surplus  spending units and lend to deficit spending units. During this process, they carry out four basic services: liquidity intermediation, denomination intermediation, risk intermediation, and maturity intermediation. The nature of this intermediation makes banks face many risks, including liquidity risk, operational risk, credit risk, interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk. In this study we attempt to identified the determinants of bank risk in Tunisian context . We measured bank risk with (RWTA. NPL and Zscore). We used a sample of 11 banks quoted in financial market of Tunis for the period ( 2014-2023). By estimation of 3 models with the technique of panel data ,we found that liquidity ; total credit ; return on equity ; size ; capital ; economic growth and inflation have a significant effect on bank risk

Abstract

The rapid proliferation of AI-powered marketing technologies in emerging markets poses a fundamental challenge to culturally-grounded micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs): how can algorithmic imperatives be reconciled with indigenous value systems that define not only business practice but collective identity? Despite growing research on both AI adoption in SMEs and indigenous knowledge preservation, scholarship rarely examines how traditional values actively mediate rather than merely moderate commercial technology adoption. This study addresses that gap by investigating how MSMEs in Makassar City, Indonesia, negotiate AI marketing integration while preserving siri’ na pacce, the Bugis-Makassar philosophical framework centred on dignity (siri’) and solidarity (pacce). Employing interpretive phenomenology integrated with Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), the study conducted 23 in-depth interviews and three focus group discussions with 44 MSME owners and key personnel across traditional culinary, artisan craft, ethnic fashion, and digital service sectors. Template analysis generated four overarching themes: (1) value-based technology discernment, wherein siri’ na pacce operates as an active epistemological filter for evaluating AI tools; (2) strategic selective adoption, wherein enterprises accept algorithmically aligned functions while rejecting culturally incompatible features; (3) cultural indigenization of technology, wherein AI systems are actively reoriented toward communal rather than individualistic ends; and (4) constrained agency under platform power, wherein algorithmic visibility systems penalise cultural non-conformity with market exclusion. These findings challenge technological determinism and advance decolonial computing theory by demonstrating that indigenous values simultaneously enable epistemological agency and are constrained by structural power asymmetries, a duality insufficiently theorised in prior technology adoption frameworks. The study calls for regulatory frameworks establishing indigenous data sovereignty, participatory AI co-design with local communities, and cooperative digital infrastructure as conditions for authentic, rather than performative, cultural integration.

Abstract

This study aims to examine work experience, work environment, and work culture on employee performance, both directly and through work motivation as a mediating variable. This research is based on two main grand theories, namely Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Self-Determination Theory. Quantitative approach with survey method, The research population is all employees of the production division of PT Ekamas Fortuna Malang which totals 332 people. Sampling was carried out using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique with a sample of 179 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling method based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS software. The results of the hypothesis testing showed that all ten hypotheses proposed in this study were proven to be statistically supported. Work experience, work environment, and work culture were each proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation, indicating that these three factors are relevant motivational antecedents in the context of the manufacturing industry and motivation has also been shown to mediate the relationship between these three variables. An important finding of this study is the confirmation of the dual role of work motivation, namely as a variable that directly drives employee performance as well as as a mediator that strengthens and channels the indirect influence of work experience, work environment, and work culture on performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment, organizational culture, and employee engagement on employee performance with Lean Manufacturing as a mediating variable. The research population amounted to 255 employees consisting of various levels of positions, with a sample of 154 respondents selected using proportional sampling techniques in 4 sections/divisions. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results of the study show that the work environment, organizational culture and employee involvement have a positive and significant effect on the implementation of Lean Manufacturing. Lean Manufacturing, work environment, and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, employee involvement does not have a significant effect directly on employee performance. Meanwhile, the indirect influence of the work environment, organizational culture, and employee involvement has a positive and significant effect on employee performance through the mediation of Lean Manufacturing implementation. An important finding of this study is that Lean Manufacturing acts as a full mediator between employee engagement and employee performance. This research provides a theoretical contribution in integrating Socio-Technical Systems Theory (STS) and Social Exchange Theory (SET) in the context of the manufacturing industry in Indonesia, as well as providing practical implications for companies to integrate human factor management with Lean systems synergistically to improve organizational performance in a sustainable manner.
