Abstract

This article discusses methods of translating the Qur'an in the application form, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia. The five applications from each country consist of one official application and four applications that were randomly selected, with a focus on Surah Al-Kafirun, Surah Al-Baqarah: 256, Surah Yunus: 99, and Surah Al-Qashash: 56. To analyze these various applications, this article uses translation methods of harfiyah and tafsiriyah. This article concludes that the Indonesian and Malaysian Qur’an translation applications present a variety of distinctive methods. Although the Indonesian Qur'an translation application is dominated by tafsiriyah translations, still leaves the dominant harfiyah translation found in the Surah Al-Kafirun. This is different from the Malaysian Qur’an translation application where all the verses and surah are translated by the tafsiriyah method. The tafsiriyah translation of the application version in Indonesia tends to be short compared to the tafsiriyah translation of the Malaysian application version which tends to be long. Regarding their understanding, both of them present the issue of religious freedom from different perspectives. Indonesia refers to the issue of freedom for non-Muslims and is general in nature, while Malaysia refers to the issue of freedom of religion for Muslims and is specific to the case of the Prophet Muhammad. Thus, it can be said that the issue of religious freedom in the context of the state today is more visible in the Indonesian version of the Qur'an translation application.

As a contemporary Islamic educational institution, the Madrasa (Islamic boarding school) has transformed into a public school with an Islamic identity. After years of being ignored, the Madrasas of a Muslim minority nation in Nepal, was finally been recognized by Nepal’s government in 2016. This article tends to dig out how the parents, Madrasah organizers, and students are perceiving this kind of inclusive formal education in the Madrasah system of Education. This research is Qualitative. Through the processes of reduction, exhibition, and verification, the information gathered from the observation, interview, and documentation was then examined. The triangulation of the data was then done as well. It produced several discoveries. Research results show that the action has increased Muslims' access to education, it is difficult to guarantee quality education because, according to the Research Centre for Educational Innovation and Development (CERID) 2018 report, the Madrasas lacked the physical infrastructure, teachers qualified to teach subjects in the mainstream, and other elements necessary for high-quality education. Following the government's effort to register madrasas as primary schools, it is now urgently necessary to analyze the effects, new trends, and problems. Conclusion, In order to foster the kids' religious behavior, tolerance, empathy, spiritual and non-spiritual understanding, and literacy skill, this study offers solutions for how to integrate the Madrasa curriculum program with the help of the government and the Ministry of Education.

Abstract

Islamic education has an essential role in shaping religious moderation. However, the increasingly complex challenges of extremism and religious intolerance require a more progressive approach to dealing with them. This research aims to optimize religious moderation through progressive Islamic education and examine the philosophy of Islamic education as a conceptual foundation. This study used a qualitative approach with literature analysis and documentation data collection techniques. The research results show the importance of religious moderation in complex social, political, and cultural contexts. The philosophy of Islamic education provides a solid theoretical and methodological foundation for developing a progressive Islamic education that promotes religious moderation. Ontologically, the understanding of religious moderation emphasizes recognition of the complexity of spiritual reality and the importance of tolerance for different interpretations and practices. In epistemology, a moderate approach recognizes that knowledge about religion is limited and influenced by social and cultural factors. Therefore, critical thinking, interreligious dialogue, and continuous learning are essential in achieving religious moderation. In axiology, religious moderation emphasizes values such as tolerance, mutual respect, peace, justice, and the adaptability of values to the development of society and changing times. In conclusion, optimizing religious moderation through progressive Islamic education based on a study of Islamic educational philosophy encourages a broader understanding and application of religious moderation in society, especially in the context of diverse, multicultural education.
