Abstract

The research in general aimed on analyzing English language errors made by local tourism workers of Jatiluwih tourism destination in Tabanan, Bali, and specifically it aimed in revealing and analyzing types of errors made by the local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination in using English with foreign tourists. The primary research data are directly collected from the English language expressions used by the local tourism workers as informan of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination during their communication activities with the foreign tourists. The data informan are selected using purposive, snowball and abundant sampling techniques with the total number of 30 samples of the local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination in Tabanan, Bali. The collected data are analyzed using Error Analysis Theory proposed by Tarigan (1985) and Ellis (1986) (cited in Tarigan and Tarigan, 2011:63-64). The research reveal that the English language errors committed by local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination i Tabanan, Bali can be categorized into two major errors, which are: (1) errors of linguistic taxonomy category, which consists of two errors types, such as : (a) morphology errors and, (b) syntactic errors; (2) Errors of surface strategy taxonomy.

Abstract

The research aimed at studying and analyzing English language attitude of the local tourism workers at Munggu Tourism Village of Badung Regency Bali. The primary research data are directly collected from the research informan using the non-participatin observation, structured interview processes, and also from the research questionnaire completion. The informan were selected using non-probability sampling technique which are: purposive, snowball, and abundant sampling techniques with the total members of 30 samples are analysed. The research finding showed that 0,88% of the informan showed positive attitude toward English, from the genders point of view, the total numbers of 0,76% and 0,25% showed positive attitude toward English. Based on the tourism jobs the total members of informan showed positive attitude toward English

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the errors of students in understanding the use of Japanese according to the native cultural context of the speakers. The fault findings were analyzed from the point of view of Japanese culture and Indonesian culture. Common student errors include (1) the inappropriate application of ojigi (bowing), (2) the application of doozo speech (please), shitsurei shimasu (excuse me), sumimasen (sorry, excuse me, thank you) (2) MD sentence structure where very different from the Indonesian sentence structure, and several other errors. By looking at these misunderstandings, the understanding of Japanese cultural literacy must be taught to students. Learners must have intercultural competence so that they can communicate according to the culture of the origin of the foreign language. Several ways have been done by lecturers to improve students' cultural literacy towards understanding the use of Japanese. These methods are (1) role-playing with situations in the workplace, (2) watching videos or pictures that show the real life of Japanese people, (3) with students watching Japanese dramas, then discussing the contents of the drama.

Abstract

Studies on tourists’ satisfaction have been an area of interest for many scholars, however, the satisfaction of tourists visiting Nusa Lembongan, Bali by fast boat has not been given attention. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the effect of the service quality of D’Camel Fast Ferry on domestic travelers’ satisfaction. Using five dimensions of service quality, which are reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangible and using simple regression technique analysis with SPSS 23 device. There were 100 respondents in this research, using Purposive Sampling as the sampling technique. The data was collected by using interviews and questionnaires. The result of the research showed that the quality service of D’Camel Fast Boat influence 50,2% of satisfaction among domestic travelers. The results showed that the service quality level is good, and the satisfaction level of domestic travelers is good. The service quality of D’Camel Fast Boat must be increased so travelers could feel satisfied with the service given.
