Abstract

Abstract. Mefenamic Acid is one type of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug that works to relieve pain by blocking an enzyme that produces prostaglandins. The quality requirements that must be met by pharmaceutical preparations are levels contained must meet the level requirement as listed in the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia or other standard books. The purpose of this study was to conduct a validation test of ultraviolet spectrophotometry methods for determination of the Mefenamic Acid level in the suspension preparation. The sample consisted of three suspensions preparation under the trade name obtained from a pharmacy in the Medan city. The solvent used is sodium hydroxide (NaOH) 0,1 N solution and the measurement was done at a wavelength of 286 nm. Validation parameters determined were Accuracy, Precision, Linearity, Range, Limit of Detection and Limit of Quantitation. The results of the determination of the Mefenamic Acid suspension preparation under the trade name Pondex® was 100,39±0,21%, trade name Omestan® was 99,98±0,33% and trade name Novastan® was 103,21±0,83%. All the suspension preparations were determined meet the general level requirement, that contain not less than 90,0% and not more than 110,0% of the amount stated on the label. The results meet the requirements of the validation test of analysis methods with the parameter percent recovery 100,08% for accuracy, relative standard deviation 0,04% for precision, the correlation coefficient 1,0000 for linearity, range 8 μg/mL to 12 μg/mL, limit of detection limit 0,0118 μg/mL, limit of quantitation 0,0356 μg/mL. Keywords: Validation, Spectrophotometry, Determination, Suspension, Mefenamic Acid

Abstract

Abstract. Early detection of breast cancer is the first step in prevention that can be done by women, therefore when one is diagnosed with breast cancer, the appropriate treatment can be performed quickly and accurately. Early diagnosis of breast cancer can be a way of mitigation in preventing breast cancer through the use of mammography. Bureau of Radiology as said by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JHCA) stated that one of the responsibilities of the radiology unit is to control the quality of service which aims to minimize the radiographic image repetition factor; as well as maximizes the quality of radiographic image. Quality control tests are an effort that is needed on the mammography X-ray diagnostics tools. This is done to maintain the quality of expected output. The parameters that are included within the radiation output are the magnitude of current and the voltage of tube that are produced; therefore they remained constant and correspond to the recommended standard. Bureau of Radiological Health, as said by JHCA mentioned that to control the quality of image which will minimize the radiographic image repetition and maximizes the quality of radiographic image. Therefore the radiation output will not be dangerous later. The early stage of the quality control test on the machine was conducted by setting all the filtrations which were placed to capture the x-ray on the x-ray plane tube with minimum value. Then, ionization chamber is placed on the test subject points; right after that the distance between it to the radiation source is noted. The x-ray film is place on a film on the compression table of the patient and the distance between film and the focus point is noted. This is then exposed using a target filter Mo/Mo by setting the current as well as variation the voltage and time. The standard voltage measurements are 20-33kVp. This data is from the observations of time exposure; the output value is then noted. The above procedure is conducted from the minimum voltage to the maximum voltage. The output ray is measured for each voltage. The same procedure is conducted to the target filter Mo/RH. The results obtained are that the greater the input voltage and current will subsequently produce greater doses, therefore the exposure has exceeded the standard limit 0.1 mHy with longer exposure time. The HVL density thickness on the mammography X-ray machine determined the quality of the beam and the doses of x-ray exposure on the mammography machine. The output stability of x-ray beam exposure in the mammography machine mode Mo/Mo still fulfill the standard which is the value of 69% Keywords: Quality Control, Sinar-X, mammography, Mp/Mo, Mo/RH

Abstract

Abstract. Dental caries is a disease with a high prevalence of caries in Indonesia is caused by the bacterium Streptococcus mutans. The leaves of the soursop (Annona muricata Linn.) is one of the herbs that can remove dental plaque. This study aims to determine the chemical content and measure the inhibitory antibacterial soursop leaft methanol extractin inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Phytochemical screening stated that the leaf of the soursop contains flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, steroids, glycosides and saponins. Test of inhibition were measured using paper disc diffusion method with variation concentrations of 5, 10, 15 20, and 25%, positive control is tetrasilkin 30 µg, and a negative control is methanol. Abstract

Abstract.The antioxidant activity from methanol extract of nutmeg leaves (Myristica fragrans Houtt) was performed using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH). Antioxidant assay using DPPH of the methanol extract at a concentration of 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 100 ppm, showed high antioxidant activity with IC50 = 36.31 ppm and Vitamin C showed antioxidant activity with IC50 = 3.657 ppm. The methanol extract of nutmeg leaves were partitioned with chloroform to obtain chloroform extract of the leaves with IC50 = 28.30 ppm. isolation of the active compounds from the chloroform  extract of the nutmeg leaf using column chromatography yielded 6 mix fractions MFMD 1, MFMD 2, MFMD 3, MFMD 4, MFMD 5 and MFMD 6. The test results of antioxidant activity in very strong category is fractions MFMD 4, MFMD 3, MFMD 2, MFMD 6 and MFMD 5 with IC50 of each are 26.590 ppm, 27.239 ppm, 29.639 ppm, 39.766 ppm and 55.436 ppm, while antioxidant activity in a weak catagory is fraction MFMD 1 with IC50 is 126.270 ppm. This shows that the fraction of the leaf has a better inhibitory activity, because some of the active compound contained in the fraction can synergize in inhibiting free radicals, so that the IC50 value of the fraction is stronger than the extract. Keywords: Antioxidant, chromathography, Nutmeg (Myristica fragransHoutt), methanol extract, leaves

Abstract

Abstract. Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. The people who live in Karo use several types of plants to relieve pain, one of which is cep-cepan (Saurauia cauliflora DC.) The leaves of this plant traditionally used to treat gastrointestinal disorders. There is no scientific evidence about analgetic effect of the leaves. Thus, this study aimed to determine the potential effect of the ethanolic extract of cep-cepan leaves as an analgesic. Fresh Cep-cepan leaves were dried in a drying cabinet at 40°C. Furthermore, the water content of the powdered dried leaves was determined using azeotropic distillation method. Phytochemical screening was carried out to determine chemical groups contained in the dried leaves. Plant extraction was done by maceration method using ethanol 96%. Analgesic effect of the extract was evaluated by observing respon time of mices to infrared as pain inducer. Mices were grouped into six categories, they were: vehicle, antalgin 65 mg/kgBW, and extracts at the dose of 500 mg/kgBW, 250 mg/kgBW, 125 mg/kgBW, 62,5 mg/kgBW, all were administered orally. The data were analayzed using ANOVA followed by LSD. Results showed that the dried leaves contained flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, anthraquinone glycosides and steroids/triterpenoids. The water contain of the dried leaves was 5,3%. The analgesic test results showed the extract at the dose of 250 mg/kgBW had strong analgesic effect similar to that of 500 mg/kgBW and antalgin 65 mg/kgBW.Keywords: analgetic, antalgin, cep-cepan, leave, saurauia cauliflora.

Abstract

Abstract. Science and technology have been rapidly evolved in some fields of knowledge, including mathematics. Such development can contribute to improvements on the learning process that encourage students and teachers to enhance their abilities and performances. In delivering the material on the linear equation system with two variables (SPLDV), the conventional teaching method where teachers become the center of the learning process is still well-practiced. This method would cause the students get bored and have difficulties to understand the concepts they are learning. Therefore, in order to the learning of SPLDV easy, an interesting, interactive media that the students and teachers can apply is necessary. This media is designed using GUI MATLAB and named as students’ electronic worksheets (e-LKS). This program is intended to help students in finding and understanding the SPLDV concepts more easily. This program is also expected to improve students’ motivation and creativity in learning the material. Abstract

Abstract. Saga (Abrus precatorius L.) have been used by Indonesian community as a traditional medicine. The research aims to determine the activity of the methanol extract of saga leaves to inhibit the growth of clinical Streptococcus pneumoniae growth. Inhibition tests was done with casting cup method. The results showed that the methanol extract of saga leaves at a concentration of 37,5; 50; 62,5; 75 and 87,5 mg/mL formed growth inhibition zone of clinical S. pneumoniae with consecutive average of 0,5; 1,75; 2,82; 4,00; and 4,82 mm. Abstract

The research in this thesis was done to examine the model of traffic flow of volcanic disaster evacuation path for uphill and downhill roads. The assessment was focused on the area of disaster evacuation path from the Pante Raya Bener Meriah intersection to Takengon. This model is assessed for two different types of time when which a disaster occurs; the disaster occurred at night and the disaster occurred during the day, especially during peak hours (working hours). The model was developed with attention to the exixtence of inflow and outflow along the evacuation route. Furthermore, the model obtained is solved numerically by using finite difference method. The chosen approach of this method is upwind scheme with time and space steps using forward difference and backward difference. The solution of this model in the form of simulated vehicle density along evacuation pathways. The research conducted is in the form of a model of traffic flow on evacuation paths and restricted to the inflow and outflow without alternative path as well as the conditions of the road which are uphill and downhill, showed a high density of vehicles either at night or during the day. Uphill road conditions resulted in decreased vehicle speed and vehicle density will increase, while downhill road conditions resulted in increased vehicle speed and vehicle density will decrease, meaning that the road conditions which are uphill and downhill will greatly affect the process of evacuation. Degree vehicles of evacuation efficiency occuring at night without an alternative pathway produces a high efficiency so that it can be interpreted that the evacuation process in the evening was successful and runs better than the evacuation process during the day, and this is caused by the existence of vehicles on the road  evacuation process started thus affecting the efficiency levels. Keywords : Traffic flows, finite difference method, upwind scheme method, forward difference, backward difference, greenshield method, uphill road, downhill road.

Abstract

Abstract. It has tested the antioxidant activity of n-hexane extract respective roots, bark, fruit and seed crops of nutmeg against DPPH. Each extracted by maceration method with n-hexane. The extraction of each plant nutmeg with n-hexane extract obtained yield of n-hexane respectively 8,35%; 81,5%; 11,89% and 55,63%. The result of the antioxidant activity of n-hexane extract of each plant nutmeg against DPPH with a concentration of 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 100 ppm is obtained IC50, respectively, are 0,216 ppm, 63,755 ppm, 43,998 ppm and 11,599 ppm and positive control vitamin C ( IC50 = 3,657 ppm). Vitamin C is a standard compound is more often used than butyl for very high antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity increases from high to low at the roots, seeds, fruits and bark of plants nutmeg in a row. Based on data GC-MS chemical components of each successive extracts of roots, bark, fruit and seeds are 41, 41, 44, 43 components of secondary metabolites. The main components of each part of the plant based on data from GC-MS are a 5-Octadecanoic acid, linalool, eugenol, myristicin, methoxyeugenol. Abstract

A taxonomic key based on soldier and worker characters for an open air processional column termites genera, Lacessititermes, was constructed from material collected from Sumatra and adjacent islands from 1998 to 2017. As many as seven species of the genus are taxonomically difficult and complicated. Soldier caste is efective to separate L. piliferus, L. longinsus, L. albipes and L. batavus while mandible characters are efective to separate L. laborator from L. sordidus. Combination of soldier and worker characters are highly useful for identification of Lacessititermes from Sumatra. Keywords: Termite, Lacessititermes, Taxonomy, Sumatra
