Abstract

Despite experiencing a 10.83% decline in 2024, the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province paradoxically still has the highest poverty rate on Java Island. This persistent problem underscores the need to identify specific factors that cause poverty. Therefore, this research purposes to examine how the poverty rate in DIY Province is affected by GRDP per capita, Population Growth Rate, HDI, and TPT during the period 2017 to 2024. This research applies a quantitative methodology is panel data regression analysis techniques applying the Fixed Effects Model. The results show that GRDP per capita, Population Growth Rate, and TPT have no significant effect on poverty. Meanwhile, HDI has a negative and significant effect on poverty. The implications of the policy include the need to distribute investment evenly to disadvantaged areas, accompanied by incentives for labor-intensive sectors likes agriculture, strengthening sustainable family planning programs to keep population growth under control, strengthening education services likes providing scholarships and specific vocational training, especially in the application of technology and health services likes providing access to technology-based clean water and sanitation in Kulonprogo and Gunung Kidul. Furthermore, job creation needs to be expanded.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Bernah De Vallei tourism sector in improving the welfare of the community in Kembangbelor Village. The research employs a quantitative approach with an associative design. A total of 67 respondents were selected using simple random sampling. The independent variables include household size, type of occupation, gender, and age, while the dependent variable is community welfare measured through income. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression along with classical assumption tests, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that the type of occupation has a positive and significant effect on community welfare, with a significance value of 0.0018. Meanwhile, household size, gender, and age do not have a significant effect. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly influence community welfare, indicated by an F-value of 17.61 and a significance of 0.000. The Adjusted R² value of 0.531996 indicates that 53.19% of the variation in welfare can be explained by the variables in the model. This study concludes that community involvement in tourism-related occupations plays a crucial role in improving economic welfare in Kembangbelor Village.

Abstract

This study analyses the impact of local taxes, local levies, general allocation funds (DAU), and special allocation funds (DAK) on capital expenditure in the Gerbangkertasusila region (two cities and five districts) during the period 2015–2024. The background of the research stems from the dynamics of regional autonomy and fiscal capacity disparities between regions, where Surabaya is the main driver of regional development while other regions are relatively limited. The research method uses a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis (CEM, FEM, REM) as well as Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests to determine the best model. The test results indicate local taxes, DAU, and DAK have a significantly impact on capital expenditure, while local levies have no effect. Simultaneously, the four variables together explain 89.15% of the variation in capital expenditure, emphasising the importance of combining local revenue and central transfers to support development. These findings align with federal fiscal theory and previous research, emphasising the need to optimise tax collection, enhance the effectiveness of local revenues, and manage DAU and DAK accountably to strengthen local fiscal capacity and improve public service quality.

Abstract

Poverty remains a major structural issue in East Java Province, as evidenced by variations in poverty levels across districts and cities. This investigation evaluates the implications of education, minimum wage, and unemployment on poverty levels in East Java during the 2022–2024 period, grounded in the Vicious Circle of Poverty theory, which highlights the interconnectedness of human resources, employment opportunities, and income in perpetuating poverty. The present study applies a quantitative approach using panel data that merges cross-sectional datasets from 38 districts/cities with time-series records for 2022–2024, acquired from the BPS, and analyzed using panel regression models. The empirical evidence suggests that education imposes a significant negative effect on poverty, minimum wage exerts a negative yet statistically non-significant effect, and unemployment demonstrates a positive and significant impact; in unison, these three factors exert a statistically meaningful collective influence. Therefore, integrated policies are essential to enhance education, foster formal employment, and strengthen wage policies.

Abstract

Art exhibitions function not only as spaces of expression but also as channels for distributing meaning and value within the creative economy. This article examines interpretations of well-being in relation to the participation of Yayasan Seruni artists in the “Pameran Seni Tumbuh Seikat” exhibition at TMPT Creative Compound during the post-pandemic transition period. The study aims to analyze how artists interpret well-being through artistic production and exhibition amid economic and emotional conditions that have not fully recovered. The main issue addressed is whether these experiences generate well-being or ill-being and how objective economic conditions influence them. A qualitative descriptive method was applied using triangulated data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation involving three artists from Yayasan Seruni. Behavioral Economics is used as the analytical framework to explain how objective economic conditions, emotions, and creative decisions interact in shaping well-being. The findings show that well-being is not determined solely by income or artwork sales, but also by psychological stability, affective factors, and social recognition. These findings emphasize the need for a broader and more contextual understanding of well-being in order to support a more responsive, inclusive, and sustainable creative economy. Keywords: Creative Economy, Subjective Well-being, Behavioral Economics, Art Space, Graphic ArtistsJEL: J24, Z11, D91
