Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of grain prices at the farm level, milling, and rice pricesat the consumer level on the purchasing power of farmers in East Java, which is representedby the farmer exchange rate (NTP). The Data used is secondary data for the period 2020-2024 from BPS East Java and Disperindag East Java. The analysis was conducted usingVector Error Correction Model (VECM) to see the short and long term relationship. Theresults showed that the price of grain at the farm level and the price of rice at the consumerlevel is more influential on purchasing power than the price at the milling level. Grain priceincreases have a positive and significant effect on NTP both in the short and long term.Conversely, rising consumer rice prices negatively affect purchasing power. Meanwhile, theprice of grain in the mill does not have a significant effect, indicating the added value at thatpoint is not fully enjoyed by farmers. This study suggests the need for price protection at thefarm level and the strengthening of fair supply chains in order to maintain purchasing powerand improve the welfare of farmers in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Home industry is one of the micro business sectors that continues to grow in Indonesia, including the sandal craft industry in Sukamantri Village. This study aims to determine how pricing is determined in the Iday Home Industry and how these price changes affect sales volume. A qualitative approach was used in this study with observation and semi-structured interview techniques. Pricing is determined directly by the business owner by considering the type of raw materials, the level of difficulty of the model, and labor costs, as well as other additional costs such as worker consumption and the use of production gas, as shown in the findings of this study. Price changes in the study affected sales volume, where price decreases tended to increase demand, especially during busy months, while during quiet months, demand was not greatly affected by price changes. The price factor was concluded to play an important role in influencing sales volume, but this influence was also related to wholesale market conditions and seasonal demand patterns.

Abstract

Economic growth is one of the main indicators of the success of regional development, which is greatly influenced by government fiscal policy. This study aims to analyze the effect of Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD), Transfers to Regions and Village Funds (TKDD), and capital expenditure on economic growth in Central Sulawesi Province for the period 2017–2024. This study covers 13 regencies/cities in Central Sulawesi, using a quantitative method with panel data regression analysis using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The partial test results show that PAD and TKDD have a positive and significant effect on economic growth, while capital expenditure has a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, PAD, TKDD, and capital expenditure have a significant effect on economic growth. The coefficient of determination value of 97.95% indicates that PAD, TKDD, and capital expenditure play a very significant role in explaining the variation in economic growth, while the remaining 2.05% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that these three variables play an important role in driving and determining the dynamics of regional economic growth.

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional problem that poses a primary challenge to economic development in Indonesia. The study aims to analyze the influence of unemployment, average years of schooling, and the Gini ratio on poverty, both partially and simultaneously. This research employs a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The research design utilizes panel data combining cross-sectional data (38 regencies/cities) and time-series data (years 2022-2024). The research location is East Java Province. The subject/data source is secondary data from publications by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The data collection technique was carried out using the documentation method. The data analysis technique used panel data regression analysis. The results show that unemployment has a positive and significant effect on poverty, average years of schooling has a negative and significant effect on poverty, and the Gini ratio has a positive and significant effect on poverty. Simultaneously, unemployment, average years of schooling, and the Gini ratio are proven to have a significant effect on poverty in regencies/cities in East Java Province. The conclusion of this study indicates that poverty in East Java is influenced by labor market dynamics, the quality of public education, and the level of income inequality. Increases in unemployment and income inequality tend to raise poverty levels, while improvements in average years of schooling play a role in reducing poverty. The suggestion from this study is that the government should prioritize policies for job creation, improving the quality and equity of education, as well as reducing income disparities between regions in order to support a sustainable reduction in poverty levels.

Abstract

The open unemployment rate serves as a critical indicator of labor market conditions and regional economic stability. Bangka Belitung’s economy depends on capital-intensive tin mining, making it susceptible to global price volatility. This condition impacts job creation, especially when weighed against population growth, minimum wage regulations, and changing consumer purchasing power. This study aims to analyze the influence of population size, the provincial minimum wage, and per capita expenditure on the open unemployment rate for the 2018–2024 period, utilizing tin prices as a control variable. The research employs a quantitative approach with panel data regression, from six regencies and one city. Secondary data were sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Department of Manpower, and PT Timah Tbk. The results indicate that all variables simultaneously have a significant effect on open unemployment. Partially, population size and per capita expenditure exert a significant negative influence, while the UMP has a significant positive influence on unemployment. These findings confirm that unemployment in Bangka Belitung is driven by demographic factors, wage policies, and purchasing power. Consequently, it is recommended that the local government promote labor-intensive economic diversification and strengthen non-mining sectors to ensure a more resilient labor market.

Abstract

The persistently high unemployment rate in West Java Province, despite being a national industrial hub, indicates structural problems in the labor market that have become increasingly complex due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study focuses on the influence of the minimum wage, domestic investment, the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), and economic growth on unemployment, both before and during the pandemic, while also considering the interaction of wage subsidy policies implemented over the 2020–2024 period. The research adopts a quantitative approach using panel data regression across 27 districts and cities in West Java through three model specifications. The findings reveal that prior to the pandemic, minimum wages had no significant effect on unemployment, while domestic investment showed a significant positive impact, whereas LFPR and economic growth were not significant. During the pandemic period, the COVID-19 variable significantly increased unemployment, with other variables remaining relatively stable. After the implementation of wage subsidy policies, LFPR had a significant negative effect on unemployment, while domestic investment became insignificant. Overall, the results emphasize the crucial role of the pandemic and labor policy dynamics in influencing unemployment in West Java.

Abstract

Profitability is one of the main indicators used to assess the performance and financial soundness of banks as financial intermediaries. The level of banking profitability is influenced by various factors, including internal factors such as managerial performance and external factors such as macroeconomic conditions that affect the stability of the financial system. This study aims to analyze the effect of internal factors, namely Net Interest Margin (NIM), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), as well as external factors consisting of the BI Rate and inflation on bank profitability measured by Return on Assets (ROA) in Indonesian Commercial Banks classified as Core Capital Banks (KBMI) 3 and KBMI 4 during the period 2020–2025. This study employs secondary panel data obtained from banks’ annual reports and publications issued by the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan/OJK). Panel data regression analysis using the Random Effect Model (REM) is applied to examine the relationship between the variables. The results indicate that internal and external factors simultaneously have a significant effect on ROA. Partially, NIM and the BI Rate have a positive and significant effect on ROA, while CAR, BOPO, and inflation have a negative and significant effect on ROA, indicating that banking profitability is influenced by internal bank performance as well as macroeconomic dynamics.

Abstract

Five ASEAN members Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore are examined in this study in relation to trade liberalization, FDI, government spending, labor, and economic growth. The study employs annual panel data from 2004 to 2023 obtained from the World Bank and applies panel data regression analysis. The outcome show that trade openness and FDI contribute positively and significantly to economic growth, while government expenditure and labor force show negative and insignificant effects. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly influence economic growth. Considering these results, economic policies should focus on enhancing trade openness, strengthening the investment climate to attract FDI, improving the efficiency and quality of government spending, and upgrading labor quality through education and skill development to promote sustainable economic growth in five ASEAN member countries.
