Abstract

The quality of learning is an important factor in improving student achievement. Currently, not all students can understand and apply the material taught in class because the lessons are abstract, while what is needed are real objects for learning materials. One of the learning media that can be developed at this time is learning applications. Application-based learning media is easy to access and use for everyone, and can be done anywhere, at home or on the move, allowing users to learn on their own time. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). The system development method used in this study is the Waterfall model. The media developed above has gone through the validation stage. The results of the validation state that the resulting learning media is suitable for use by school students. The developed application has interesting features such as attractive images, animations. In addition, the application also displays interesting visual material. To evaluate student understanding, this application is also equipped with a quiz.

Abstract

The cooperative learning model of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) type is a learning model in which students are instilled in how to make conclusions on the material being studied. In addition, the CUPs cooperative learning model is based on a constructivism approach based on the belief that students construct conceptual understanding by expanding or modifying existing knowledge. This research is experimental research which aims to find out the conceptual understanding of class VII students of SMP Negeri 6 Palopo who apply the CUPs type cooperative model. The population in the study were all class VII students of SMP Negeri 6 Palopo. The data collection was carried out in 2 stages, namely the preparation stage and the data collection stage. The analysis used in this study was descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The average value of gain in the experimental class is 0.78 which is in the high category while the average value of gain in the control class is 0.66 which is in the medium category. In the sig column (2-tailed) the probability value is 0.000 less than the significant value α = 0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a difference in the increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who are taught using the CUPs type cooperative learning model and conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to produce science learning media for grade 5 of elementary school based on Macromedia Flash. This research was conducted using the R&D (Research and Development) method and the staged model of this research used the Waterfall model or what is often referred to as the waterfall model. The results of this study is Desktop-Based Science Learning Media Application for grade 5 elementary. This Application is consisting of main menus such as KI and KD menus, objectives menu, material menu, quiz menu, about menu and profile menu. This application has been tested using the Black Box method and tested by multimedia expert lecturers. It can be concluded that all button page views have functioned properly so that this learning media application is feasible to use.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities applying the problem posing approach with Macromedia Flash in class X SMAN 1 Luwu. This is an experimental research with a quasi-experimental form. This study used a one group pretest posttest design. This design uses an initial test (pretest) then after being given the treatment, another measurement (posttest) is carried out. The population in the study was all 12 classes of X SMA 1 Luwu students. The sample in this study was class X MIPA 7 at SMAN 1 Luwu with a total of 25 students. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used in this study are descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The type of t-test used is the one sample t-test. The results showed that students' mathematical problem-solving skills before applying the problem posing approach with Macromedia Flash in class X SMAN 1 Luwu, on average were in the medium category. The students' mathematical problem solving ability after applying the problem posing approach with Macromedia Flash in class X SMAN 1 Luwu, on average is in the high category. There was an increase in the mathematical problem solving ability of class X students of SMAN 1 Luwu after applying the problem posing approach with Macromedia Flash.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is one of the basic abilities that every student must have in examining, expressing, and exploring a mathematical idea in the form of a problem, information, definition, etc. to find an appropriate solution according to the results of the representation, whether in the form of pictures, words, tables, symbols, graphs, and patterns in mathematics. The biggest reason that hinders students' bright ideas from appearing is the weak ability of students' mathematical representations which hinders students in determining the completion of mathematical problems and even less careful in reading story problems, weak in problem analysis, inaccurate, and difficulty connecting between concepts. The subjects of this study were students of grade VIII in one of the MTs in the Angkona sub-district, which consisted of two students. The instrument used for this research is the Visualizer Verbalizer Questionnaire (VVQ). Mathematical representation ability test questions and interviews. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the students' representation abilities with the visualizer and verbalizer styles are quite good. There are several interesting things from the two research subjects, namely the Visualizer subject (SVi) in solving a problem prioritizing the visual aspect in examining each question and the information contained in the a simpler form in representing an image and illustration of a flat shape. Meanwhile, the subject verbalizer (SVe) is more likely to explore detailed and clear information in representing something related to the Pythagorean theorem.
