Abstract

Murabahah has become a flagship product in Islamic banking in Indonesia and internationally, as evidenced by data from Bank Indonesia in 2023, which shows murabahah financing reaching IDR 380 trillion or 30.91% of total Islamic banking financing. The popularity of murabahah is supported by its fiqh scheme, which is considered to have low risk, transparency in prices and costs, fairness in payments, and compliance with sharia principles. However, the implementation of murabahah financing faces various challenges, including gaps in legal interpretation, regulatory inconsistencies, and a lack of understanding and education regarding the principles of maqâsid al-syarî’ah. This research uses normative legal methods to evaluate the effectiveness of murabahah implementation within the framework of Law No. 21 of 2008 and the principles of maqâsid al-syarî’ah. Through qualitative analysis of primary and secondary data, this research provides recommendations for improving legal interpretation, enhancing coordination between institutions, and educating the public to improve the quality and compliance with Sharia principles in murabahah financing.

Abstract

Classical Islamic economic thought plays a crucial role in shaping the conceptual foundation of modern Islamic economics, particularly through Ibn Khaldun's work, Al-Muqaddimah. This study aims to analyze Ibn Khaldun's concepts of work and production and examine their relevance in the context of modern Islamic economics. The research method employed is a literature review, examining Ibn Khaldun's primary works, Islamic economics books, and relevant scientific journal articles. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively to systematically and comprehensively understand Ibn Khaldun's views. The results show that Ibn Khaldun views work as the primary source of economic value, generating added value and becoming a crucial factor in creating social prosperity. Furthermore, production is understood as the result of the division of labor and specialization, which encourages increased efficiency and productivity. This concept aligns with the principles of modern Islamic economics, particularly in human resource development, productivity enhancement, and the achievement of equitable and sustainable social welfare.

Abstract

This study examines in depth the system of pagan beliefs in pre-Islamic Arabia and the profound transformation that occurred following the Prophetic mission of Muhammad. Employing a qualitative historical approach grounded in classical Islamic historiography as well as contemporary scholarly works, this research systematically analyzes the theological structure, ritual expressions, and socio-political functions embedded within Arabian paganism. The findings demonstrate that pre-Islamic paganism was not merely a simple polytheistic belief system; rather, it was deeply intertwined with tribal authority, economic networks, and constructions of social identity. Although Allah was acknowledged as the supreme deity, idols operated as intermediaries in religious rituals, particularly those centered around the Ka'bah. The transformation initiated after the advent of prophethood was marked by a revolutionary theological shift through the doctrine of tawhid (monotheism), accompanied by a gradual restructuring of social and cultural norms. Islam dismantled idolatrous practices while retaining and purifying certain existing traditions, thereby establishing a new monotheistic paradigm that fundamentally reshaped Arabian civilization. This study contributes to broader discussions concerning religious transformation and socio-theological change in early Islamic history.
