Abstract

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a serious and common infectious disease of the liver, HBV infection is endemic, particularly in developing countries, and is a serious public health problem. Cytokines and regulatory molecules play a fundamental role in the immuno pathogenesis of HBV infection. The gene loci for cytokines are defined, and polymorphisms of these genes are suggested to influence the outcome of HBV infection. In our study we revealed that there are elevated in Aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine transaminase (ALT) and Bilirubin (Bil) among HBV patient than control group. IL–4 rs2070874 SNP Genotypes among patients with HBV was ONLY 68 positive to PCR results while in contrast it is only 9 within control group. The highest ratio of genotype in both groups was in CC as 36 (52.9%) in patients and 5 (55.6%) in control. Allele frequency on other hands describe as follow;  in HBV and control group for C 72 (63.7%), 11 (61.1%) while for T 41 (26.3%) and 7 (38.9%) respectively. Genotypes of IL–10 rs1800872SNP among patients was in AA as 43 (62.3%) in patients and 13 (76.5%) in control. On other hands Allele frequency describe as follow; in HBV and control group for A 106 (76.8%), 29 (85.3%) while for G 32 (23.2%) and 5 (14.7%). IFN-γ (rs2069705 SNP) Genotypes among patients with HBV was in AG as 39 (28.8%) in patients and 10 (47.6%) in control with GG. Allele frequency. Abstract

Objective: This study was aimed to assess effect of acupuncture in progression of cachexia in breast cancer patient. Indicator progression of cachexia in this study is level of BMI, FM and FFM was measured before and after eight session of acupuncture procedure.Methods:  Seven patients were diagnosed breast cancer provide eight acupuncture session before chemotherapy and radiotherapy procedure. Acupuncture procedure was done every 2 days, with duration 30 minutes for every session. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) measurements were taken at before and after eight acupuncture session to evaluate the body composition of patients. BIA is fast, inexpensive and noninvasive method for evaluating Body Mass Index (BMI), Fat Mass (FM) and Fat-Free Mass (FFM).Results and Conclusion: All patients were include in the analysis were complete the acupuncture intervention and BIA measurements. Average age was 54 years, with rang 47-58 years. Most of patients in advanced cancer, 28.5% stage 3 and 43% in stage 4. In this study acupuncture could prevent progression of breast cancer cachexia, with maintain body composition during procedure. BMI was relative constant after eight session of acupuncture (20.25±3.1; p>0.00). Similarly, from BIA measurement, FFM decrease only 0.4% (p>0.05) and FM increase 0.4% (p>0.05). The constant value of body composition mean acupuncture could maintain the metabolism rate in cachexia patients. This study indicate acupuncture could prevent progression of cachexia in breast cancer. Keywords: Acupuncture, Cachexia, Breast Cancer, Body composition.

Abstract

Wax apple (Syzygium samarangense) fruit has a good source phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidant constituents with great potential benefits for human health. Its pulp is crisp and watery, slightly acid flavor to a full and fruity apple flavour. Microfiltration is an emerging technology, a good alternative for the fruit juice processing with a significant interaction to sensory and nutritional attributes. Purpose of our research verified the feasibility of different variables of cross-flow velocity (3.2, 4.0, 4.8, 5.6, 6.4 m/s) and temperature (22, 26, 30, 34, 38oC) in microfiltration using hollow fibre membrane to permeate flux (L/m2h), total phenolic (mg GAE/g) and flavonoid (mg GE/g) in wax apple juice. Our results revealed that the microfiltration should be performed at cross-flow velocity 4.8 m/s at temperature 34oC to get the highest permeate flux, total phenolic and flavonoid.Keywords: Wax apple juice, Microfiltration, Cross-flow velocity, Temperature, Permeate flux, Total phenolic, Flavonoid.

Abstract

The importance of the research of reducing the duration of therapy and the importance of modern equipment used in the research, either in the therapy or in the exercises, the researcher used laser therapy, the latest method in the world, which provides therapy injury and infected return to practice daily work at a record speed, Marcy Wedge in the performance of strength exercises, flexibility and slow pace. The researcher also used the 200-EK3 electronic device to measure the muscle strength in Newton units. The problem of the research lies in the length of the therapy programs used in the rehabilitation centers, which are not in the interest of the infected, so the researcher considered reducing the duration of therapy through the use of modern and sophisticated equipment, And effort. The aim of the study was to prepare strength and flexibility exercises using the Marcy Wedge and Laser Therapy sessions in the rehabilitation of the injured elbow in women. Also, the impact of strength exercises and flexibility associated with laser therapy sessions in the rehabilitation of the injured elbow in women. The researchers used the experimental approach in the design of a single group and in the method of pretests and post measurement. The study was conducted on a sample of (20 patients) who were deliberately chosen from among the women who had a tennis injury. Their age ranged from 25-30 years. The sample was then subjected to laser therapy sessions and exercises to increase the strength and flexibility of the affected joint. The researchers concluded that the therapeutic laser had a positive effect on pain relief and the speed of wound healing. The strength and flexibility exercises using the Marcy wedge system increased the strength and flexibility of the injured joint. The researchers recommended the need to adopt laser in the therapy of various injuries for it to achieve good results and fast time.Keywords: Strength and flexibility exercises, Marcy Wedge and Laser.

Abstract

Development of coatings with the properties of resistance to mechanical loads of various kinds as abrasion, pressure remains an urgent issue in modern dentistry. A framework with a stable coating is less exposed to an aggressive biological environment - saliva, as well as the activity of microorganisms. To achieve the optimal result, it is necessary to search for the optimum in a combination of three factors: the actual structural properties of the implant, the properties of the coating of the implant, as well as the manufacturing technology of the coating and the implant itself. The work was performed on a clinical basis of Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (Sechenov University). Medical steel, grade BioDur 108 (Carpenter Technology Corp.) was used as the basis (or substrate) for production of dental implants for testing. Supporting coatings based on titanium oxide (TiO2) or based on titanium nitrides/oxynitrides (TiOxN1-x) were placed on the substrate. Roughness coefficient (Ra) was in the range of 0.30-0.55 μm. We have not recorded statistically significant differences between the Ra value and type of product (substrate). That is, dental implants with and without coating did not have a difference in the Ra coefficient.The same results were obtained for the hydrophilic properties of the surface of dental implants - regardless of the presence or absence of coating, hydrophilicity indices were observed within 84-87%. The surfaces of dental implants do not have a significant effect on any physiological indicators of platelet activity. Without contact with the substrate, the parameters of blood plasma were proved to remain unchanged for an hour at 37°C. On the contrary, in contact with the steel part of the dental implant, without coating, there was a significant increase in platelet activity. As our experiments showed, the presence on the dental implants of a coating consisting of titanium oxide, or with the inclusion of Ti-O-N, reduces the likelihood of a blood clot. The reason for this is reduced adhesion of blood cells to titanium oxide surfaces.Keywords: Magnetron sputtering apparatus, Titanium oxide, Spearman correlations.

Abstract

Chocolate as a dosage form is the most adaptable and versatile form that attracts children of all age groups. The present research work is to design and fabricate a palatable medicated chocolate to deliver salbutamol and ambroxol for pediatric care or prescription. Preformulation studies such as DSC, FTIR, melting point and solubility were carried out to detect any incompatibility and purity of the drugs. Medicated chocolate was formulated by incorporating the drugs into the chocolate base, with desirable viscosity. Three formulations were prepared and evaluated for physical appearance, drug excipient compatibility, weight variation, thickness, drug content, in-vitro drug release, bloom strength, stability and release kinetics. The parameters were within official specifications for formulation F3. The in-vitro drug release for optimal formulations is 86.7% and 89.4% for salbutamol and ambroxol, respectively and followed zero-order kinetics and fickian transport from the dosage form. No significant changes in the physical and chemical properties were observed during stability studies, which indicate that the formulated medicated chocolate was stable and could ensure a good therapeutic effect with patient compliance. The fabricated chocolate was elegant, smooth and creamy in texture and was excellent for taste masking unpleasant flavors associated with the drugs and excipients. The formulated chocolate may improve patient compliance as it can be used easily by pediatric patients with high preference. Efficacy of Anger Management Skills on Reducing Aggression and Improving Adjustment in Addicts Treating with Methadone in Sari-Iran Shahnam Abolghasemi

Abstract

Background: Aggression and lack of adjustment are important issues in incidence and recurrence of addiction. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of anger management skills training on modifying these variables among addicts treating with methadone. Methods: In the present experimental study all patients referred to four private addiction treatment centers supported by Sari University of Medical Sciences in north of Iran in 2015, to receive methadone treatment, completed Bell Adjustment Questionnaire and Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire. Sixty-four men scored high on aggression questionnaire and low on the Bell were identified.  Among them forty were selected randomly and were replaced in two groups (twenty in case groups and twenty in control group). Nine sessions anger management skills training was performed in case group and both groups completed questionnaire again. Data were analyzed using covariance in SPSS-20.Findings: Training anger management skills reduced aggression and increased personal and social adjustment among addicts treating with methadone, significantly (p<0.001).Conclusion: Given the benefits of anger management skills as a non-pharmacological and effective approach, using this strategy as a part of a comprehensive treatment for addicts recommended.Keywords: Anger management therapy, Aggression, Personal-social adjustment, Methadone, Drug users.

Abstract

Introduction Since its introduction by Finney and Hepperlen in 1978, the double-J (DJ) stent has become a common armament that every urologist uses every day. The use of the DJ stent cannot be separated from the morbidity or complications that might occur, including discomfort arising from the insertion of stents, forgotten to remove, urinary tract infections, biofilm formation, and even encrustation of the stent. This research aims to determine the correlation between the risk factors in the formation of encrustation in patients with urinary tract stones. Materials & Methods This is a cohort study using the chi-square analysis and odds ratio calculation. We evaluated urine metabolite, urine culture, time of removal of the DJ stent, and encrustation formation in the DJ stent. Sixty patients with urinary tract stone and 60 without urinary tract stone participated in this research. Results The presence of urine bacteria and neglected DJ stent in the stone group and abnormal urine levels of magnesium in the non-stone group had significant correlation with encrustation formation of the DJ stent (P < 0.05). Conclusions various factors lead to encrustation formation in the DJ stent, and patients with a history of stones have more risk factors for encrustation formation.Keywords DJ Stent, Bacteria, Urine Metabolite, Neglected, Encrustation.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Phenylketonuria is a hereditary, autosomal recessive disease characterized by deficiency of hepatic phenylalanine hydroxylase. Dietary PKU treatment and regular monitoring of blood Phe are responsible to prevent symptoms. Therefore, present research was performed with the objective of determining incidence of PKU in the Hormozgan Province, South of Iran. Material and Method: This cross sectional study was carried out in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan among 71677 neonates, who were born from March 21, 2014 to March 21, 2016. The newborns were screened during the days 3 to 5 after birth. Finally, the incidence rate was calculated and statistical analysis conducted by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA). Results: Among study population, 36705 (51.2%) of cases were male and 34972 (49.8%) were female and 15 cases (12 in first year and 3 in second year) were ELISA positive (considered as suspected PKA) and referred for confirmatory HPLC test. Finally, three neonates were confirmed as PKA positive cases by HPLC test. Overall incidence rate of neonatal PKA in two studied years was 1:23866. Conclusion: We can conclude that the incidence rate of phenylketonuria in southern Iran is reduced to 1:16987 in 2015 and 1:37736 in 2016, which is probably due to improved knowledge of general population of Iran about controllable determinants of PKU.Keywords: Phenylketonuria, Newborn, Incidence, Iran.

Abstract

Williamson etherification of (1) with propargyl bromide afforded the 1-O-propargyl-2, 3:5, 6-Di-O-isopropyli-dene α-D-mannofuranoside (2) in a very good yield. 1, 3-Dipolar cycloaddition of (2) with four different aryl azides derivatives using click conditions gave four new 1, 2, 3-triazole derivatives containing sugar moiety. The biological activity of synthesized compounds were tested against urease activity by immobilize this enzyme on the synthesized compounds. All of these compounds show inhibition activity of enzyme. Some of these compounds (T1) show high inhibition action on the enzyme activity, while (T2, T3, T4) show moderate effect on the activity.Keywords: Mannose, Derivatives, 1, 2, 3-triazole, Urease, Inhibitors.
