Abstract

This paper presents the systematic design process and prototype development of a prayer counter. The prayer counter is used to count the number of units of prayers or raka’at, based on the number of prostrations. The unit of prayer is determined by the accumulated number of prostration, which are two prostrations for one unit of prayer. The prayer counter receives an input signal from the input unit as it is actuated by an individual in prayer. The actuation of an input unit begins as an individual’s head touches the input unit in prostration. The input signal will be converted into an output signal and displayed with a Light Emitting Diode (LED). Users of the prayer counter can see the current unit of prayer through the display unit indicator. The LED’s lights indicate the current number of prostrations and indirectly indicate the current unit of prayer. The result of product testing, and initial evaluation of the product, shows that the prayer counter can display the number of prostrations and units of prayer precisely. It is therefore able to avoid doubt in the number of prayer units, if the individual gets distracted in prayer. In addition, the responses received from potential users, about the benefit of the product to them, was very positive. In conclusion, considering the relevant issues of the product being designed is the most important step of the design process.

Abstract

Mencegah penyebaran infeksi dan kuman pada saat kegiataan makan, mencuci tangan merupakan hal yang paling direkomendasikan. Untuk meningkatkan kesadaraan konsumen dan penjual di warung T.O teh Enung bahwa mencuci tangan adalah hal utama dengan tata cara mencuci tangan yang benar seperti mencuci tangan dengan air yang mengalir, lalu memakai sabun dan dikeringkan dengan tisu atau lap kering supaya tangan tidak kotor akibat mengelap tangan dengan baju, sedangkan baju banyak sekali kuman dan bateri maka dari itu dibutuhkan tisu atau lap kering untuk mengeringkan tangan. Tujuan cuci tangan adalah untuk menghilangkan kotoran dan debu secara mekanis dari permukaan kulit dan mengurangi jumlah mikroorganisme. Oleh sebab itu, Peneliti membuat desain tempat cuci tangan otomatis berbasis ramah lingkungan dua tingkat agar memudahkan konsumen dari semua kalangan usia dan dilengkapi alat cuci tangan. Lalu, material utama yang digunakan yaitu bambu, karena bambu merupakan tanaman ramah lingkungan, efesien, dan harganya murah. Setelah melakukan riset Tasikmalaya merupakan kota penghasil bambu terbanyak di Indonesia, material bambu tidak hanya digunakan untuk bangunan, kerajinan, melainkan bisa membuat banyak macam produk. Kemudian, peneliti menemukan inovasi baru dengan membuat tempat cuci tangan yang tradisional dengan memadukan kecanggihan sekarang yaitu menggunakan keran otomatis agar memudahkan konsumen saat mencuci tangan tanpa harus memegang keran dan menghemat air.

Abstract

Bandung Regency is one of the areas located on the banks of the Citarum River. Therefore, it risks flooding, especially in the rainy season. One of the flood disaster victims is an infant. When a flood occurs, infants rely on help from adults to survive. Currently, there is no special equipment to support the pre-evacuation and evacuation of the infant during the flood. Based on the abovementioned concerns, a means for evacuation is required so infants can avoid the flood and ease the evacuation. The method used in this design is Human Centered Design through three stages: inspiration, ideation, and implementation. The result of this research is the design of an infant evacuation preparation facility with the concept of a baby crib. This crib functions as a means for evacuating the infant safely and can also be used in daily activities to help with the bathing and lulling of the infant.

Abstract

Databases have risen to the level of being one of the most important corporate assets. The availability of data in a company is required to make the right profit decision. In running a business aiming to achieve high profitability, companies must recognize profitable items by making decisions that require knowledge of the supply chain, knowledge of past, present, and future buying patterns, and costs derived from data obtained from many different systems. In this study, a company running a quarry sand mining business is experiencing disproportions of the resource availability of quarry sands, operating expense, and profit. It leads to suspicion of fraudulence risk during the operations and transaction of the product. This study aims to minimize the fraudulence risk of quarry sand sales by using data re-verification and analytical techniques. The study implemented a process analysis and root-cause method using process flowcharting and fishbone diagram tools. The root causes of this issue happen during the initial data input process caused by three main factors namely machinery or equipment, people, and systems. The newly designed system utilizes a digital weighing scaling system for trucks in recording the initial data and deposit payment system based on the accurate truck final weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of design concepts into color identity, analyze color identity visualization into visual communication media, and formulate suggestions for harmonious color combinations. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Color identity is described in full according to the scope of the study. The description results were analyzed using qualitative methods with Roland Barthes' semiotic theory and Surianto Rustan's color theory. The function of semiotic theory is to analyze the relationship between color identity, design concepts, and business principles. Color theory is used to analyze the visualization of color identity into visual communication media and formulate harmonious color combinations. Data were collected by using observation, documentation, and library techniques. Observations and documentation were carried out by visiting the outlets on Jl. Raya Sakah, Batuan, Sukawati. Documentation includes photos of name signs and packaging. The literature is obtained through books, website, articles, and journals. The results of the study reveal that the color identity of the JFC franchise is in accordance with the Nawa Sanggha concept, namely black, gray, white, and red. Color combinations are able to interpret business principles. Visualization of color identity uses different color portions in its visual communication media. The color portion applies a combination of red, black, and white. Gray color is decorative. The combination of harmonious color portions can follow the value contrast scheme. The combination of red and gray as a sub-ordinate while black and white as an accent or dominant.

Abstract

Product development is an essential process in producing a marketable product. The study proposes a new product development model incorporating customer requirements and market trends for developing a new jeans range. The data on consumer preference of denim jeans was collected by employing a survey. The consumer survey provided insights into fit, colour, washing tone and style preference, wearing patterns, buying behaviour and sustainability requirements. Further, a web scraping algorithm was used to collect data on competitive online products. The features of jeans sold in the online market in India were studied. The data analysis provided the basis for feature selection for the denim jeans samples. These features provided the base for developing a new jeans range for men and women.  Potential consumers wore the newly designed jeans, and feedback was collected. The method of competition mapping described in this study is economical and effective for forecasting trends. The proposed product development model has practical applications and is affordable for all brands.

Abstract

In recent years, Labuan Bajo has experienced significant growth and continues to grow in terms of attracting domestic and foreign tourists. This is supported by the role of advertising media that developed in society. In previous research, it was stated that the visual elements in the promotion poster were an important factor in depicting the beautiful island situation in Labuan Bajo. The aim of this research is to determine the kind of visual elements in promotion media to represent the potential of Labuan Bajo. The qualitative method is used by doing literature review and experiment, this was supported by data collecting analysis of the posters from 30 graphic designers. The result of visual elements research is conducting the illustration shape and colour by the Labuan Bajo posters. Then, it is expected not only to become valuable elements for Labuan Bajo advertisement but also can enhance the marketing strategy for the Indonesian archipelago. This research helps develop visual elements that can become a reference for another strategy that focuses on the exotic islands and oceans in Indonesia.
