Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the contextual learning model assisted by LKS media on the understanding of science concepts in eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lape, Sumbawa Regency. The type of research used in this research is Quasi Experiment (quasi-experimental). The research design used in this study was a pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lape, Sumbawa Regency for the 2020/2021 academic year. The sample in this study were 2 classes, each of which became the experimental class and the control class. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. The instruments in this study were the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKS), and concept understanding tests. The data analysis technique used t-test at a significance level of 5%. The results obtained that the average pre-test value in the experimental class was 57 and in the control class was 58.25. The results of the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class are 45 and 70, while in the control class are 40 and 75. The results of the t-test are obtained tcount = 1.816 and ttable = 1.689, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so there is a significant difference between students' understanding of science concepts in the experimental class and students' understanding of science concepts in the control class. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the contextual learning model assisted by LKS media on the understanding of science concepts for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lape, Sumbawa Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) critical thinking skills; 2) questioning skills; and 3) the effect of socio scientific issues learning strategies on students' cognitive learning outcomes. This type of research is a quasi-experimental. The research population was all students of class VIII SMP Bina Budi Mulia 2018/2019 academic year, with a total of 106 students divided into 4 classes. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique, which was determined based on the students' abilities, so that there were 2 sample classes, namely class A as the control class with a total of 26 students, and class C as an experimental class with a total of 26 students. Based on the results of the data analysis of critical thinking skills, the pre-test results with an average of 35.18 in the control class, and 55.22 in the post-test, while the experimental class with an average pre-test value of 14.23, and post-test. test 68.76. Students' questioning skills increased from the previous control class at the first meeting by 63.66% and the second meeting by 73.33%, while the experimental class at the first meeting was 60% and the second meeting was 76.66%. The results of the analysis of students' cognitive learning outcomes obtained scores in the control class for the pre-test of 7.40% and the post-test of 66.66%, while the experimental class for the pre-test was 7.69% and the post-test was 73.07. %, with tcount = 20.292 and ttable = 0.05, so tcount > ttable. So, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that, by using a learning strategy of socio scientific issues, it affects the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMP Bina Budi Mulia in the 2018/2019 school year.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to describe the students' science process skills after being taught by the project work learning model in class VII SMP Sawunggaling; and 2) to determine the effect of the project work learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Sawunggaling. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research design using pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of SMP Sawunggaling in the 2018/2019 academic year. The research sample was class VIIA as the experimental class and class VIIB as the control class. Determination of the sample is done by using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data analysis techniques are descriptive and t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, science process skills showed that the first meeting in the experimental class was 84.88% in the very skilled category, while at the second meeting it was 91.36% in the very skilled category. The test data of students' cognitive learning outcomes showed the average value of the experimental class was 79.56% with classical completeness 86.36%, while in the control class the average value was 65.22% with classical completeness 56.52%. The test data of students' cognitive learning outcomes were then analyzed using t-test, obtained tcount of 2.39 and ttable of 1.68. Because tcount > ttable, the conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the project work learning model on students' cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out that the application of performance assessments can improve science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Demak in the 2017/2018 academic year. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Demak. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), using two cycles. The technique of collecting data was by observing the implementation of the scientific process and testing cognitive learning outcomes as many as 20 questions. The instruments used in this study were implementation test sheets (RPP), science process skills observation sheets, and student cognitive learning outcomes test sheets. The data on the results of the RPP implementation test in the first cycle was 68% at the first and second meetings in the good category, and in the second cycle it was 100% at the first and second meetings in the very good category. The data on the results of science process skills in the first cycle was 55% with a fairly high category, and 75% in the second cycle was included in the high category. Meanwhile, in the cognitive learning outcomes of students, the average value of the first cycle was 66 with classical completeness achieved by students of 40%, and in the second cycle of 77 with classical completeness achieved by students of 90%. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of performance assessments can improve science process skills and cognitive learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Demak in the 2017/2018 academic year.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the direct learning model on scientific attitudes and cognitive learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Trimurjo in the 2018/2019 academic year. This research is a quasi-experimental research with Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMP Negeri 2 Trimurjo with the research sample consisting of two classes, namely class VII A as many as 28 students as the experimental class and class VII B as many as 28 students as the control class taken by random sampling technique. Based on the results of the study, it is known that both classes experienced an increase in scientific attitude. The percentage of scientific attitude in the experimental class and the control class were 74.51% and 67.65%, respectively, and increased to 86.27% and 72.55%, respectively. Students' cognitive learning outcomes also increased. The average pretest scores of the experimental class and the control class were 38.92 and 45.53, respectively, increasing to 52.5 and 71.96 at the posttest. This data was then analyzed using t-test analysis (t-test) at a significant level of 5%, the t-value was 7.652, the value was greater than the t-table value of 1.674. This shows that there is an influence of the direct learning model on scientific attitudes and cognitive learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Trimurjo in the 2018/2019 school year.
