Abstract

This Introduction to Earth Science Field Lecture activity was conducted at Bukit Batu Putih, Samarinda City, which is the Balang Island Formation (Tmpb). This location was chosen because of the dominance of limestone in the area and the significant limestone mining activities. This study aims to understand the local geological characteristics, identify limestone types, and analyze the impact of mining on the surrounding environment. The methodology used in this study includes field observation, geological mapping, and visual analysis and limestone sample assessment. Field observations were conducted to identify the structure and texture of limestone and geological formations around the location. Geological mapping was conducted to map the distribution of limestone and understand the stratigraphic relationship between rock layers. The results of the study indicate that limestone consists of clastic and fossiliferous limestone types, which are formed from calcium carbonate deposits. Mining activities in this area have revealed many limestone layers that have economic potential. However, mining also has environmental impacts, such as changes in land morphology and degradation of water quality. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of understanding regional geology and limestone characteristics for better resource management. Recommendations are provided for improving environmentally friendly mining practices and conservation efforts to maintain the balance of the ecosystem in Bukit Batu Putih.

Abstract

Indonesian railway transportation service companies are constantly striving to improve service and facility optimization while increasing train passenger numbers. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of special fare tickets on train user decisions in order to boost passenger traffic and strengthen railways' role in the regional economy. This study examines price, time (length), and certainty opportunities as influences on the decision to acquire special fare tickets for public transportation trains. The study took a quantitative approach, with the questionnaire asking about Ability to Pay (ATP) and Willingness to Pay (WTP). Furthermore, the data was examined using multiple linear regressions to identify the impact of variables on consumer behavior. Overall, 54% of respondents can buy rail tickets at official pricing, including regular and special fares. 44% of respondents always purchase special price train tickets for long journeys and always take trains. Therefore, the resulting regression model is as follows: Y=3.115 - 0.49X1 + 0.042X2. The price variable shows a negative influence (-0.49), indicating that the greater the ticket price, the less likely someone will purchase a special fare train ticket. In contrast, the time variable has a positive effect, with a value of + 0.043, indicating that the longer the time given, the more likely someone will opt to buy.

Abstract

In an era of increasingly fierce competition, leaders in corporate organizations are required to empower their employees to be more effective and efficient. Leader empowerment can increase employee autonomy, motivation, and job satisfaction, which ultimately affects turnover intention. This study aims to analyze the impact of leader empowerment on turnover intention in corporate organizations through a meta-analysis approach of five related articles. The method used in this research is meta-analysis, which collects, analyzes, and synthesizes the results of various empirical studies on leadership empowerment and turnover intention. Relevant literature was selected based on certain criteria to ensure the validity and relevance of the data. The results show that leadership empowerment has a positive and negative influence on turnover intention. On the one hand, leadership empowerment can reduce turnover intention by increasing employee motivation and engagement. On the other hand, increasing employees' capabilities may encourage them to seek opportunities in other companies. This finding emphasizes the importance of leaders in understanding the behaviours and expectations of their subordinates and their involvement in decision-making. Overall, leadershipempowerment plays an important role in turnover intention in organizations. To minimize turnover intention, leaders need to implement strategies that empower employees while considering the complexity of diverse organizational contexts. This effort is expected to create a more stable and productive work environment.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a serious problem affecting public health and social stability in Indonesia. The criminal justice system often faces challenges in dealing with drug abuse cases, where the punitive approach often ignores the more humane aspects of rehabilitation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation policies in the Indonesian criminal justice system related to drug abuse and identify the obstacles faced by judges in imposing rehabilitation punishment. The research method used is normative legal research, with a statutory approach to analyze various relevant laws and policies. Data was collected through literature study and document analysis. The results showed that there are several obstacles in the implementation of rehabilitation policy, including community stigma towards drug abusers, judges' lack of knowledge about the rehabilitation process, limited rehabilitation facilities, and legal uncertainty. The research also found that despite regulations supporting rehabilitation, practices in the field often favor imprisonment.  To improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation policies, it is important to provide education and training to judges, develop quality rehabilitation facilities, improve inter-agency coordination, and conduct campaigns to reduce social stigma. These measures are expected to shift the paradigm of handling drug abuse from a retributive to a rehabilitative approach, supporting individual recovery and reintegration into society.

Abstract

Law enforcement in the military justice environment in Indonesia faces unique challenges, including legal gaps and inadequate quality of human resources (HR). This impacts the effectiveness of law enforcement and justice for members of the TNI. This research aims to explore the barriers to law enforcement in military courts and provide recommendations to improve the quality of human resources and the effectiveness of law enforcement. The research method used is normative legal research with statutory and conceptual approaches. Data collection was conducted through literature study and analysis of relevant legal documents. The results showed that there were several obstacles, including the lack of clear regulations, lack of qualified human resources, and disharmony between the military and general courts. Although legal procedures exist, their implementation is often hampered by lengthy bureaucracy and a lack of training for military legal personnel. This research recommends improved education and training, competency-based recruitment, and the development of an information management system for law enforcement efficiency. To improve the effectiveness of law enforcement in military courts, structural and substantial reforms need to be carried out, including improving the quality of human resources and harmonization between the military and general justice systems. These efforts are expected to create a justice system that is more responsive and accountable to the needs of society.
