Abstract

Background: Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB) is a behavior based on personal awareness to maintain and improve health, enabling individuals and families to protect themselves and actively participate in social life. Family-related factors, such as parents’ education level and occupation, are assumed to influence the development of health behaviors in school-aged children. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between parents’ education level and occupation and clean and healthy living behavior among school-aged children. Methods: This study employed a quantitative method with an analytic observational cross-sectional design. A total of 144 respondents were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires measuring parents’ education level, occupation, and children’s clean and healthy living behavior. Univariate analysis was used to describe respondent characteristics, while bivariate analysis using the chi-square test examined the relationships between variables. Results: The results showed that most parents had a basic level of education (43.1%) and worked in the formal sector (62.5%). Meanwhile, 56.9% of children demonstrated good clean and healthy living behavior. The chi-square test indicated no significant relationship between parents’ education level and children’s clean and healthy living behavior (p=0.870), as well as no relationship between parents’ occupation and children’s clean and healthy living behavior (p=0.543). Conclusion: Parents’ education level and occupation are not significantly associated with clean and healthy living behavior among school-aged children.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitusis a chronic metabolic disease that requires long-term treatment and optimal patient adherence to prevent complications. Low medication adherence often becomes a major barrier to successful therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of education delivered through video media on medication adherence among patients with Diabetes Mellitus in the working area of Puskesmas Perumnas, Kendari City. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach, involving 87 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable was education using video media, while the dependent variable was medication adherence measured using the MMAS-8 questionnaire. The results showed that before receiving the educational intervention, most respondents had low (57.5%) and moderate (42.5%) adherence levels. Following the video-based education, adherence improved, with 63.2% categorized as high, 27.6% as moderate, and 9.2% as low. The Marginal HomogeneityTest yielded a p-valueof 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of video-based education on improving medication adherence among patients with Diabetes Mellitus. In conclusion, education delivered through video media is effective in increasing medicationa dherence.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment and high medication adherence to prevent complications. One factor that is thought to play a role in improving medication adherence is family support. Family support is expected to help patients adhere to regular medication use; however, in practice, medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is often found to be low. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between family support and the level of medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Gamping II Primary Health Center. Methods: This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 89 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a family support questionnaire and a medication adherence questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that most respondents had moderate family support (53.9%) and a low level of medication adherence (86.5%). The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.341 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no significant relationship between family support and medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Conclusion: The majority of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Gamping II Community Health Center have a moderate level of family support; however, their medication adherence remains low. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between family support and medication adherence among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (p > 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a hematological disorder that can cause fatigue and reduce activity tolerance as well as quality of life. The management of anemia is not limited to pharmacological therapy but also requires safe and easily applicable non-pharmacological interventions, such as the combination of HEPIKA therapy, which includes Range of Motion [ROM] exercises and Benson relaxation. This combination of interventions can help improve circulation, reduce stress, and alleviate fatigue. Objective: To determine the effect of the combination of HEPIKA therapy and Benson relaxation in reducing fatigue levels in anemia patients. To find out the factors related to exclusive breastfeeding at the Amuntai Selatan Community Health Center. Methods: This study employed a case study design with a one-subject pre–post intervention approach. The subject was a 20-year-old female with moderate anemia experiencing fatigue. The intervention, consisting of a combination of HEPIKA therapy and Benson relaxation, was administered for one week with five evaluation sessions. Fatigue levels were measured using the Fatigue Severity Scale [FSS] before and after the intervention. Results: The FSS score before the intervention was 6.1, indicating severe fatigue, and decreased to 2.0 after the intervention, indicating mild to no fatigue. Additionally, there was an improvement in activity tolerance, peripheral perfusion, stabilization of breathing patterns, and the patient’s ability to perform light activities without easily feeling fatigued. Conclusion: The combination of HEPIKA therapy and Benson relaxation is effective in reducing fatigue levels in patients with anemia within a relatively short period. This intervention has the potential to be an alternative non-pharmacological therapy to improve activity tolerance and quality of life in patients.
