Abstract

Background and Objectives: This study aims at analyzing Mahmud Abu Rayyah's allegations against Abu Hurairah one of the leading transmitters of hadith as well as evaluating the validity of these allegations in hadith narration. Methodology: The study used a descriptive qualitative method with primary data from hadith books and secondary data from modern literature and scholarly journals. The analysis was done through the stages of verification, reduction, thematic arrangement, and interpretation of data. Main Results: The results show that Mahmud Abu Rayyah's accusations against Abu Hurairah are based on misinterpretation and lack of contextual understanding. Abu Hurairah, although only with the Prophet for about three years, played an important role in hadith narration. The traditions he narrated have been verified by scholars and accepted in the hadith literature. Involvement: This study reinforces Abu Hurairah's position as a credible narrator and highlights the importance of sanad and matan criticism methods in hadith verification.  Conclusions: Abu Rayyah's allegations have proven to be unfounded and this study underscores the efforts of scholars in preserving the authenticity of hadith. Future research should include a broader perspective of schools of thought and explore the impact of hadith polemics on contemporary religious understanding and practice.

Abstract

Background and Objetives: This research focus on Maqāṣidi tafsir on Abdul Karim Hāmidī's Maqāṣid Al-Qur'ān perspective’s, with the aim of describing the construction of his thoughts. This research is based on the importance of understanding the main purpose of the revelation of the Qur'an in order to achieve the benefit of mankind, as well as the Maqāṣid Al-Qur'an in Hāmidī's perspective. Methodology: library research, which involves analyzing primary and secondary literature related to Maqāṣid Al-Qur'an and Maqāṣidi tafsir. Main findings: Hāmidī defines Maqāṣid Qur'ān as the main purpose for which the Qur'ān was revealed to realize the benefit of the servants. Hāmidī's division of Qur'ānic Maqāṣid includes three main parts: Maqāṣid ammah (general), Maqāṣid khassah (specific), and Maqāṣid juz'iyah (part). In addition, it was found that Qur'ānic Maqāṣid has a broader scope than sharia Maqāṣid. Contributions: a more systematic understanding of the division of the Qur'ānic Maqāṣid based on Hāmidī's thought, as well as enriching Maqāṣidi tafsir methodology by elaborating various ideas from previous figures. This research also raises awareness of the importance of understanding the Maqāṣid and wisdom of the Qur'anic verses to achieve the benefit of humanity, both in this world and in the hereafter. Conclusion: an in-depth understanding of the Maqāṣid of the Qur'an can reveal the beauty and virtue of the Qur'an and avoid the error of takwil. Although this study has limitations such as limited literary sources and a limited focus on Hāmidī's thought, the results make a significant contribution to the development of Maqāṣid Qur'ān studies and Maqāṣidi tafsir methodology.

Abstract

Background and Research Objectives: This study investigates Bultmann's hermeneutics, particularly the concept of demythologization used to interpret myths as existential statements, and its application in the study of Hadith. The objective is to explore how Bultmann's approach can uncover existential meanings relevant to contemporary humans and compare its applicability within Islamic studies. Methodology: This research employs a descriptive-analytical-critical approach by examining various academic texts and reputable international journals published in the last ten years. A comparative analysis between Bultmann's hermeneutics and Hadith studies is conducted to assess the potential of demythologization in an Islamic context. Main Findings: The findings reveal that demythologization aids in understanding the psychological and sociological dynamics behind mythological narratives in both Christian and Islamic contexts. It allows for the reinterpretation of mythological elements in Hadith to highlight underlying existential messages without diminishing the historical value of these religious texts. Involvement: This study significantly contributes to hermeneutical literature by extending Bultmann's concept of demythologization to Islamic studies. It opens new avenues for understanding Hadith texts in ways that align with contemporary intellectual needs. Conclusion: The research concludes that Bultmann's hermeneutical approach through demythologization offers a flexible framework for understanding the spiritual and moral meanings behind myths. This approach is relevant not only in Christian theology but also in Islamic studies, enabling new understandings of religious texts that resonate with the intellectual needs of contemporary humans.
