Abstract

This article explores the charismatic-religious worldview in Babad Dipanegara as a reflection of the collective consciousness of the Javanese religious-priyayi class during the colonial era, and its relevance to today’s moral leadership crisis. Employing Lucien Goldmann’s genetic structuralism approach, the study analyses the representation of spiritually, moral exemplarity, moral legitimacy, and social solidarity embodied in the figure of Prince Dipanegara. The primary data source is the Babad Dipanegara manuscript in Javanese script, transliterated and philologically examined to ensure accurate interpretation. The findings reveal Dipanegara as an alternative leader who combines political leadership with spiritual guidance. The charismatic-religious leadership values embedded in the text demonstrate as structural homology with the current crisis of leadership integrity in Indonesia. Babad Dipanegara is not merely a historical text but severs as a reflective medium to formulate leadership models rooted in ethics, spirituality, and closeness to the people. This research contributes to the development of leadership studies based on cultural and spiritual values and serves as an ethical reference for shaping future leaders capable of responding to contemporary challenges.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas relevansi nilai-nilai perjuangan Babad Diponegoro dengan aksi sosial kontemporer berjudul Indonesia Gelap 2025. Melalui pendekatan sosiologi sastra dan kerangka strukturalisme genetik Lucien Goldmann, penelitian ini memandang teks sejarah tidak sekadar sebagai narasi masa lampau, tetapi sebagai representasi visi dunia kolektif rakyat Jawa dalam menghadapi ketidakadilan kolonial. Nilai-nilai seperti keberanian, pengorbanan, solidaritas, dan spiritualitas yang tertuang dalam naskah tersebut dianalisis secara intertekstual dengan ekspresi perjuangan mahasiswa dalam Aksi Indonesia Gelap 2025, yang dipicu oleh pemangkasan drastis anggaran pendidikan oleh negara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi terhadap naskah Babad Diponegoro serta dokumentasi aksi kontemporer berupa orasi, media daring, dan unggahan sosial media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kesinambungan ideologis antara struktur perjuangan rakyat Jawa pada masa kolonial dan bentuk resistensi digital serta fisik masyarakat modern. Temuan ini mempertegas bahwa nilai-nilai budaya lokal dapat berfungsi sebagai fondasi etis dalam membangun kesadaran kritis dan solidaritas kolektif dalam menghadapi ketidakadilan struktural masa kini. Dengan demikian, kajian ini memperkuat pentingnya pembacaan ulang teks-teks sejarah dalam upaya membangun nalar perlawanan yang berakar pada identitas budaya.

Abstract

The widespread conflicts over inheritance rights in Indonesian society reflect a crisis of values within modern family life as well as a lack of ethical approaches used in resolving such disputes. This study aims to reveal the representation of the wisdom values of the figure Resi Gotama in Serat Lokapala as an ethical framework for conflict resolution among siblings in the context of inheritance disputes. The focus of the study is directed at how the teachings of Resi Gotama reflect spiritual values that can be transformed into guidelines for resolving family conflicts in the present day. This research employs a qualitative method with Lucien Goldmann’s genetic structuralism approach. The research steps include a literature study of the Serat Lokapala text, philological analysis of selected pupuh (metrical verses), and thematic interpretation of key values such as sumarah (submission/acceptance), darma (moral obligation), compassion, and ruwatan (spiritual liberation). The results indicate that the wisdom values of Resi Gotama reflect the cosmological and religious worldview of Javanese society, where conflict resolution prioritizes inner calm, spirituality, and deliberation rather than confrontation. The conclusion of this study is that the teachings of Resi Gotama can serve as a morally and socially relevant model for resolving inheritance conflicts in the modern era, while also making a tangible contribution to preserving local ethical values through the reinterpretation of classical Javanese literature. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap nilai kebijaksanaan tokoh Prabu Gendrayana serta bagaimana nilai tersebut dapat diimplementasikan untuk mengurangi perilaku pemimpin yang ambisius dan menyalahgunakan kekuasaan. Masalah penyalahgunaan kekuasaan oleh pemimpin seringkali dipicu oleh ambisi pribadi yang tidak terkendali dan kurangnya integritas moral. Dalam hal ini, tokoh Prabu Gendrayana ditelaah sebagai representasi pemimpin yang bijaksana, adil, dan berorientasi pada kepentingan rakyat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis etika sastra menurut Wayne C. Booth serta teori kebijaksanaan Robert J. Sternberg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai kebijaksanaan yang dimiliki Prabu Gendrayana, seperti pertimbangan etis, keseimbangan kepentingan, dan keputusan berbasis nurani, menjadi solusi penting dalam mencegah munculnya kepemimpinan yang ambisius. Dengan meneladani kebijaksanaan Prabu Gendrayana, diharapkan terbentuk budaya kepemimpinan yang lebih etis dan bertanggung jawab. The misuse of authority by leaders is often driven by uncontrolled personal ambition and the lack of moral integrity. In this context, Prabu Gendrayana is examined as a representation of a wise, fair, and oriented leader. The research uses a qualitative method with an ethical literary approach based on Wayne C. Booth’s theory and Robert J. Sternberg’s concept of wisdom. The findings reveal that the wisdom values embodied by Prabu Gendrayana, such as ethical reasoning, balanced decision-making, and conscience-driven leadership, offer crucial solutions to the emergence of authoritarian and manipulative leadership. Emulating Prabu Gendrayana’s wisdom can foster a leadership culture that is more ethical, just, and accountable. Keywords: wisdom, Prabu Gendrayana, ambitious, leadership, abuse of power

Abstract

Fenomena anxiety disorder yang meningkat di kalangan Gen Z mendorong perlunya pendekatan alternatif berbasis kearifan lokal sebagai solusi psikospiritual. Artikel ini menelaah simbol manunggaling kawula gusti dalam Babad Akhir Majapahit sebagai jalan penyembuhan batin bagi generasi muda yang mengalami krisis makna dan tekanan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap simbol-simbol penyatuan manusia dan Tuhan yang terkandung dalam pupuh-pupuh Dhandhanggula, seperti kêmbang kintanira, kitab daka, salat tunggal, palung, wong ngagung dhingin-dhingin, dan sêmut, serta mengkaji implementasinya sebagai solusi bagi gangguan kecemasan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teori teologi sastra dari Amos Wilder, yang menekankan pentingnya simbol, narasi, dan imajinasi religius dalam memahami pengalaman iman secara estetis dan eksistensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol-simbol tersebut memuat nilai spiritual berupa ketundukan, keheningan, kesadaran diri, dan keterhubungan ilahi yang dapat diinternalisasi Gen Z melalui praktik naratif dan refleksi keseharian. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa manunggaling kawula gusti bukan hanya konsep mistik Jawa, tetapi juga jalan kontemplatif yang relevan sebagai terapi batin untuk mengatasi anxiety disorder di era digital.

Abstract

The phenomenon of insecure society in today's young generation has given rise to an identity crisis, emotional instability, and weak foundation of values in building long-term relationships. This article aims to interpret the concept of Triaji, which includes aspects of bibit, bebet, and bobot in the story of Arjuna and Sumbadra in Serat Menak, and to examine the relevance of these symbolic values in facing the dynamics of modern society filled with anxiety and value disorientation. This study uses a qualitative interpretative approach with Clifford Geertz's symbolic anthropology theory, which emphasizes thick description in interpreting the symbolic meaning of culture contextually. The results of the study show that the concept of Triaji not only functions as a traditional guide in choosing a life partner, but also contains cultural symbols that represent cultural identity, social ethics, and emotional maturity. The characters of Arjuna and Sumbadra are represented as an ideal couple who are balanced genealogically, morally, and spiritually. The symbolic meaning of the Triaji concept in the story reflects Javanese cultural values that are still relevant and applicable as an ethical framework in building healthy, stable, and culturally conscious social relations. Thus, this article emphasizes the importance of revitalizing local symbolic meaning as an effort to answer the psychosocial and relational crisis in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study is based on the limited range of stylistic elements (diction) that are commonly known. The aesthetic elements of language that are generally recognized are limited to figures of speech and other stylistic devices. However, beyond that, the Javanese language possesses a distinctive style of word usage commonly found in classical texts, one of which is Serat Sabdajati by R. Ng. Ranggawarsita. This is what distinguishes Javanese literary works, endowing them with richness in both language and meaning. This study aims to describe the stylistic features in *Serat Sabdajati* by R. Ng. Ranggawarsita using a qualitative descriptive research method. The data were analyzed and described using a stylistic approach. The results revealed 64 unique Javanese stylistic features that differ from those in literary works in other languages. The study identified 43 instances of archaic affixation, predominantly infixes; 1 instance of a saroja compound; 5 instances of a garba compound; 5 instances of an entar compound; 4 instances of Kawi compounds; 13 instances of dasanama; and 5 instances of sandi asma. The entirety of the data found and described demonstrates the unique, diverse, and meaningful stylistic features of classical Javanese literary works, each serving specific purposes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kepercayaan masyarakat Kutai terhadap kepuhunan sebagai salah satu bentuk folklor sebagian lisan serta mengungkap upaya penangkalannya dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Kepuhunan merupakan kepercayaan rakyat yang berkaitan dengan pantangan menolak pemberian, khususnya makanan atau minuman, yang diyakini dapat menimbulkan kesialan atau gangguan apabila diabaikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara tidak terstruktur terhadap seorang informan masyarakat Kutai yang berdomisili di Desa Bukit Jering, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan kajian folklor melalui teori fungsional William R. Bascom yang meliputi fungsi folklor sebagai sistem proyeksi, alat pengesahan budaya, alat pendidikan, dan alat pengawasan nilai masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepuhunan dalam perspektif masyarakat Kutai tidak hanya dipahami sebagai kepercayaan yang berkaitan dengan unsur mistis, tetapi juga sebagai bentuk hubungan manusia dengan alam serta sesama manusia. Salah satu ciri khas yang ditemukan dalam tradisi ini adalah penggunaan daun segar sebagai simbol pelindung makanan ketika melewati kawasan hutan, yang diyakini dapat menghindarkan seseorang dari gangguan makhluk tak kasat mata. Selain itu, kepercayaan terhadap kepuhunan juga mengandung nilai sosial yang mendorong masyarakat untuk menghargai pemberian orang lain, terutama makanan, serta menanamkan sikap empati dan penghormatan terhadap alam sebagai sumber kehidupan. Dengan demikian, kepuhunan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai kepercayaan tradisional, tetapi juga sebagai kearifan lokal yang berperan dalam menjaga nilai sosial, moral, dan budaya dalam kehidupan masyarakat Kutai.

Abstract

This study examines the use of Javanese verbs in everyday communication among the people of Gunung Sari Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency, influenced by the transmigration situation and language contact. This study aims to identify the Javanese verb forms used in everyday interactions, explain variations in their use based on speech level, and analyze social factors influencing verb choice in the community. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a sociolinguistic approach. Data were obtained from community speech, interviews, observations, and documentation of conversations in the field. The results indicate that the community still uses Javanese verbs, including the ngoko and krama forms. The ngoko form dominates daily communication, while krama is used in formal situations as a form of politeness. Furthermore, variations in speech level usage and code-mixing phenomena between Javanese and Indonesian are found in everyday interactions. Social factors such as age, social environment, social relationships, language habits, and language contact also influence verb choice. Thus, the use of Javanese verbs in Gunung Sari Village demonstrates a dynamic, adaptive, and contextual nature within a multilingual society.
