Abstract

Students' low motivation to understand mathematics, fundamental subtraction facts, in inclusive classes is a learning challenge. Innovation of learning media is needed that is interesting, easy to use, and able to meet the needs of students with diverse characteristics. This study aims to develop Virtual Manipulative-based learning media on basic subtraction facts to increase the motivation to learn among inclusive class students. The development model used is ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects consisted of material experts, media experts, two teachers (homeroom teachers and special assistant teachers), and nine inclusive class III students. The instruments used included a validation sheet, a practicality questionnaire, and a learning motivation questionnaire. The study's results showed a very high level of validity (Aiken's V = 1.00) and practicality among teachers (98%) and students (87%), which is considered good. The effectiveness test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant increase in learning motivation. In conclusion, this Virtual Manipulative media is valid, practical, and effective, and has implications as an alternative for inclusion-friendly learning in elementary schools. The implications of this research suggest that the use of interactive technology designed to meet student needs can be an alternative for inclusion-friendly learning.

Abstract

Children in Indonesia, especially those in educational settings, are still vulnerable to various infectious diseases, including diarrhea and respiratory tract infections caused by bacteria and viruses. This study aims to examine the effect of using e-comic media on improving good and correct handwashing skills in early childhood as part of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) education. The study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The research subjects were 20 children in group B, aged 5–6 years. The intervention was carried out through learning with e-comic media, with a PHBS theme designed to teach handwashing procedures in accordance with health standards. Data were collected through children's worksheets (LKA), observation sheets, and teacher questionnaires. The t-test results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (t = -12.114; p < 0.05), with the average score increasing from 11.50 to 28.00. Although the correlation between the two scores was weak and insignificant (r = 0.206; p = 0.383), the overall improvement in scores indicated the intervention's effectiveness. Observational data showed an increase in children's enthusiasm and handwashing skills, while teachers' responses to the media reached 98%, indicating very effective implementation. These results indicate that e-comic media not only improve cognitive understanding but also support behavioral changes in children. Therefore, e-comic media is recommended as an engaging and educational learning tool in PHBS education at an early age.

Abstract

The population of children with disabilities in Indonesia reaches 1.6 million children, so appropriate learning activities are needed for children with disabilities in Indonesia. This study aims to identify the differentiated strategies teachers use in the learning process, the roles they play in creating an inclusive learning atmosphere, and the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence their effectiveness. This study uses a descriptive, qualitative approach. The research method used to examine natural object conditions involves triangulation (combined), inductive data analysis, and qualitative research results that emphasise meaning rather than generalisation. Data collection methods use observation, interviews and documentation. Data validity-checking techniques include source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. The study's results indicate that teachers play a central role in creating a learning environment that is fair, adaptable, and responsive to each student's needs. This study found that teachers act as learning designers, adjusting learning materials, processes, and products to students' abilities, interests, and learning profiles, including both regular and special needs students. The implications of this research also highlight the need for closer collaboration among class teachers, special assistant teachers, and parents to identify students' learning needs, thereby making the learning process more meaningful and effective
