Abstract

Burnout is a psychological syndrome characterized by physical and emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decreased self-efficacy. Currently, burnout among Indonesian society is experienced by 23.3% of Gen Z due to academic demands, social expectations, and digital media pressures that trigger a crisis of meaning in life. This qualitative research based on literature studies aims to analyze Ibn Sina's spiritual intelligence as a solution, with the novelty of synthesizing the philosophy of the soul and the theological foundation of Surah Al-Baqarah verse 269. Using a psychological approach and descriptive-interpretive analysis of primary sources in the form of the Qur'an and the Book of Al-Qanun fii Al-Tiibb. The study results in burnout as a form of holistic imbalance between the soul (al-nafs) and body (al-jism) which clinically resembles melancholic burnout (malankholia). This condition is caused by the failure of the human soul in controlling the balance of the vegetable soul and the animal soul, so that Ibn Sina's spiritual intelligence solution is focused on achieving al-hikmah (wisdom), through the human soul optimized by al-quwwah nazariyyah and al-quwwah amaliyyah to reach the highest level of reason (al-aql al-mustafad). This solution is oriented towards finding the meaning of life to face the challenges of the digital era, material happiness standards, and other social demands through four approaches: awareness of reason, soul management, mindfulness, and spiritual awareness.

Abstract

Domestic violence (KDRT) remains a significant issue in Indonesia, with high numbers of reported cases each year. Many of these cases are linked to gender inequality, and misinterpretations of Qur’anic verses often justify patriarchal practices within marriage. This study aims to analyze the interpretations of KUPI (Indonesian Women Ulama Congress) regarding Qur’anic verses related to KDRT and to explore how their progressive interpretations offer solutions to gender inequality in domestic settings. A qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach was used, with data sourced from KUPI’s fatwas, related academic literature, and interviews with gender-responsive scholars involved in KUPI. The study finds that KUPI’s interpretations of verses such as QS. al-Nisa’ [4]: 34 and QS. al-Baqarah [2]: 233 emphasizes equality, respect, and justice, rejecting violence and reinforcing mutual rights within marriage. This research contributes to the development of gender-responsive Qur’anic interpretation and offers new insights into addressing KDRT through Islamic law. For further research, it is recommended that field-based studies be conducted to examine the actual impact of KUPI interpretations on the prevention of domestic violence in Muslim communities, including through interviews with victims, advocates, and female religious scholars who are directly involved.

Abstract

QS. al-Ahzāb: 4 and QS. al-Taḥrīm: 1 with an emphasis on the relationship between the text of revelation and socio-historical reality. QS. al-Ahzāb: 4 is studied in the context of the practices of zhihār and tabannī that were developing in pre-Islamic society, which often gave rise to unclear lineage and injustice in the family structure. This verse emphasizes the Qur’anic correction of these practices by placing lineage and injustice within the family structure. QS. al-Taḥrīm verse 1 is analyzed through the dynamics of the Prophet’s household, particularly regarding his oath prohibiting something halal (permissible) in order to calm the jealousy of his wives. Allah’s rebuke in this verse emphasizes the boundaries of morality and the domestic sphere while also strengthening the principle that the determination of halal and haram cannot be determined by emotional considerations alone. This study aims to reveal how these two verses reflect the process of social, legal, and moral reform brought by the Qur’an. This research uses a historical-descriptive method, namely, uncovering the history of the two verses to reveal their contextual meaning. The analysis used in this study is contextual analysis, linking the interpretation results to the reasons for their revelation. These two verses demonstrate the Qur’an’s active response to social situations and emphasize the goal of fostering law and ethics that align with justice and the common good. This research emphasizes the importance of contextualization in understanding the normative role of the Qur’an.

Abstract

Women’s empowerment has been a crucial aspect of Indonesia’s national development since 1978 year, yet accessibility challenges in rural areas persist. This research aims to explore the figure of Maryam as a theological model for women’s empowerment through a comparative analysis of the Qur’an and the Bible. Employing a qualitative method with an intertextual approach, this study integrates classical and contemporary exegesis, including the perspectives of al-Ṭabarī, Ibn Kathīr, and Quraish Shihab, with selected Biblical texts. The findings indicate that both religious traditions position Maryam as a figure of high spiritual authority and moral integrity. In the Qur’an, Maryam is portrayed as a resilient woman facing social pressure with moral courage, while in the Bible (Luke 1:26-38), she is presented as an independent figure actively contributing to the prophetic mission. This study concludes that Maryam is not merely a historical-religious figure but a universal symbol of women’s empowerment that transcends dogmatic boundaries. The implications of these findings contribute to contemporary discourses on gender and religion, while positioning Maryam as a strategic point of convergence in interfaith dialogue. Through her exemplary moral steadfastness and spiritual independence, Maryam offers a new paradigm for strengthening women’s roles in both public and domestic spheres.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ Islamic character from the perspective of thematic interpretation of the Qur’an through direct observation at SMP Negeri 1 Kalijati, Subang, Indonesia. The research focused on key character indicators, such as honesty, discipline, respect, and cooperation, which were then linked to the moral values contained in Qur’anic verses related to moral education. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing Miles & Huberman’s interactive data model, supported by descriptive quantitative data and thematic interpretation analysis (al-tafsīr al-mawḍū’ī). The data were analyzed thematically to identify the relationship between student behavior in the school context and the principles of Islamic character education, as interpreted in the Qur’an. The results showed that most students displayed positive behavior in accordance with Islamic teachings, although several challenges remained in the aspects of consistency and internalization of values. However, previous studies tend to separate empirical character assessment from Qur’anic exegesis, leaving a methodological gap in integrating observed behavior with thematic Qur’anic interpretation. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening character education based on Quranic values in the school environment to shape a generation with noble morals that are relevant to their daily social context.

Abstract

This study examines the Qur’an’s response to the phenomenon of marginalization through a thematic analysis of QS. Al-Baqarah verses 27, 154, and 187. Using a qualitative approach and library research method, this study analyzes the asbāb al-nuzūl and interpretations of these three verses based on classical and contemporary exegesis books. The findings indicate that these three verses represent the Qur’an’s comprehensive response to various forms of marginalization. QS. Al-Baqarah: 27 criticizes the marginalization of spiritual values through violations of the divine covenant committed by apostate, hypocrite, and people of the book groups; QS. Al-Baqarah: 154 performs an epistemological deconstruction of the marginalization of martyrs through redefining the concepts of life and death; while QS. Al-Baqarah: 187 offers a rukhṣah mechanism as a response to marginalization through laws that do not consider human anthropological limitations. These three verses form a tripartite conceptual framework that complement each other in the construction of a civil society (madani society), emphasizing the importance of spiritual commitment, appreciation for sacrifice, and balance in law implementation. This study concludes that the Qur’an offers an integral paradigm in addressing marginalization through an approach that is simultaneously firm and relevant for contextualization in answering contemporary societal challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the obligation of radha’ah (breastfeeding) in the exegetical perspective of QS. Al-Baqarah verse 233 using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The research process consisted of systematic stages of identification, screening, and selection of relevant literature. Article searches were conducted using the Publish or Perish (PoP) application with PCC based keywords: “radha’ah,” “breastfeeding mothers,” and “tafsir of Al-Baqarah 233.” The initial search produced 7,507 articles from Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and JSTOR. These articles were screened using PRISMA procedures and analyzed through Rayyan.ai based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 13 articles eligible for further analysis. Thematic relationships among the literature were visualized using VOSviewer, which revealed major clusters related to radha’ah, breastfeeding obligations, infant nutrition, and the exegesis of QS. Al-Baqarah 233. The findings indicate that most mufassir interpret the amr form in the verse as an obligatory command for mothers, considering that breast milk is a biological consequence of pregnancy and the primary source of nutrition for infants. Some scholars view it as recommended in certain conditions, yet the literature consistently affirms that radha’ah is a fundamental right of the child and aligns with the maqasid al-shari’ah, particularly hifz al-nafs and hifz al-nasl. This study underscores the verse’s relevance to modern health issues and strengthens the comprehensive understanding of radha’ah in the Islamic perspective.

Abstract

Contemporary professional life increasingly demands strong ethical foundations to address problems such as declining work ethics, weak accountability, and the erosion of integrity in various social and institutional contexts. Within Islamic intellectual tradition, the Qur’an offers a comprehensive moral framework that emphasizes ethical responsibility in human conduct. However, previous studies often examine the values of work ethic, amanah (trustworthiness), and integrity separately, resulting in a fragmented understanding of their interrelated ethical structure. This study aims to analyze the Qur’anic construction of work ethic, amanah, and integrity as an integrated ethical framework and to explore their relevance for strengthening moral character and professional culture in contemporary society. This research employs qualitative library research using thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses supported by classical and contemporary exegetical literature. The findings demonstrate that the Qur’an conceptualizes work ethic as diligence and responsibility in fulfilling human duties, amanah as moral accountability in carrying entrusted responsibilities, and integrity as consistency between faith, speech, and action. These values are not independent but form an interconnected ethical system that guides individuals toward responsible and ethical conduct. The study concludes that the Qur’anic framework of work ethic, amanah, and integrity provides a significant moral foundation for reinforcing professionalism, accountability, and ethical work culture in the modern era.

Abstract

The normalization of toxic language on digital platforms has triggered serious moral degradation in children, demanding a pedagogical response that goes beyond secular approaches. This research aims to reconstruct the concept of language ethics in the Qur’an and Hadith as a fundamental basis for the formation of children’s character. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research design. The main data sources include the terminology of qawl in the Mushaf of the Qur’an and the authoritative books of Hadith (Kutub al-Sittah), supported by reputable journal literature as secondary data. Data analysis is carried out through theological interpretation and pedagogical synthesis to bridge normative texts with contemporary phenomena. The results of the study show three crucial findings: (1) The concepts of qawl sadīd, karīm, and layyin are not just norms of decency, but psychospiritual foundations that determine the integrity of character and validity of faith; (2) Exposure to toxic language is positively correlated with empathy deficits and increased emotional impulsivity in children based on findings from previous empirical studies; and (3) The internalization of prophetic language values through example (uswah) as documented in the analyzed literature and observed in educational best practices indicates a promising preventive-curative approach that appears more sustainable than regulatory measures alone in mitigating verbal aggression. Further experimental research is recommended to empirically measure the comparative effectiveness of these approaches.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the integrative strategies of the values of the Qur’an and Hadith in the development of the Islamic education curriculum in the era of modern disruption. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with a library research method. Research data were obtained from the text of the Qur’an, the hadith of the Prophet, classical and contemporary tafsir books, Islamic Religious Education curriculum documents such as the 2013 Curriculum and the Independent Curriculum, as well as various relevant scientific literature. The analysis was carried out through a thematic approach to identify the educational values in the Qur’an and Hadith and examine their relevance to the development of the Islamic education curriculum in the digital era. The results of the study show that the integrative strategy in the development of the Islamic education curriculum includes three main dimensions, namely strengthening teachers’ digital literacy as a prerequisite for contextual learning, the application of the Living Qur’an approach that connects the text of revelation with the social reality of students, and the development of inclusive pedagogy that respects the diversity of student characteristics. In addition, the recontextualization of the Prophet’s educational methods such as exemplary (uswah hasanah), dialogue, and gradual learning (tadarruj) shows a strong relevance to the modern pedagogical paradigm centered on students. This study emphasizes that the transformation of the Islamic education curriculum will only be effective if the integration of Qur’anic and Prophetic values is carried out systematically in curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and a sustainable educational ecosystem.
